Quiet. Peaceful. Restful.
We enjoyed the cabin and hot tub very much. It is quiet and a great place to just get away. The fridge and cabinets are stocked with the basics. We went to Cripple Creek and Royal Gourge. We highly recommend the train. The driveway is very steep so make sure your vehicle can make it. Jeff was very nice and made sure we had what we needed.
Glad you had a great time- thanks for staying! We purchased the land below the cabin so the steep driveway above the cabin is going away!
Great quiet cozy get away
This was perfect for what we were looking for. It was cozy, the wood burning stove put off a lot of heat but definitely want to get it started early as the upstairs is pretty cold when you first get there. We went through 4 bundles of wood in 2 days - you do need to bring your own.The hot tub was perfect and comfortable seating - except it could have been hotter. The hottest it goes is 104 and after getting in, it seems to cool off pretty fast with the winds and cool air. The bed was very comfortable and the blankets were adequate if the wind blowing hard outside, you may hear some noises on the roof as the trees sway against the roof. There is a great aspen field right off the back deck and I bet the home is beautiful during fall color. The bathroom is very small and so is the shower but it did the trick. The only suggestion would be that there needs to be other mirrors in the home. The only one is in the small bathroom. The top driveway is pretty steep and tight switch backs so be careful if coming in late at night. Oh and this is literally 13 minutes to cripple creek which was a blast!
Over all it was a great find, relaxing experience and we would definitely stay there again.
Jeff the Owner was super responsive and helpful during the reservation process and answering any questions we had.
Thanks so much for your review!
Cripple Creek Cozy Cottage for 2 with Hot Tub
Had a great time at the cabin. Very quite. No one is sight.
Thanks so much for your review and for choosing to stay at the cabin! Glad you had a nice time and hope you can make it back in the future!
Needs attention 😎
The photos just don't tell the story. Sorry. With all due respect, the place needs some attention. Yes it is quiet and out of the way but poorly kept. We left it cleaner than we found it. Temps dropped to the upper 20's at night which was expected but the radiant heating is very difficult to regulate. I can't imagine the critter and bug level in the summer. It would have been nice to start a small fire in the little pot belly but we didn't feel like hunting for firewood about the place. None provided but we did find a couple of matches. We also had to use towels we brought to place in front of the large gaps under and beside the front door. It was windy and very drafty. One of the two light fixtures in the kitchen area was missing a tube and buzzed and also the lense, let alone the wiring exposed. It took me quite a while to clear the 50+ dead flies from the windows and the front door( which is all glass ) was so filthy, it was hard to see out of. You have to unplug the fridge if you want to use the microwave and the oven shuts itself off or resets the timer by itself. Just be aware the shower is smaller than most RV showers and drips all night unless you place a towel under it. ( Blocking the sound). Sorry to be Nellie negative but this place is not as shown. As a matter of fact, the "hot tub" shown in the pictures IS NOT the one on the deck. It is an older smaller one. Other than that, we had a relaxing time. I strongly feel however that it needs about $5000 in repairs and upgrades to be worth the nightly rate. As it is, it should be under $100 at best. I noticed a lot of the reviews are 3-4 years old. So must be the photos.
I'm very surprised by your review, especially since all my communication with you (even post-stay, pre-review) was very positive. You never mentioned any issues during or after your stay- had you done so, we would have worked to make things as right as we could. However, I would like to address several inaccuracies in your review so potential guests can understand a few things. You mentioned most of our reviews are 3-4 years old. At the time of your review, there were 22 reviews posted. 18 of the 22 reviews are less than 2 years old, and most are from the past 12 months. They are not 3-4 years old. Also, the hot tub on site is actually NEWER than the one in the photo- the other one in the photos was purchased with the property and was from 1995. It developed major leaks so we replaced it after the photos were taken. I do owe you an apology for the kitchen light- the ballast went out and we tried to replace it- we broke the lens when trying to put it back together after we couldnt get the old ballast out. We figured it would be ok for your stay as there was sufficient light from the other fixture in the kitchen. We purchased a new light that was installed after your stay- we didnt want to interrupt your weekend by installing it during your stay. We did not leave any wires exposed as we take guest safety seriously. The glass in the front door isnt filthy- it is a double paned door that lost its seal. That is condensation between the 2 panes of glass. We have a whole new door and window set being manufactured as a replacement, as its an unusual size and cant be purchased off the shelf. I found the slow leak in the shower- it is not dripping but is running down the wall from the faucet. We'll replace the washers. Not sure how very slow trickling water down the shower wall kept you awake all night but we'll make sure its handled so other guests arent inconvenienced. I'm a little confused by the 50 flies comment, as I walked through the cabin the day before your stay and didnt notice 50 flies- if I had, I guarantee I would have taken care of them. 50 flies is a big thing to miss and I doubt I would have missed that! In summary, I am sorry that your stay was unpleasant in your opinion and I wish you the best. I'll let all the other reviews before yours speak for the cabin- unsolicited and with a 5 star average rating- to highlight our property and for our guest experiences at the cabin.
We loved the outdoor hot tub!
Cozy, quaint. Would recommend!
Thanks so much for your kind words and for staying at the cabin!
Good quick getaway!!
If you are looking for a cozy spot away from noise, this is a great spot. It was perfect for 2 people that needed to not be busy. A few things we noted if you are staying here:
Bring extra towels (there are 2 but you need more for the hot tub), wash cloths ( there is only 1), a scrubby sponge for doing dishes, wine glasses (they have plastic only and that doesn’t enhance the wine drinking experience), a can opener, a blanket to cuddle on the couch or add to the bed at night- it can get chilly and a cookie sheet if you were going to need it. There is a fireplace but no firewood, so bring your own up there or bring an axe to cut up fallen logs nearby.
There are fun walking areas and beautiful scenery. The hot tub is perfect. Overall we loved the location, price and cabin. It was exactly what we needed.
Thanks for your review and feedback! We'll add the things that you mentioned that were missing- except for the wine glasses. (FYI extra blankets are in the closet upstairs) Those plastic wine glasses are there on purpose as its a safety issue to have glass in the hot tub area. We've had guests break glasses there and it requires a complete drain of the tub and a detailed clean to make sure there are no glass fragments, as they are very dangerous and almost impossible to see in the tub. We really appreciate your stay and your positive comments!
