Very clean nice cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This Cottage was everything we expected, literally 10' from water! Awesome location close to everything in Boyne City but far enough away to stay out of the hustle and bustle! Marty the property manager was very helpful too! Very nice trip!

The property was very well maintained and provided everything necessary for a great stay

  • 4 of 5

The location was perfect for moving around Northern MI. The lake was right outside the cottage and provided amazing views from any point. The cottage was well maintained and cozy. There were even paper products available to use. We were a family of four and it was just the right size.

Needs new cleaning company

  • 3 of 5

The road that the cottage is on is much busier than expected. We brought our dog who is very well behaved, but the amount of cars and the speed they were going made me very nervous. Also, it could have been a bit cleaner. There were cowebs behind the legs of the bunk beds, as well as in the waste paper basket in 2nd bedroom, mustard on fridge expired in 2016, previous guests left garbage of some sort in soap holder in shower (I was not about to touch) and upon checking under the beds before we left, to make sure we did not forget anything, my husband finds three under garments under the bed; which were not ours! So grossed out. Cleaning companies should notice all these things. We paid a lot of money for this cabin on the water. The lake was beautiful, but was not worth the price of admission.

Owner's Response: Lynne, Sorry that your stay was less the desirable. The cottage does sit right on the water, so the road is pretty close, but you can see that in the pictures too. As for the cleaning, the regular cleaner was out of town and I tried a new one, unfortunately I got 2 complaints that week, yours and another property I manage, and dismissed them. The condiments the owner leaves, but I will make sure to completely have the fridge emptied, so as not to leave something trying to help that someone may not like. As for the price, for direct waterfront on Lake Charlevoix, the cottage is by far the most inexpensive opportunity. Thanks for you stay, and your review. Sincerely, Marty

Absolutely stunning!

  • 5 of 5

This was our family's first trip, of what we hope will be many, to Boyne City and the cottage. The cottage was a bit small, but it was perfect for our family. It definitely had that "up north" feel that we were looking for and the cottage had everything that we needed. We loved waking up to the sound of the lake and the privacy that we had. Our boys really enjoyed swimming and having direct access to the lake at any time they pleased. I would recommend water shoes for anyone bringing children. Lake Charlevoix is by far our favorite lake that we have spent time on in Michigan. We spent some time out on a pontoon and did some tubing and the water was crystal clear and not too busy with other boaters. Downtown Boyne City was very charming and had a lot of cute shops. We loved seeing all of the different artists playing music around town on Friday night and visiting the farmer's market Saturday morning. Our young boys are already asking when we can return to the cottage and we are really hoping to make this an annual trip!

Owner's Response: Corinne, Glad you and your family had a great time. Lake Charlevoix is very beautiful, and we are lucky to have it! Boyne has really become a destination over the past 20 years as well. So happy to hear that the boys enjoyed waking up to the excitement of going swimming whenever they chose. Have a great rest of your summer, and let me know if I can ever help you in the future. Sincerely, Marty Moody

The Northwestern part of lower Michigan, and especially the Boyne area is arguably some of the most beautiful terrain and sight-seeing in the entire state. Lake Charlevoix was named the second best lake in the nation in the eastern US, and second only to Lake Tahoe. There are many things to do in the area, and in the summer, none are more wonderful than spending a day in or on Lake Charlevoix. The town of Boyne City itself is less than 1 mile from the cottage, and has multiple dining options from very casual to upscale, as well as some great bars to test the latest micro-brews. The ever famous Boyne Mountain Resort is just a 5 minute drive away. This is a fabulous place to just sit and watch the days slip away!
