Clean, Quiet, Couldn't have asked for more

  • 5 of 5

Ferry Creek is an amazing little home away from home. Pam has thought of everything and really takes care of the place to ensure you have all the comforts of home. We kayaked right off the dock and we're able to crab and fish right there. Our dog loved being able to come down to the water with us too. The neighbors we met were all so nice. It's a short drive into town with restaurants. Make sure you check out Scoots and awesome BBQ joint that's worth the drive. We will be back to visit Soon!!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Sunny and Grey for your review!! ......I am so happy you enjoyed your stay,....the kayaking creeks and inlets are more than can possibly be explored in a wknd,,,,so you will definitely have to come back!!! Great you got down to Scoots for BBQ...and also as a note , Olivia's restaurant in the Courthouse is affiliated (same owner) and the quality and freshness is tops!! Thank you for coming to Ferry Creek and I look forward to seeing you again!!!

Ferry Creek Cottage is a Special Little Gem!

  • 5 of 5

I looked at the other reviews before writing this and thought . . . yup, uh huh, absolutely, couldn't say it better myself. So, yes, it's all true! This is a wonderfully quiet and tranquil place, especially in contrast to the bustle of the DC area. The setting and views are amazing; the cottage is terrific and well-appointed. And everything said about Pam is spot-on. She's a wonderful hostess.

A couple of additional notes: for folks who like to get some exercise, the YMCA in Mathews is small but well-equipped, and there are 4 tennis courts in a park shared with the Mathews HS. Of course, with all the exercise, we enjoyed wineries on the way there and sprinkled around the area: Oak Crest Winery in King George (decent wines, nice experience); Good Luck Cellars outside of Kilmarnock (nice, friendly, decent wines); and Ingleside Vineyards outside of Colonial Beach (our favorite: both reds and whites are decent, the winery is beautiful, must visit the barrel room, lots of fun items to buy, and there is a neat museum onsite with a lot of local artifacts).

A great get-away!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and for ENJOYING!!!! I love to see the look on peoples faces when they take in the view for the 1st time!! And when I get feedback about the "quiet".....and "well appointed"....and all the other great words you wrote.,Mike....I know why I love sharing my little home !! It's a place where people can hang there feet off the edge of the world and forget their worries! Thank you for highlighting the YMCA Mathews and the tennis courts and for the virtual "wine tour" which is a destination on its own!!!! The 8th Annual Gloucester Wine Festival was Sept 23rd and it is every Fall....IF you can.....catch it next year!!!! Oh....and the J&W seafood that you introduced me to something I will share with all future guests!! The Kale Salad and the scallops and the crab dip were awesome!!! Again....thanks for finding Ferry Creek Cottage .....I look forward to seeing you all again...Soon!!!!! Pam

Fabulous retreat for rest and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

I was planning a mini summer-vacation near Williamsburg, but wanted to avoid the crowds, and then came across this gem. Booking this property, I thought the pictures and reviews were likely too good to be true, but after being here a few days, I can certainly report that they are very accurate. The cottage was well appointed, comfortable and cozy, and, very important from my perspective, clean. Also, Pam, the owner was most helpful with answering my questions and providing assistance when requested. I will be returning again soon and look forward to enjoying another memorable stay.

Pure Gem!

  • 5 of 5

This was an amazing first experience with VRBO. Pam and the Creek were absolutely perfect for our get away. We enjoyed the dock with fishing and Pam provided a crab pot which was prefect and kept my family soooo happy. We were even able to catch enough crab to steam and eat them fresh!! I was more excited about being able to enjoyed the porch time with beautiful sun rises and sun rays every morning with coffee :) Pam was so nice and friendly she offered great advice and local restaurants to try as well. The neighbor was just as friendly offering advice to my husband and son on where and what to go get from the bait shop for fishing and crabbing bait.

We enjoyed a few day trips to local attractions (Jamestown, Yorktown, and Virginia Beach) with no problems at all.

The house was so clean and had everything we needed. The bathroom and bedrooms were spotless and instantly took away any concerns of renting spaces in just moments of walking around. Overall this was a great place and great first time experience. We will surely keep this gem in mind for any future trips to Virginia.

Owner's Response: I am so happy that you came to Ferry Creek Cottage and enjoyed my home......I always hope that people will feel the way you did when they sit on the porch and look out over the water and see the view that , to me, is like living in a tree house!!! Cleanliness is top priority to me too and I am VERY happy you rated the cottage high on that count as well!! Come back and catch more of those Chesapeake Bay blue crabs!! Thank you, Heather.....I can't wait to see your family again!! Pam

Cannot wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived after dark and our stay started with a lovely welcome....low lights, candles burning on the deck, and chilled champagne. Pam greeted us with a quick tour of the house and its amenities. The house was fully stocked and offered plenty of room. While the house is tastefully decorated, the decks and dock were the gems of this location! Pam provided local sights of interest and other recreational information but most of our time was spent sitting by the water and soaking up the sun. We definitely hope to return soon! Thanks, Pam, for making the entire process easy as pie!
