A friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend stay at the cottage. The views are beautiful; we enjoyed the air conditioned comfort of the sunroom, the covered porch with ceiling fan and the lovely dock. The cottage is clean and well-equipped. Gloucester Main Street is a short drive with restaurants, shops and a great massage place. Pam was very easy to work with - we will return!
Great view! Relaxing getaway. This very comfortable cottage offers everything for a enjoyable vacation spot. Close to Yorktown, Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg. Make sure you take the scenic Colonial Parkway when traveling between these three spots. Must eat at Olivia's in Gloucester Court House.
Thanks Pam! We will definitely stay here again when we return to the area.
My husband, two children and I stayed at this adorable and cozy cottage for one week in July 2016. From the day we arrived until we left, we enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very comfortable, super clean, relaxing and basically everything we needed. I love yoga and zen like atmosphere and this had an area just for me! The deck is covered and overlooking the lake. There are candles set up and a nice patio furniture to relax on. Going down to the dock was a cool and surprising experience where we found a large, live horseshoe crab, small jellyfish and crabs. We threw a crabbing trap in and caught crabs. My daughter, who is seven, thought that was so cool! She fished off the dock and caught four fish. She loved going down to the dock. The beds were comfortable and kitchen was big so I had space to chop, dice and prepare my food. The owner of this home, Pam, was wonderful. So kind and thoughtful. She explained where things were in town and made us feel like family. I highly recommend this place for your next vacation.
I was lucky enough to spend 3 weeks at this beautiful cottage and enjoyed every minute! Pam - the owner - is amazing and provided lots of recommendations for places to eat. We tried just about every one! Bangkok Noi (Gloucester) for Thai food, Merroir (Topping) for delicious oysters, Olivia's in the Village for crab cakes, Southwind Cafe (Mathews) for gourmet pizza, Tony & Mirena's Pizzeria (Hayes) for authentic Italian…the list is endless! The best meal of the day, however, was always breakfast. There is something special about sitting on the porch, drinking coffee, and watching all the amazing wildlife - otters, bald eagles, herons, osprey. The view was breathtaking. I spent many a day out on the porch reading and relaxing. The cottage has an open floor plan, full kitchen, modern bathroom and amazing water views. I highly recommend the Ferry Creek cottage for anyone who is looking for a real getaway. I was SO sad to leave at the end of my 3 weeks, that we have made arrangements to return next month. Don't miss out on this magical place.
We're back for a 3rd visit! We requested the guesthouse, but there's a writer, of romance novels, no less staying a few months! The COTTAGE was available! A spacious open floorplan...completely stocked kitchen/cozy livingroom/dining area open sunroom w/lots of light. This opens to a two-level porch/deck facing the water w/spectacular sunrises, sunsets & views of the moon, great for savoring your morning coffee. Decks lead to a boathouse/l-shaped dock to for fishing/kayaking/ canoeing 7 miles to the Chesapeake Bay. Beds are comfortable/bath has been completely renovated! So very clean & decor is charming! We recommend visiting: Mathews, Route 198 shopping at Cattails. Best pizza at Southwind Cafe/Church Street. Bottled beer is $2.75 & u must order homemade parmesan buttermilk salad dressing, great for dipping homemade crust in, too. Saluda, visited Gen. Puller's grave at Christ Church Cemetery. (He was one of the most decorated Marines in WWII/ Korean War). Take in historic Gloucester square & lunch at LuLu Birds Kitchen/Main St. Try LuLu's salad or Keyvan's Chicken Salad, quite tasty! Visit Gloucester Arts on Main, Smith's Florist for unique gifts & the used bookstore. Nice/friendly folks, too! Enjoy the Dog Street Pub/Williamsburg w/Shepherd's Pie & fish'n chips, and its lovely lit up at night!! Go to Pop's in Hayes for breakfast. Toured thru Mariners Museum & the U.S. Army Transportation Museum at Ft. Eustis. Head to historic Yorktown to enjoy cocktails & good food at the Water Street Grille at Riverwalk Landing. Take the Surrey Ferry over to colonial Jamestown at sunset!! Savor the best steak & hand breaded mushrooms at the Cactus in Yorktown! We've been here several times, always delicious!! Drove to Norfolk and toured the Nauticus Museum, the USS Battleship Wisconsin (BB-64) and took harbor cruise on the Victory Rover. Quite a busy day filled with so much history. Enjoy eating at Harpoon Larry's Fish House & Oyster Bar in Newport News for shrimp, lump crab/crab cakes, scallops, fried flounder, hush puppies & sweet potato fries, known as "the best seafood place in town"! We drove to Warrenton, VA to visit some friends! Well, we've had another awesome trip to Virginia, a wonderful part of the country with so much to see & do! Thanks so much, Pam for your kindness & generous hospitality! We always enjoy staying at your cottage or guesthouse! U know....we'll be back!! Steve & Debbie, Southern Illinois
