After staying in hotels in the Old Port for my past 7 trips to the area, I decided to try renting a house instead. I couldn't have picked a more cozy, clean and centrally located home. The warmth of family was felt throughout the house. Upon arriving there were freshly baked blueberry muffins and a book with all of the local attractions with detailed information and directions on each. The kitchen is equipped to cook anything from an egg to a 5 course meal, while being in walking distance to one of the best restaurants in town, Davids. I will absolutely stay there again!

Great Cottage Experience!

  • 4 of 5

This little cottage was a great family vacation home for our family. It was comfortable, clean, and well appointed. The back yard has a cool private feel and one side of the yard actually sits against a small woods! It has a great vintage vibe which we loved, it definitely has a story to tell! It was nice that the kitchen was stocked with spices, cooking oil, foils, dish detergent, trash bags etc. Portland is a short drive to the fish market or shopping in an urban environment. Cape Elizabeth and South Portland are great little towns well worth exploring on their own. Nearby Willard beach is very relaxed and is a five minute drive or 10-15 minute bike ride. Higgins beach, about a 20 minutes car ride, is amazing for surf and tide, just make sure you bring parking money! There are nearby lighthouses, state parks, Abundant spots to eat or purchase wonderful fresh food, and there is fantastic craft beer everywhere. The owners are accessible and responsive and had a welcome note with fresh local jam and muffins waiting for us upon arrival, as well as a binder full of activity suggestions and helpful information. It rained 3 days of our vacation and we still had plenty to do. Perfect for a stay at the cottage and cook / cook fresh fish and veggies type thing or a go into town and enjoy great restaurants/ breweries. We loved nearby DiPietros market, the Terra Cotta pasta company, Scratch Bakery, and Willard Scoops! Also the owners were kind enough to let us bring our dog at the last minute when our boarding plans fell through at. We really needed another week to even scratch the surface of this awesome area. Thanks Putnam family for a great vacation home!

They were responsive to our calls and the overall house was decorated nicely .

  • 3 of 5

This property needed some sprucing up. Air conditioner filters were dirty and never cleaned. I would suggest new pillows and a new mattress in front room. The area is very nice however I felt that the home was not cleaned to warrant a cleaning fee. We did most of the cleaning. Shower curtain liner was dirty, never changed. The basement had a very pungent odor and fortunately no one had to stay downstairs. Some windows were so old you could not open them and the screens of those you could open were never cleaned. Given the impression that the home was just opened for the season more focus should have been on cleaning it for those first renters.

On the positive side, the owners were very responsive to other issues and welcomed us with some Maine goodies. We did enjoy our trip to Cape Elizabeth,ME

House is very clean and fully stocked. Very comfortable and nice decorated. The owners were responsive when questions were asked. Location was convenient for day trips to Kennebunkport, Freeport, Boothbay, etc. 10 minutes to Portland. Thanks so much.

Nice Place but Some Issues

  • 3 of 5

We had a very pleasant stay during our vacation this year. We had water problems 2 of the 7 days we were there. I do have to say that the owners addressed the issues very quickly and I did appreciate that. The windows are very old and in the book it states not to open the windows in the living room because they are fragile. Even with moderate temperatures the room got very warm and there is no ceiling fan or anything to circulate the air. This could definitely help.

It was, however, a very convenient location and so nice being dog friendly. Thanks.

A wonderful little house

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this lovely little home in Cape Elizabeth recently. The house is a delight. It's not big, no separate dining room. But it is very clean, decorated nicely, everything works, and lots of extras. For example, a lovely set of china from Italy, to be used for everyday. Lots of pots and pans, utensils, silverware, glasses, coffee maker, herbs, salt & pepper, washer & dryer - really, everything you need. The beds are very comfortable. Three TVs in the place. Close to the grocery store and a lovely bakery (Scratch) that everyone writes about. No, not walking distance unless you like a long walk, but very close buy. I will most definitely return.
