Why Paul Johnson chose Morgan

We are fans of Mid-Century Modern styles and fell in love with this home as soon as we toured it. Purchased from a former boot maker, we enjoyed the challenges of transforming this house from a craftsman's workshop to the cozy retreat it is today. We believe you'll enjoy the peaceful settings as much as we do!

What makes this house unique

Property is at the end of a cul-de-sac, private, quiet, and peaceful with plenty of parking including a boat. The Canyons at Whitney is a small residential community that has a full time security guard that patrols daily and is a member of the volunteer fire department. Abundant hiking trails and are great for mountain biking. Great bird watching, plentiful wild life, and serene location., plus canyon breezes year round and very little traffic.

Clean, well equipped home, very spacious!

  • 5 of 5

Our family met here for a weekend including 6 adults and 4 children. I was really surprised that there were sleeping accommodations for all of us without anyone having to crash on the couch. A beautiful, clean home with everything you may need to cook for your family, plenty of pillows and blankets as well as towels. Very short drive to swimming cove and boat ramp. We would definitely stay here again, owners were very responsive and kind, the Home was well equipped and clean!

Owner's Response: Jenny, Thank you for your excellent and kind review! We're grateful to have you as guests in our home. We think the cove is a great "hidden value" as it's not available or known to most. Barbara and I are so pleased your family had a great Memorial Day weekend. We'd love to host you again! All the Best, Paul and Barbara Johnson

Charming and cozy rustic home with amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful weekend at this lovely home! Paul and Barbara are very accommodating and very responsive when we had a question or need. The view from inside out is amazing and the living area was perfect for our family. We especially enjoyed the starry nights on the deck. Surroundings were serene and the access to swimming and hiking were just a short 5 minute drive We hope to be back again!

Great setup for 2 families

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for my sisters family and my family to stay in while we attended a family reunion nearby. The space was perfect for what we needed. My wife and I took one bedroom on the main floor and put the little kids that went to bed early in the other. My sister and her husband took the downstairs bedroom and the big kids that stayed up late slept on the bed and couches in the game room. It allowed the adults to stay up playing games and visiting while the kids watched tv and hung out downstairs. The home was comfortable for two families and had a gorgeous view. We saw dozens of deer in the neighborhood and hummingbirds visited the porch feeders daily. The A/C unit in the game room did an excellent job keeping the room cool. We had to move some breakable items out of the reach of little hands, but that was minimal. The spare fridge in the game room came in really handy. Clean up instructions were minimal at the end of the weekend. All in all, the Johnson's do a great job making this an easy, comfortable and affordable place to stay.

A Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

Paul & Barbara have a wonderful retreat, tucked away in a quiet, central Texas location.

The home is at the end of a cul-de-sac which overlooks a small bluff filled with trees and birds who constantly flit and float from edge to edge. When we first arrived for our girls' weekend, we saw a fox in the yard scurrying away with its prey in its mouth and cardinals flitting through the trees. The view was inspiring as we stepped up onto the porch which overlooks the bluff, as well as a distant, but magnificent view of Lake Whitney's blue-green waters sparkling below brilliant, white cliffs. Once we filled the hummingbird feeders and put fruit and seed treats on the porch railing, the birds were a constant source of joy.

We entered and explored the home which was well furnished with plenty of room for our party of 6. We chose our rooms and beds and quickly got busy unwinding. We lounged in the living area while laughing with friends, silently relaxed on the porch with coffee and tea in hand while observing the quiet beauty of the area, mixed drinks in the open kitchen as others prepared a simple dinner. Every item needed for our stay was was easily found and put to good use: from dinner prep to bedtime, from early morning coffee and breakfast making to hiking maps and gorgeous lake access, even to towels, sunscreen and noon-time shade.

While we were in the area, we made the short trip to Waco to do some shopping and see the sights. We visited Chip and Joanna's place, fell in love with the decor at The Findery and attended church in town. We ate dinner at Alpha Omega Mediterranean Grill and Bakery and all agreed that it was the best meal we'd had in years. Every item we ordered was tasted and shared by all. Mediterranean food is supposed to be the healthiest, but we ate ourselves beyond anything that could come close to being called healthy!

We did have a question during our stay and Barbara was quick to get back with us with a helpful answer. Do pick up all your groceries in town, as the nearest grocery is a little too far to make a "quick trip", but that is part of the joy of the location. There is no traffic noise, no light pollution at night, only natural, quiet beauty.

This property is highly recommended by us and would be good for couples, families, and small groups. Just don't tell too many people about it, because we all want to come back in our group, as well as with our families. We don't want it to be booked by others during our vacations!
