This clean & comfortable home features 2 bedrooms & a family room, with 2 new queen bed sets & a new double pull-out couch. The master suite has a 3 piece ensuite and 4 pieces in the main bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped for the cook in the family. This house will comfortably sleep 4 people. The dining room seats 6-8. The home is family-friendly with books, puzzles and Duplo available for little ones. We have a high chair available and could have other items if needed. We have HD TV, free wifi and a phone to use for local calls. We are pleased to feature photos of the West Coast by local photographer, Graeme Owsianski. (If you want to take a peek at his work, he can be found on Tumblr under the name benchandcompass.) Enjoy ocean views from the living, dining, kitchen and family rooms. The large deck looks down on a beautifully landscaped yard and across to the ocean. In addition to off street parking there is space for parking a RV.
We are happily married and have 2 daughters, 2 sons and 3 grandsons. We live in beautiful Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island and love it.
We enjoy entertaining, cooking and trying new foods. Our hobbies include reading, tasting wine, listening to live music and puttering around the house and garden. Dini's careers have included teaching pre-school children, the food industry, art and business. Don's careers have included teaching, sales, marketing and business management.
Dini and Don purchased this house in 2014
The location of this home was the most important thing to us when choosing the property. We had a little work to do to get it ready - a new roof and other minor issues brought it up to our standards and ready to present as a guest house. We love the yard and large deck and especially the view of the ocean and coastal mountains.
My husband and I spent the month of October at The Sleepy Owl, and we left wishing that we could stay forever! Dini and Don were wonderful hosts, there if you needed them but, otherwise, completely unobtrusive.
The house, which was beautifully clean and well-appointed, is located in what we decided is the most desirable area of Qualicum Beach. Every morning of the very rainy month, we enjoyed the kitchen-window view of the water, Texada and the distant Sunshine Coast. The beds were comfortable and the nights were quiet. Apart from being carpeted, the house is allergy-friendly.
As a community, Qualicum is small enough to be very friendly but large enough to provide adequate shopping within easy walking distance of The Sleepy Owl. There are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops for when you don't feel like cooking.
Thank you so much, Dini and Don, for a lovely get-away from noisy, busy Vancouver!
We met with the owner who was very friendly and accommodating. I chose this place for me and my bridesmaids to stay for the night before the wedding and it was a great choice. it was a large place so everyone slept comfortably and there was lots of room to get ready in the morning along with make up artists, hair stylists and photographers. It was perfect - thanks for having us!.
Staying at The Sleepy Owl is just like home - but better! The bedrooms are large and decorated beautifully, and our family of four slept soundly during our stay. The kitchen is bright, and full of all you need (and more) to prepare meals that you can enjoy either in the dining room, or on the spacious deck. Both offer a stunning view of Qualicum Beach - the town and the water. At night time watch for the cruise ships coming up the inlet. The wonderful hosts are very good at their job - they are always available to answer questions or lend a hand when you need them, yet they are so discreet and low key that you forget you're sharing a house with them. The location can't be beat - it is within walking distance of town, but you can be on the highway and off on an island adventure in a hop skip and a jump.
This was our second stay at The Sleepy Owl, and I am looking forward to returning!
Dini and Don were wonderful hosts! Everything and more needed to make us, (2 couples from Ontario), feel like we never left home was taken care of, and there was the added bonus of a large deck with a barbeque, overlooking their beautiful gardens and, in the near distance, the water! The accommodation was quite large, (entire upper level of their home), and very comfortable! Although we had no issues, Dini and Don were either downstairs or a phone call away - ready to help in any way! The neighbourhood was extremely quiet, so a peaceful sleep was guaranteed!
We were asked before we came if we liked wine, and upon our arrival, we were greeted with 2 bottles of white wine, some chocolate, and a bowl full of a variety of fresh fruit! We were spoiled!
Thank you, Dini and Don, for making our visit to your quaint town very memorable!

Our stay at the Sleepy Owl was great. The accommodations are very nice and the beds very comfortable. Dini & Don thought of everything and they gave us lots of information about places close by and things we wanted to do. (Lefty's is a great restaurant they recommended!) I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore that area. We went as far away as the Pacific Rim and as close as the beach down the hill. Lots to do nearby. The only thing I would do differently is to stay longer! Denver, CO
We spent a wonderful 2 days staying with our 6 year old daughter in this pristine and elegant suite. We were very impressed with the location, hosts and ambiance of The Sleepy Owl!
Highly recommend, and we're looking forward to staying again!
Qualicum Beach is all about... well the beach! It's beautiful. Lots of sand for the kids to dig in and build castles, rocks to look under for crabs, warm water to play in, and lots of room to walk and explore.
