Beautifully furnished 5 Bedroom Home
Aloha! My husband and I just recently moved to Makaha from the mainland and hoped to lure my mom to move here by purchasing a large home which to us is considered a duplex. In Hawaii they consider it an ohana ( Mom decided not to let her 'stay-cation' begin until she decides to retire, which in my opinion will not be anytime soon. The result is a vacant, beautifully furnished 5 bedroom and 3 bath oasis. Not only does it have the standard 'fully furnished' amenities, but it's 'fully loaded' for fun!! ( fishing poles and light tackle, snorkels, body boards, life jackets, etc) and for young families...high chair, playpen, stroller, etc Prior to moving to Paradise, we travelled extensively and recognize how hard and expensive it can be to pack 'everything but the kitchen sink' so we have taken care of everything for you. Our guests are very important to us, and are always available for any of your needs, questions, etc. We are new to the world of vacation rentals and don't have many reviews yet. We invite you to help change that;)

Peaceful hawaiian get away
The house was clean and comfortable. Just a short walk to the beach where we saw the sea turtles come up on the beach. Nice to be away from the hustle of the city. We had chickens and there chicks in the yard and our morning wake up to the rooster. A good was had by all.
Wonderful family vacation homeaway from home
Those sea turtles are for real! The small beach cove closest to the home was filled daily with a resting sea turtle, especially toward evening while we were there. There are other nearby beaches none of which are crowded. The beach chairs, beach towels, surf boards, and ice chests provided by the host were wonderful to have access to. We spent many hours of relaxed time on the beaches.
If you like hiking (5-6 miles relatively flat), at the end of Farrington Hwy (93) there is an unadvertised state park (Kaena Point) which connects to the north shore. Nesting birds, seals and tide pools are quite interesting but go prepared with water and hiking boots.
We took several day trips to north shore, east shore, Paradise Cove lagoon at Ko Olina (lovely public beach with a monk seal relaxing on the beach for several hours), Waikiki, Pearl Harbor trip to see USS Arizona Memorial. Enjoyed our picnic lunches along the way and the beaches.
The home is spacious. We were a family of six adults. Plenty of beds, linens, towels. We did a lot of grilling on their new grill. The refrigerator was huge and held our 10-day supply of food. The freezer didn't seem to keep up with our frozen drink requests so we just bought some ice to keep in the freezer. The kitchen was very well supplied with blender (for those frozen drinks), grill equipment, dishes, cookware, etc. Quietest dishwasher I have ever seen. We enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner outside at the patio table. The large overhang on the porches was especially nice to sit outside and listen to the rain.
Several folks have mentioned the noise as a problem in their reviews. To be honest, this is a country like setting with homes very close together and Farrington highway right outside. Personally, we enjoyed seeing the chickens free roaming in the grassy area off the patio in the morning, people walking along the street and the traffic going by. One neighbor does raise hunting dogs and they bark occasionally, but we thought the neighbor was conscious of the noise and tried to quiet them.
You might want to check with the host concerning supplies in the kitchen (dish towels & hot pot holders) and in the bath (bars of soap). Closest clean grocery store (Safeway) we found was in Kopolei.
Nice house but not the best location.
The neighbors, which are very close, do affect your stay. The dogs barking and howling at all hours, along with the rooster's crowing. The police (5 cars) were there one night when we arrived home. The house is nice but not very well equipped. It sleeps 10, but only has 4 cereal bowls. There were no pot holders, baking dishes, not enough utensils, a really bad can opener, which caused us to cut ourselves. The lighting is poor in most of the rooms even tho there is an endless amount of light switches to nowhere. We heard rats in the ceiling. Not enough supplies to clean up after ourselves. The outdoor setup is nice but we weren't able to use it with the dogs constantly barking at us. The neighborhood is sketchy but the short walk to the beach with turtles is very nice. We would most likely not stay here again as it was a long drive to most activities and the traffic is bad.
Property is beautiful, the chickens and dogs next door thought are definitely a problem, all night and day. But the property is gorgeous.gad a great time
Great. Spacious house!
The house is so nice! Ver big, big enough for us (11 total). And while it was not close to many things, we preferred it. Has a small beach just minutes away on foot and a big beach just 3 minutes away in car.
Worked for our Large family gathering great, and was a real island neighborhood!
Having a bedroom for each of us married couples, my disabled dad on the main floor, and my single brothers was wonderful. We had a kitchen to utilize for meals and snacks to save money and a dinner table large enough for ALL of us to eat at together. If you are not getting a rental car, it is a long ride w/public transit, but we had one and had no problems doing either when splitting into smaller groups of doing activities. The home was clean, the manager Tanya great if we had questions for where supplies were, and helpful with local info. You can hear the neighbors chickens every morning, fun and nice reminder of my family's country days. Each room has AC which is nice since we wound up there during an unusual heat/humidity wave. The beds are comfy, laundry facilities are nice to have w/children with you, and hose outside to utilize when you come walking back form the little neighborhood beach! And yes we even saw turtles eating on the rocks in the ocean while there! Thank you for the great place to call home temporarily.
