About Andy and Amber Finch

Andy and I have been married over 10 years, we now have a new awesome little addition, Amiya Joy who is 4 months young and her older brother Asher Josiah who is 3. We also have a mini aussie, Indy who was our first child and is still dearly loved. We enjoy traveling, some for pleasure, some for work, but we are gone enough to rent out our house, though Truckee will always be our home base. Andy used to compete in snowboarding halfpipe, he went to the 2006 olympics! He now does odds and ends jobs, rental management, construction, commentating at ski and snowboard events, guest coaching, motivational speaking, whatever! I am a full time mom, but also do commissioned artwork, work with a whole foods company, teach some cooking classes and teach spin and yoga classes. We are both very involved in our church and community. Our favorite activities to enjoy together are mountain biking and paddleboarding. Andy also loves surfing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, skateboarding. I love cross country skiing, running, horseback riding, cooking, and road biking. Our little man has already snowboarded, paddleboarded, skateboarded, haha, he is going to be extreme like his parents! We love hosting guests and activities at our house and have the perfect home for it, and that is why we know you will love it too!

Andy and Amber Finch purchased this house in 2003

Why Andy and Amber Finch chose Truckee

As a professional snowboarder Andy had always wanted to live and train in the Lake Tahoe area (he grew up in Fresno, CA). He lived at home in order to save enough to buy this home in Truckee 13 yrs ago. I grew up in Colorado and ended up at school in southern california, i wanted to get back to the mountains and ended up in Truckee, we both love it here and will always have it as our home.

What makes this house unique

Andy loved how open the house is, and the floor plan is an awesome unique layout, with the fire stove running from the bottom floor to the top, so heating is very efficient. There is also a big flat driveway which is pretty essential in the winter time. There are great views and the spacious lot makes it feel like you are truly in the mountains. The location is ideal for Truckee being close to town, the river, Old Greenwood golf course, Ski resorts and getting more sun than any other area in town (we are in the sunbelt).

Comfortable and relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful house in a very quiet area. Hot tub was strong enough to stay hot in sub-zero weather, towels & utensils well-stocked, and the beds were very comfy.

amazing comfortable home in perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great long weekend at the home af Amber and Andy. The house was super clean, very comfortable, and one of the most well stocked rental kitchens we have found.

The best part of our stay was the incredibly "host" quality that Andy had. He was available to answer any questions, from the moment we were interested in renting. He also wanted us to LOVE to stay there, and was happy to accommodate any needs we had. We did LOVE it!

The location is right outside of Truckee with easy access to the town, and the highway. Extremely quiet neighborhood!

Thank you Andy and Amber for letting us stay in your lovely house!

Beautiful Truckee Home

  • 5 of 5

Andy and Amber have a beautifully decorated, large Truckee home that they share with others occasionally. Because it is their own home it is well stocked and ready to go, from the wood stove that heats the whole house to the kitchen with ample condiments. We so enjoyed spending X-mas week there, with new snow everywhere and entertainment of all kinds close by. Andy is very attentive and helpful on the phone and with email.

Thank you for such a memorable X-mas!

Excellent house and host!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't be more pleased with our stay at Andy's house. Not only was he a gracious host, but the house was as good as advertised. Among the many highlights:

- Great wood stove to heat the whole house. Actually pretty fun to operate.

- Kitchen was well stocked and had everything we could have wanted.

- The master bedroom bed was extremely comfortable. Memory foam!

- All the electronics were very up to date and the sound system was awesome.

- Great neighborhood. People were extremely friendly out on the street.

- Living room furniture was very cozy and comfortable.

- Plenty of natural light in the apartment made staying inside on cold days very pleasant.

But probably the best part of the stay was Andy's responsiveness to all our concerns. I never waited more than one minute for him to respond to a request. In short, I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable vacation home in Tahoe.

The Grizzly Vacation Home is a great family place! It has a nice feel, making it easy to relax and enjoy with family. The amenities made it really easy to live as you would at your own home. The home has easy access to many activities in the area. The owners are very nice, friendly and accessible.

This is an adventure and activity mecca, if you are looking for activities to enjoy while on your stay, you will not be disappointed. In the winter months, you can choose from 7 ski resorts within 1/2 hr (2 within 15 min.) You can go on snowmobile tours, dogsledding tours, cross country ski and snowshoe out the back door, or choose from multiple groomed trails. Royal Gorge is 30 min away and is North Americas largest xski center. Northstar Village and downtown Truckee both offer ice skating. Warmer weather activities include fly fishing in the Truckee River, tons of great mountain biking trails, including the famous FLUME trail 35 min away. Spectacular Lake Tahoe is a must see with many activities to enjoy (jetskis, paragliding, beaches, boating, paddleboarding, sightseeing) There are stables that offer horseback rides nearby. Road biking up the famous Old 40 Donner Hwy. Donner lake offers all lake activities and has museums to learn about the 'Donner Party.' If you so desire, there are casinos on Lake Tahoe 20 min away, or Reno NV 40 min away. Downtown Truckee has great shopping and historical sights. It offers tons of great restaurants and coffeeshops. We have 2 major grocery stores and one health food store. In the summer there are farmers markets, Truckee Thursdays (craft/farmers market), And free Wed night concerts in the Park. The truckee River is down the street from us and has great inner tubing, and world renown fly fishing. Hiking trails are in abundance and the Pacific Crest Trail runs through areas of Truckee.
