In the summer, you can enjoy the beach, swimming, or rent a paddleboard, paddleboat, kayak, or pontoon boat. You can also go fishing on one of the beautiful nearby lakes: Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake, or Lake Granby. You can even take in a show at the renowned Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre.
The entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and the Kawuneeche Visitor Center is only 2 miles from our cabin. From there, you can enjoy the amazing Trail Ridge Road drive, with breathtaking views from elevations over 12,000 feet, or explore one of the many hiking and biking trails and enjoy the incredible wildlife sightings the park has to offer.
The Columbine Lake area also has the Grand Lake Golf Course, Nordic Ski Center and Sledding Hill, Sly Fox Restaurant, and hiking trails.
In the winter, Grand Lake is known as the “Snowmobiling Capital of Colorado.” It transforms into a winter wonderland with miles and miles of trails. You can snowmobile from our cabin to over 100 miles of groomed trails or ride into town to one of the many restaurants for dinner.
You can also cross-country ski, snowshoe, or take the kiddos sledding at the Grand Lake Nordic Center, only 1 mile from the cabin. Rental equipment is available. Afterward, enjoy sipping hot chocolate, a hot toddy, or soup at the clubhouse. You can ice fish on one of the 3 surrounding lakes—Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake, and Lake Granby. The place was awesome! Views were amazing! Kitchen was well stocked, and the beds were comfortable. Our group of 7 adults was cozy, but weather was good - patio was great, and we had a wonderful time!
The cabin was perfect for our long weekend. The view from the 'wall of windows' was spectacular, and the deck was a great place to relax, listen to the birds, and watch the amazing sunsets. Very easy to get to the golf course, Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and had a wonderful time.
Amazing property with stunning views! Loved watching the sun come up over the mountain by the lake! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!! Highly recommend!!

This was a perfect option for our group of 5 on the quiet side of the Rockies. We were able to cook, play games, and watch tv together in comfort. It’s right outside the park, and the communication with the owners was excellent. The view! Highly recommend.

The most perfect location to enjoy the Rocky Mountains! Literally minutes from RMNP and from Grand Lake boardwalk. And only about 40 minutes from winter park. That is just the great location. The cabin itself is beautiful and has the most perfect views of sunrises in the mountains. Plus plenty of wildlife walking right by. And it fit my family of six great. Was wonderful watching movies on rainy days and board games at night. Made our experience magical!

Nice, comfortable cottage with water- and mountain views. Well-stocked and clean. Owner very responsive when we got locked out. We saw 3 moose nearby and a family of mule deer came through the backyard. The magpies are also fun to watch! A return visit next year is on our wish list!

Amazing view! The kitchen was well stocked, and we appreciated the paper products that were supplied. The location is minutes from the park entrance and a quick drive to Grand Lake. One minor disappointment was the bike pump was missing so we could not ride the bikes, which were advertised in the listing. Unfortunately, there was no resolution before the end of our stay. We saw deer and a fawn, enjoyed the hummingbirds and all the other birds while relaxing on the deck. Great property, would book again.

Thank you so much for your review and all of your comments! I’m so glad you enjoyed the view, the deck, the wildlife, and the location.
I also appreciate you mentioning the bike pump. When we were back at the cabin, we found the bike pumps tucked away on a shelf in a bowl, so it looks like a previous guest must have put them back in the wrong place. I’m sorry you weren’t able to find them during your stay. I’m also sorry the air compressor wasn’t easier to figure out—we’ll be adding better directions for that as well.
Thank you again, and we’d be happy to have you back anytime!
Heather was extremely responsive and was very helpful during our stay. This cabin was everything we expected and more! Will definitely be staying again in the future!

Amazing view! We loved the deck for morning coffee and sunsets. Great location close to town yet peaceful. The kitchen was well-stocked, and the hosts’ communication was excellent. We’d happily stay again!
Very cozy and clean cabin, well stocked and equipped. Our family had a great relaxing stay. Owners communicated well in advance. Loved the fireplace and stocked wood.
