Hello, this is Anna. I am editing our first response so that it might be more useful for future guests. October is not out of season, we simply as a general rule open the (unheated) swimming pool end of May and close it end of September, though it might be open earlier or close later depending on the weather and other factors; guests who come in October usually do not come to swim as it is autumn already and if it is an important point for them they invariably ask confirmation for pool dates. This year we closed it on the 1st of October and for technical reasons it could not be reopened. It was our mistake not to specify it in our description. We recognized this, apologized and have promptly added this detail. We communicated every day with our guests, sought to offer solutions and make up in other ways for this misunderstanding, as we were of course upset that our guests were not happy, but to no avail. So we reiterated our excuses and offered to reimburse any night the guests would not stay if they chose to go elsewhere, which is what eventually happened. We have set check-in hours but as guests wished to arrive earlier and we always try to be flexible we told them they could arrive earlier but not before a specific time as the whole family was still harvesting that day. The guests arrived well before the agreed time and the owner herself – my mother – rushed to meet them although she was still busy. The house was heated but we also gave firewood for the fireplace and extra blankets as asked. We had explained there is a manual in the house with many tips and info on the area, including restaurants etc, but also told guests they could ask us for any direct recommendation which we are always most happy to give as we know our area very well, but they did not ask. Before leaving the guests stated – unprompted – that they would not leave a negative review as they understood it was a misunderstanding and the place itself was lovely, for which we thanked them.
