Il Diaccino is an enchanting small villa, perfect for two, with a magnificent view. It overlooks an extraordinary landscape of hills, vineyards and olive groves, with Siena in the backgroud.
All of il Diaccino rooms are furnished with a taste for refined elegance. The entrance leads to the spacious living room that has large windows overlooking the garden and the unique view. There are two very comfortable sofa beds, armchairs, tables, lamps and a bookcase. Also on the ground floor, guests enjoy a large fully equipped kitchen/dining room with a door leading onto the garden. Before going upstairs to the bedroom, you find the bathroom with shower. Also the double bedroom with closet enjoys the beautiful view. Outdoors a covered private terrace with dining facilities. The pool may be shared with guests at Le Diacce(VRBO listing 281961). A tall thick edge separates il Diaccino from Le Diacce. Privacy is assured. To reach il Diaccino there is a private road and a private parking.
This little Villa is a gem. It is beautifully decorated and has everything that one would need. The pictures were very accurate and Franca was amazing! She was so kind and was there for anything we wanted. For our first night, she made reservations at a close by yet very excellent and delicious restaurant. We had the opportunity to seeing their wine being bottled and Franca took her time to explain everything to us. The wines of their vineyard were a special treat. We enjoyed the silence - that is so hard to find these days and it was an excellent base to explore Tuscany.
At the top of the Podere Cione vineyard is Le Diacce. My wife, daughter and I stayed nearly a week in the small stone house covered in vines with a commanding view. At night, in the far distance, you can see the lights of Siena. Surrounded by olive trees in the rolling hills in the heart of Tuscany, Le Diacce commands your attention away from life's temporal distractions. But keeping expectations in check is key to unlocking the joy of discovery, Le Diacce is a small, simple, comfortable home perfect for two but two more can sleep on the roomy couches in the living room like my daughter did. The one-bedroom home is humbly situated in a sublime setting near the village of Montegrossoli. The property has a pool that is shared with the adjoining larger rental home. But the best thing about Le Diacce is its proprietor. The Indefatigable Franca runs Podere Cione and creates its superb wines including Chianti, Chianti Classico, its Reserve and Le Diacce, a blend named for the property. Franca is one of those rare people that reminds us that relationships are of paramount importance. Her English is good and her knowledge of Tuscany is encyclopedic. We had a wonderful time discovering Tuscany with Franca's help including the nearby restaurants, castles and wineries and day trips to Siena and Florence. We hope to return soon to the best place on earth.
This Tuscan cottage was truly fabulous! The photos on the site are beautiful, of course, but they do not do it justice. The house is adorable, and well furnished with local and antique furniture. And the view will take your breath away! From the front window you can see all the way to Sienna across the Tuscan countryside! Spectacular. There is a master bedroom with a king bed, and en suite bathroom (1/2 bath), and two day bed/couches in the main room so it could sleep 4, but probably ideal for 2. My wife and I cooked breakfasts (there is a full kitchen), and ate most dinners out. There is another rental house on the same property (Il Diacce) that shares the pool, but the landscaping provides for total privacy. The owner, Franca, was wonderful, friendly, and FULL of useful information and recommendations. She knows the area really well and made us reservations at two of the most delicious wonderful restaurants we have ever eaten at. Ask her about her cooking class, it is worth it!
My wife, twenty something daughter and I enjoyed two weeks in this charming Tuscan house. It was fully equipped and very comfortable. The views were unbelievable and while there is another house 60 feet away, we felt very private. There is a sparkling pool to use as well, and we did. The first week there were guests in the other home which shared the pool, but it actually added to the fun to talk with other people who are also enamored with Italy and Tuscany. Our daughter's friend visited us for a few days as well and there was plenty of room for her as well.
The location is 20 minutes away from Gaiole or Radda. The last 1/2 mile is on an unpaved road (not unusual in Tuscany). After the first drive in, it proved to be easy and we went in and out many times with no problems.
The owners were always helpful and available with restaurant and tourist tips. We also attended their cooking school and enjoyed a delicious dinner at the winery. We also enjoyed dinner at a restaurant only 2 miles away.
The final question is would we want to come again? The answer is yes!! It is not luxurious by any means, but exactly what we were looking for in a country side vacation.
