Perfection in Tuscany
As world travelers, rarely do we find places where we long to return.
However Franca’s beautiful mountain villa is a place I could easily see us returning to, and even calling home. Nestled deep in the beautiful mountains of the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany, you will find a peaceful escape from the crowded museums of Rome and Florence, where you can relax with a bottle of local Chianti Classico in front of the fire and ponder your time in Italy. All too often we spend our trips running from site to site, museum to museum, and we miss out on savoring what it would really be like to live in a place like this. The villas are engulfed in absolute quiet, surrounded by olive trees, vineyards and plenty of local wildlife. Check-in and check-out was simple, and Franca didn’t make us feel like foreign visitors, but rather honored guests. The villa we stayed in was private, and quite large. The bedroom was comfortable and we spent several nights relaxing in the living room in front of the fireplace. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked and had everything needed. The location was a great 'home base' for exploring the Chianti region. The closest small town, Gaiole in Chianti, was magical, truly a step back in time. We couldn't resist visiting frequently to pick up provisions.
All in all, it was one of the most memorable and nicest places we have visited in the world, and we will hopefully return again in the future. Our sincere gratitude to Franca, who is truly one of the greatest hosts we have encountered.
A slice of heaven in Chianti
My husband and I spent 2 weeks plus at Il Diaccino and it was perfect for us. The house, space, and furnishings are better than the pictures show. Wonderful warm October sunsets overlooking the olive trees and vineyards. We used the house as our base for our stay in Tuscany and were able to take in the hill towns on day trips using Il Diaccino as our base. Evenings we enjoyed making our own meals in the well equipped kitchen and enjoying the quiet solitude of Montegrossi. As others have noted, Franca is a wonderful host and she made a number of great restaurant and sight-seeing recommendations. Everything in the house functioned well, including the fireplace for evenings when the temperature dipped. Altogether, it was a perfect place for us to thoroughly enjoy our first visit to Tuscany.
Dear Doug and Marie,
I always try to assist and help the travellers who choose my house.
I can only say you were the perfect guests.
It was a pleasure to welcome and host you at Il Diaccino!
As good as it gets!
We had wonderful experience with Franca and overall with this property. Flexible arrival time was ok with Franca, unlike some other properties we visited on this trip. The property is as beautiful as in pictures, if not more. Clean, bright, spacious, excellent pool. Private and relaxing, perfect getaway. Will recommend it to my friends.
I always try to offer to my guests the kind of welcome I would like to receive when traveling in a foreign country.
I am at disposal to give any kind of tips: places to visit, restaurants worth booking, local outdoor activities( horse riding, biking, tennis),indications to rent cars locally or hire expert guides for local tours....
My husband and I had wanted to go to Italy for years, and we decided that our 30th wedding anniversary was the perfect reason to make it happen. Part of our trip included a week stay in this beautiful villa in the heart of the Chianti region. The villa itself is very spacious, charmingly decorated, and well appointed, including a bottle of Podere Ciona wine chilling in the fridge upon our arrival. The owners were extremely helpful with information about the area - suggesting restaurants, shopping, side trips, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed the winery tour and tasting, hosted by Lorenzo and Jennifer. Lorenzo provided us with information on how to buy Podere Ciona wine in the states, and we will be stocking up. Also, highly recommend attending the cooking class given by Franca and her sister. Not only was the food / drink delicious, but the family atmosphere. coupled with the lovely setting with views of Sienna were a perfect way to end a fabulous week. Finally, I cannot say enough about the views - such a sense of peace relaxing with a glass of wine in those sling back chairs overlooking the Podere Ciona estate and the Tuscan hills as a backdrop. Thank you Gatteschi family for a truly memorable trip!
This little Villa is a gem. It is beautifully decorated and has everything that one would need. The pictures were very accurate and Franca was amazing! She was so kind and was there for anything we wanted. For our first night, she made reservations at a close by yet very excellent and delicious restaurant. We had the opportunity to seeing their wine being bottled and Franca took her time to explain everything to us. The wines of their vineyard were a special treat. We enjoyed the silence - that is so hard to find these days and it was an excellent base to explore Tuscany.
Could not have been better!
This Tuscan cottage was truly fabulous! The photos on the site are beautiful, of course, but they do not do it justice. The house is adorable, and well furnished with local and antique furniture. And the view will take your breath away! From the front window you can see all the way to Sienna across the Tuscan countryside! Spectacular. There is a master bedroom with a king bed, and en suite bathroom (1/2 bath), and two day bed/couches in the main room so it could sleep 4, but probably ideal for 2. My wife and I cooked breakfasts (there is a full kitchen), and ate most dinners out. There is another rental house on the same property (Il Diacce) that shares the pool, but the landscaping provides for total privacy. The owner, Franca, was wonderful, friendly, and FULL of useful information and recommendations. She knows the area really well and made us reservations at two of the most delicious wonderful restaurants we have ever eaten at. Ask her about her cooking class, it is worth it!
Just lovely start my day with your review!
To welcome our guests and do our best to offer them the best possible time in Chianti is our main goal.
To receive a positive feedback is so pleasant and very rewarding.
