Lakemore Retreat is comprised of three rental properties: 'Lakemore Lodge', 'Lakemore Cottage' and 'Lakemore Cabin'. Pictured here, the house with red exterior, is Lakemore Lodge. Lakemore Cottage is the green house, Lakemore Cabin is wood sided. The Cottage and Lodge are luxury homes built in 2015 that each sleep 12, up to 14 with available cots. They are side by side and offer exactly the same amenities and floor plan, just with very different interior design. Lakemore Cabin is our newly acquired home adjacent to the Cottage. Completely gutted and renovated in 2016, the Cabin sleeps 9-10 and features updated HVAC, A/C, new drywall, a remodeled kitchen, screened porch, game room and detached guest house with full bath. The properties are rented individually, but many families rent two or all three for the same time period, altogether sleeping up to 34 people comfortably. Make reservations for Lakemore Lodge here and look for Lakemore Cottage (VRBO Listing #653686) and Lakemore Cabin (VRBO Listing #783700) on their respective VRBO sites.
The lodge, a mirror image of the cottage’s floor plan with all the same amenities, takes on a dramatically different feel with rich Walnut architectural detail and metal accents. This “industrial chic” style home will remind you of a mountainside lodge, yet the tranquil views of Arbutus Lake sunsets will make you glad you are vacationing in Northern Michigan. Come enjoy the thoughtfully designed luxury and superior craftsmanship of Lakemore Retreat’s Lodge.
Embrace the many benefits of this all sports inland lake where the 395 acres are swimmable from May until October, the fishing is plentiful and the conditions are perfect for many water sports including kayaking, stand up paddle-boarding, water skiing and tubing, all while being minutes away from Traverse City’s restaurants, shops, wineries, golf and more.
Lakemore Retreat is directly adjacent to The Brown Bridge Quiet Area which offers miles of hiking trails. Like to snowmobile? Leave right from the property and access Boardman Valley Trail System's 81 miles of trails! Boardman River is also within 3 miles, a great place to do river tubing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. We are only 7 mi. from Vasa Single Track, a great Mountain Bike trail system. In addition, The Vasa is home to 25 km of groomed cross country trails. Mount Holiday is just 15 minutes away, a local downhill ski hill. Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is 30 miles away.
This setting is perfect for relaxing Lakefront Vacationing away from the hussle of town, but be sure to leave time for a short 15 minute drive to the city. About Tricia Adams
We are Dean and Tricia Adams, both Northern Michigan natives. Dean is owner of Bay Area Contracting, a highly regarded custom home builder/ general contractor in the Traverse City area. Tricia is a Neonatal ICU nurse. We both love to travel, which means we know what people want in a vacation property. Also, we live on the lake, which means we built these homes with all the ammenities and conveniences desired by anyone living or vacationing on a lake.
Tricia Adams purchased this House in 2014
Why Tricia Adams chose Traverse City
Arbutus Lake is a special place, we know this because we live here. It's an all sports lake with a public boat launch. Arbutus is great for high speed boating, yet it still offers the quiet serenity of a small lake. Even the busiest days on Arbutus don't compare to the craziness of a regular summer day on the more populated inland lakes of the Traverse City area.
What makes this House unique
This property (containing two lots) was appealing for us to invest in because of our ability to build two homes side by side and because of they offer direct lake access. Many lots on Arbutus Lake are up high and require stairs and long winding pathways to reach the lake. Lakemore Retreat is at lake level and the walk to the sandy beach is as easy as it gets.

Beautiful home on a beautiful lake!
This home has it all and the owners truly thought of every detail. Couldn't have asked for a more comfortable and relaxing setting for friends to gather. Plenty of room for all to be together or enjoy quiet time alone. Master and hall bedroom have very firm beds but wouldn't stop us from coming back. Just beware if hard beds are an issue for you. Rent a Pontoon from Rob- he's awesome!! Get a pie from Traverse City Pie Company- delicious! Travel out to the Mission Penisula for wine and lavender farm. And be sure to visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes!! Amazing water colors!
Fabulous place to stay. Our family reunion was very enjoyable here.
Rented all 3 houses for a family reunion and they were PERFECT! Would definitely recommend.
We rented all 3 Lakemore Retreat homes for a week in August for a family reunion. There were 28 of us in total. Renting all 3 houses worked out perfect for us. The homes were beautiful, clean and the owners thought of everything. Both the houses and the property are beautiful and extremely well maintained. We loved having the paddle boards and the kayaks available to paddle around on the lake. The views of the lake were amazing from the homes. It was so peaceful and comfortable at Lakemore Retreat! We utilized the fire pit, hot tubs, grills, outdoor games and they all added to our wonderful experience. We loved that there were plenty of beach towels and chairs for everyone. Tricia was always available if we needed anything and took care of any issues immediately. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Well built home on a beautiful lake. The owners are very nice and responsive.
Wonderful week in Northern Michigan
It was even better than we had anticipated and hoped for.
My family and I, a total of 14 people, had an absolutely terrific time. The owners thought of everything. They were incredibly wonderful to work with very quick to respond with the few questions that we had. The home itself is incredibly beautiful. The lake amazing. All of the amenities better than even hoped for. I would definitely stay here again and look forward to doing so next year!
This home is exceptional!!
Wow, is all I can say about the Lodge. We rented all three homes for famiy reunion, but Cottage and Lodge were my favorites. The owners spared no expensive on amenities or quality. Both houses are incredible! My 22 family members were in awe of it all. The inside and outside activities avaiable, and just the sheer beauty of the homes and Lake. Thank you Lakemore Retreat for the best week ever!
Lakemore Retreat's Lodge is one of two available lakefront properties (Lakemore Cottage is next door). Both properties can be rented individually or together, doubling your occupancy to 24. Both homes are new construction and were built directly on the shores of Arbutus Lake, with easy access to the water (no steps or cliffs) and optimal views of the lake.
