Wonderful villa with private pool and stunning Tuscan views in Greve in chianti

Bedrooms 5
Space 3,800 sq. ft.
Property type villa

About the property

Charming 5BDR villa with private pool and gorgeous views in Greve in Chianti!

This wonderful recently restored 5BDR villa is located in the heart of the Chianti region, just steps away from the town of Greve.

The villa traces its origin back to the 1300 and has recently been tastefully renovated and exquisitely furnished. The careful attention to details by the owner, who has owned the property for more than 35 years, contributes into making this villa a truly unique place with a very sophisticated, cozy and elegant atmosphere.

From the villa it is possible to enjoy the most lovely views on the typical Tuscan landscape, full of vineyards, olive groves and cypress peaked hillsides.

The garden of the villa is always perfectly kept and features plenty of outdoors furniture for the 2 covered verandas as well as for the pool area... Which makes it perfect for just relaxing enjoying the views or for al fresco dining (there is also a large barbecue available).

The private swimming pool (size 45 x 19 feet) enjoys wonderful views over the typical Tuscan countryside and comes fully furnished with lounges and shaded areas.

Location: the villa is located in Greve in Chianti, which is often considered as the “entrance gate” into the Chianti region. The beautiful main square of Greve, Piazza Matteotti, is the focal point of the town and can be easily reached from the villa on foot (about 10 minutes walk), by bike, or by car (3 minutes drive).

At the Piazza Matteotti there is several excellent restaurants such as the Osteria Mangiando Mangiando, the Bottega del Moro or the Osteria del chianti classico as well as many other typical grocery stores, Artisan shops and the famous Antica Macelleria Falorni (a Tuscan butcher that has been in the same spot since 1729). Nearby the square there is also a supermarket.

Walking distance from the villa there is a bus stop where it is possible to take several buses to Florence or other nearby locations such as San Gimignano or Siena.

Description of the interiors: The villa features 5 charming bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in total.

Ground Floor: The villa's main door opens onto a welcoming sitting room followed by a large living room with fireplace and TV. From the entrance's sitting room there is a few stairs to reach the first bedroom (with two twin beds) and the ensuite bathroom.

The dining area is directly connected to the outdoor's veranda (that comes fully furnished with sofas and very comfortable furniture) and the garden. Next to dining room is the spacious and fully equipped kitchen that comes with a large wood dining table (that seats up to 10).

First Floor: Halfway up the stairs from the ground floor's living room going to the first floor, there is a double bedroom (with two twin beds) and right next to it a bathroom with tub.

On the first floor there is another double bedroom with two twin beds and a double bedroom (with Queen bed) that share a bathroom with shower.

At the end of the first floor's corridor there is the magnificent master bedroom (with King bed) with the ensuite bathroom with tub. The villa is air-conditioned.

Absolutely beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

Our family (3 adult couples + 2 single adults + 2 children) absolutely loved this house. It has many interior and exterior spaces for hanging out, the rooms are wonderfully cool with individual AC (very important in summer!!), the outdoor dining tables are fantastic, and of course the pool was refreshingly cool, private, and bigger than we imagined! The whole property overlooks beautiful vistas and we enjoyed magical sunsets every evening. It was extremely clean, the kitchen had everything we needed, Giovanni (Andrea's son) was an excellent host and communicator, and really there was nothing we lacked for or needed. As others have mentioned, the property is up a steep hill, so you do need a car to get into Greve or to explore the area, but we knew that and were prepared. You really shouldn't hesitate, this property gave us a wonderful stay for a very special family occasion. Thanks again Giovanni!

Perfect villa!

  • 5 of 5

This villa was a perfect base for our 6 night stay in Tuscany. We were 2 families (7 adults) and had plenty of room. We especially loved all the outdoor seating options! The views were amazing and the grounds were extremely well kept. The pool was a welcome treat after exploring the area on hot, sunny days. The location couldn't have been any better. It was very peaceful and quiet but a very short walk into Montefioralle which had a winery and two restaurants (we ate at one, Ristorante la Castellana, which was delicious). It's about a 15-20 minute walk into Greve in Chianti which has many restaurants, shops and a grocery store. The walk back is up a steep hill but the road is well paved. It was very easy to take the bus from Greve into Florence for a nice day trip. We booked this house not knowing anything about the area and relied on the other reviews. We are so happy we did! Everything from booking to check in to check out went so smoothly. Andrea quickly answered all of my emails and provided us with a wonderful packet of information about the house and area before we left. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer!

Heart of Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a villa in the heart of Tuscany look no further! This beautiful property is situated on a hill with amazing views of the olive groves and vineyards. Perfect for larger groups of 7-8 adults. We absolutely loved the accommodations and proximity to Florence and other sites. A short walk to Greve in Chianti for dinners and groceries made this complete.

Absolute Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more impressed with this part of our trip. The villa was located in the perfect position, between two wonderful villages, Greve and Montefioralle. Both within walking distance, had all the amenities and services we required. There was 5 adults and 3 children, and the villa was more than adequate to accommodate us. The grounds were immaculate, and the pool crystal clear. Housekeeping was there 3 times a week, and the house was kept very clean. We had an amazing time, had a cooking class and many lazy days by the pool.

Many thanks to Giovanni (Andrea's son), who even purchased some groceries for us as we were running late for our check in.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this villa to anyone, and look forward to future stays at this address.

Tuscan Treat

  • 5 of 5

Podere Il Castello is a charming villa within walking distance of the hilltop village of Montefioralle, home to two good restaurants, a small cafe and a nearby winery. The villa is beautifully decorated and full of the owner's family photos and belongings. We were six adults but it could easily accommodate 10 comfortably with plenty of space. The property includes a very nice pool and several outdoor seating areas where meals can be taken and leisure time spent. The property is gated and very private, although street noise is pronounced due to the villa's location close to the road. Hot water was at times limited, which the owner said he would check, and wifi was spotty at best, a common problem everywhere we went in Italy. All in all, this is a very enjoyable property from which to explore the beauty of Chianti. The town of Greve is also a short drive or 20 minute walk and has excellent shops and good restaurants on the main piazza.

Extraordinary place to unwind and get to know Chianti and Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

We spent 12 days in July at Andrea’s property in the hilly outskirts of Greve. Two families of five. We planned to bike and use it as a base for short visits to neighboring towns & sights. It was well suited for both. We were looking for a nonstandard 12-day period and Andrea gladly accommodated. Andrea was helpful answering questions for planning.

Upon arrival, Giovanni met us. The property is located on a couple of acres, with olive groves, gardens filled with herbs and lavender and a large pool. There is a lived in feel to the house, which we came to appreciate. The 5 rooms and 4 bathrooms were well equipped. The decoration and feel is homey. I believe that the website pictures do not do justice to the space and the views.

The kitchen and inside dining room are comfy, if somewhat dark. Both families are foodies and buying our food and cooking was an integral part of the vacation. The kitchen proved very effective for our endeavors. A good dishwashing machine made cleanup easy. There is a good laundry room with a decent sized washer.

The outside sitting & dinning space and pool and gazebo are great. This is where anyone should spend most of their time: eating, drinking and just enjoying the great views. One piece of advice for those who grill: I asked about the grill in advance and I was told there was one…and indeed, there is one. Do not be misled by the fact that the charcoal grill is just a few bricks set against a wall and a metal grill. We grilled three memorable meals in it and now have newfound respect for the simplicity of this grill. (For grillers… try the 3.5 -inch Bistecca Fiorentina at Macelleria Ceccinni in Panzano). Fiorella and Romano, the housekeepers, would show up every couple of days to help clean the house and pool and ensure everything was in order.

The location is enviable. Walking distance to Greve (about 1km down a steep incline). A well-stocked COOP (supermarket), the weekly market and meat shops are just a 4-minute drive from the house. For freaks (and their kids) that go to Tuscany and want their home’s high-speed connection, one piece of advice… “spotty internet” is a plus. It allowed our group to engage with Tuscany and each other. Yes, you could download emails and upload instagrams or snapchats, but no streaming….and our family is much better for it.

I highly recommend the location for anyone looking for this type of adventure in Tuscany. We hope to be back and send friends to Andrea and Giovanni.
