This is a Single-Family Home located at 6 Sea Lavender Court, Bald Head Island NC. The home boasts 5 bedrooms, 5 baths, and approximately 3100 square feet with an amazing ocean view and large, multilevel, wraparound wooden decking and gazebo. Bald Head Island Club guest Sport membership with Golf privileges available. Golf cart, bicycles, and tandem sea kayak included.

This property is the perfect home-away-from-home for families who want to experience a direct ocean access vacation with activities for all ages and interests. THe master suite has a king bed, the junior suite and 2 additional bedrooms have queen beds, and the 5th bedroom for kids will (per guest suggestion!) be outfitted for 2016 with 2 sets of bunkbeds (for a total of 4 mattresses). So to clarify about the 12 guests: at least 2 of them are expected to be kids who are comfortable on the top bunk.

Beginning March 1st, 2017, if you book the week of June 17-24, July 8-15, Aug 12-19, or Aug 29-26, you will also receive a sailboat tour for four adults through The Sail Shop on Bald Head Island, which is a run by Riverside Adventures.

House/bedroom configuration is as follows:

Ground floor: main entrance off circular driveway court, outdoor enclosed shower, covered sitting breezeway, bath/shower with W/D, and owner's apartment with private entrance, full/futon couch/bed with twin bunk bed on top, A/V setup, and small workshop. This apt is not included in the base rental amount, but on occasion has been made available for very large parties (at an additional fee).

Main floor: great room with 2-sided fireplace connecting the reading room/study, dining room with seating for 8, breakfast bar with seating for 4, and kitchen. This floor, with a half step-up in some areas, has a wraparound deck covering over 90% of the exterior/perimeter of the house, with fantastic ocean views from most of it. This deck also has a large covered gazebo with exposure to the ocean and west/sunset views.

Half flight of stairs up: ocean facing QUEEN bedroom with direct access to the gazebo/deck, maritime forest facing QUEEN bedroom with deck access to the gazebo, a maritime forest facing kids bedroom with 2 SETS OF TWIN BEDS (sleeping 4 kids) and a full bathroom with tub/shower for this half floor.

Half flight of stairs up: Junior Suite with QUEEN bed, private balcony with ocean view, and private bathroom with shower.

Final Half flight of stairs up: Master Suite with KING bed, private balcony with direct ocean facing view, 2-sink bathroom with separate shower and Jacuzzi tub.

Our 2 kids' summers were spent growing up in this home, but now that they're grown and living out West we're making it available for a few weeks each summer to 'share the joy'. Why Dennis Crumpler chose Southern Coast

Warm family feel, spacious, stunning views from dune ridge but with the beach right across the street, grocery store and shopping arcade 4 blocks away, BHI Club (golf, tennis, croquet, exercise center, restaurants) a 5 minute cart ride, and marina/ferry 10 minutes drive. We put the 2 lots in front of the house in permanent conservation easement to preserve the view and enhance the sense of privacy in the house.

The expansive great room can be configured to comfortably seat 25-30 people for a wedding, family reunion, or corporate event. This great room flows out onto an expansive, multi-layered deck which provides an ideal view of the ocean and nighttime stars.

The property is also centrally located on the Island, right in the middle of South Beach facing the ocean.

What makes this house unique

Walking, Biking and golf carts rule the roads here (no cars allowed); great blend of privacy, spacious views, and removal from the crowd where the island and house are concerned but with the benefits of a world class Golf Club, shopping, grocery store, spa, and restaurants all within a 5-10 minutes away. Healthy variety of watersport, fishing, food, art and shopping vendors on the island make it a great place for everyone in the family to find something fun to do. Or just sit on the deck or on the expansive beach and soak up the view!

Our home feels roomy and comfortable, with an expansive great room that draws people together but with plenty of places for privacy and wrap-around decking to secure peaceful moments.

My family has stayed at this house for many years. It is our absolute favorite house to vacation at on Bald Head Island. The house is very spacious, and is perfect for large family gatherings. It is beautifully decorated and has everything you could need, lots of comfy seating, a large table where everyone can eat together, wonderful bed linens with comfortable beds and a fully stocked kitchen. There is a tremendous amount of deck space with views of the ocean and the protected dunes in front of the house. My children beg everyone year to return to this house where we have had so many wonderful memories!

You are paying for the location

This house is in an ideal location, but....

The kitchen is a disaster. The fridge quit working at the last day so we were able to survive but cleaning up was a challenge because everything was melted. The kitchen is really dated; the cabinets are broken. The decor is dated and extremely cluttered and unappealing. The bathrooms are super dated and we had to call the plumber to unclog a bathtub shower. The plumber unclogged it and proceed to show my nephews the culprit of the clog, causing one of my nephews to nearly lose his lunch that he was in the process of eating. It took months for my sister to get her security deposit back and only after numerous attempts to find out why she didn't get the entire amount she found out we were charged for the dogs we brought. We didn't pay for them at the outset because we weren't sure they would come and when they ended up coming for only 3 nights and the guy that took the payment was on vacation and unavailable. Finally the owners don't make it clear what you are paying for.Turns out we were responsible for $900 more than we expected when we arrived. The owners are new owners so perhaps they have gotten things worked out now, but I would not spend that kind of money on this house again.

Owner's Response: So very sorry for your disappointment; this is the first negative review we've ever had, so it is taken seriously as you'll hopefully experience in reading my comments below. Your observations about decor would suggest that you may not have seen the ample color photos of all rooms and honest description of the home on the vrbo site for what it is: a long-term family asset, shared rather than sold now that our kids are grown, on a barrier island always one bad hurricane away from oblivion. It has never been positioned or pitched as a design statement. Maintenence on BHI is as much art as science, and our dedicated crew at least showed up to clear the plumbing and promptly replace the fridge - in what was (as July 4th) the hottest and busiest week of the summer season. Many rental houses charge premiums for that week and for homes capable of sleeping 15 people. Our pricing strategy is not to maximize revenue but to fill the 8-10 summer weeks we have to sell early, keep the house clean and systems up to date, and leave modern decorating statements to Southern Living. As to dog fees and the deposit return, my CPA did as instructed, which was to refund the security deposit minus the unpaid (and clearly advertised) pet fees once all issues and questions were identified and resolved. Unfortunately, the person who signed the rental agreement had to be reminded multiple times in email exchanges that she had committed to pay if dogs came. Note: we are dog fanatics and allow guests to bring them on vacation as a result of true canine love; the fee is what experience dictates is at or below our actual cost of extra cleaning and depreciation. If there was any charge withheld that was not appropriately described in our ad, please have the person who signed your rental agreement contact me and we will adjust accordingly. We strive to make everyone's stay in our home enjoyable and successful, and will treat this review as encouragement to set expectations clearly and do all we can to exceed them. Dennis

Perfect vacation

6 Sea Lavender exceeded our expectations. The house easily accommodated our family reunion of 9 adults, 3 kids, and one infant. With people going in every direction all the time, we loved having use of two golf carts and being so close to beaches and the market. And when we were actually all in the house at the same time, there was plenty of room for board games (provided) inside, a gathering on one of the many decks, and cooking. The house was stocked with kitchen supplies, sand toys, and linens. The house felt open and well lit with natural light. Our favorite things were the deck swings/hammocks, storms that rolled in at night, the ocean breeze, roomy outdoor shower, and witnessing dozens of sea turtles make their way to the ocean (check out BHI Conservancy for times/places). Sea Lavender was a perfect place for our vacation. I only wish we could have stayed forever.

Great house, great location, great island

Two large families (and first time Bald Head Island visitors) rented 6 Sea Lavender Court and we loved the house and the island.

The house is huge - plenty of room for our families (11 people total) and super comfortable. The furniture is cozy, the house is nicely decorated and the location was great. We appreciated being not too far from the market and just across the street from the beach. Also, the A/C kept the place comfortable and the TV/music set up was really great for the adults to listen to music while cooking and hanging out and kids to watch movies at night.

Two sets washer/dryers made laundry a breeze and the multiple bathrooms made it so no one had to wait their turn. The outdoor shower is also nice and the big golf cart made it easy to get around the island.

Can't say enough about the house or working with Dennis and the nice folks he has helping with the house.

I'd recommend passes to the BHI club for the week (the pool scene is great for kids and the golf course is a beauty.)

Beautiful house on a beautiful beach

I stayed at 6 Sea Lavender with a few friends and family for Memorial Day Weekend and it was the most amazing experience. The house is incredibly lovely and right on the water. It was large enough to accommodate everyone, yet still felt cozy and homey. There are many decks from which to admire the great views (and you'll never want to leave the super comfortable porch swing). Plus, the house is fully stocked with board games and other fun activities for rainy days. The house and the island are incredible and we had such an amazing time. We definitely didn't want to leave. Hope to come back to this house very soon!

Sea Lavender = Beautiful Sanctuary

I’ve been coming to Bald Head Island for decades and stayed at Sea Lavender several times. It is a truly beautiful home, extremely spacious but with a cozy feel to it. The house is well decorated and maintained. In my opinion its location is one of the best on Bald Head—very close to the beach, both country clubs, shopping, and grocery store. Definitely recommend!
