Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a perfect week at "Peace of Maine." The house was roomy enough to comfortably accommodate 6 adults. We enjoyed the large deck and ate many dinners outside. The kitchen is well-stocked, the linens are plentiful, and the furnishings are lovely. The water view was a constant source of pleasure. We will definitely return!

Again, thanks for your beautiful cottage. We truly had a wonderful time.

A Peace of Maine Heaven on Pemaquid Bay

  • 5 of 5

We were so sorry to have to leave this beautiful place! The home was excellently equipped. We appreciated the roll-away bed, the thick fluffy towels and the charming decorations. The neighbors were friendly and helpful. We saw a bald eagle the last morning we were there.

We made many trips to the lighthouse as well as the colonial fort around the corner. We had a wonderful breakfast at the Cupboard Cafe, within walking distance. We had a fun time on the wildlife kayak tour with Maine Kayak as well. Everywhere one looks there is a photographic moment. Provisions are readily available in Damariscotta at a beautiful Hannafords grocery store (including the excellent Wicked Joes coffee) if you miss Trader Joe's in Portland. Be sure to head to Pemaquid Seafood across the bay from the house for the quintessential Maine seafood feast. We had a blast on the Puffin Boat tour out of New Harbor with Hardy Boats. We had 4 groups of guests during our stay and no one wanted to leave. We would return to Peace of Maine and hope too in the future!

Best Vacation Ever!

  • 5 of 5

This house is wonderful! It's very clean and in great condition. The two upstairs bedrooms share a full bathroom and one has an amazing view out over the water. There is a den with a small tv that can accommodate one or two of the provided cots. The large family room has lots of windows overlooking the water so who needs a television? The kitchen is very well stocked with plenty of pots, pans, dishes, bowls, silverware, and cookware. Everything you need for a lobster dinner can be found there.

Somethings you might want to bring are a portable stereo, camera, and fishing gear as well as plenty of sunscreen and bug spray.

It has no dock of it's own (the ones in the pictures belong to the neighbors) but kayaks could be launched from the shore around high tide. Any other time, there are boat launches just down Huddle Road at both the public dock and by The Contended Soul.

Great bike riding abounds too! Be sure to head over to Long Cove Point Road and visit the tidal pool at the Rachel Carson Salt Flat Preserve.

Wonderful, Well Appointed Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 (kids 4 & 1) recently returned from our early season vacation stay at "A Piece of Maine" and have nothing but glowing praise all around. The cottage is immaculately clean and beautifully furnished; it's abundantly clear that the owner's put a lot of thought and attention into every detail. Beautiful scenery from the deck area and a well manicured yard punctuated our relaxing stay. We are counting the days for another visit next year.

Peaceful, well equipped and convenient to beach, harbor and grocery

  • 5 of 5

Our three generation family vacation was simply delightful and restful. Peace of Maine cottage is comfortable and spacious with space for all your vacation needs. So convenient to the beach park and we kayaked off the back lawn as well as swimming. We loved the house, the landscaping and location. Fantastic!

Wonderful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The cottage has a wonderful view of lobster boats in the harbor and you can sit all day just watching the harbor from the deck and the living room if the weather is not great. The cottage is well equipped and everything is provided down to the aromatherapy candle by the chairs on the deck. We have stayed in many cottages in a number of locations over the years and this was by far the best. It is conveniently located for day trips around the mid coast of Maine. We hope to stay here again in the future.

A Peace of Maine was a perfect place to call "home" for a September week's vacation. The immaculate cottage provided ample outdoor and indoor space for the four adults on the trip. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the spacious deck and flowers surrounding the deck. The kitchen was well equipped and there were more than enough linens for everyone. The location of the home was convenient for all our day trips up and down the Maine coast. Our only complaint was the absence of a satellite/cable television connection: we neglected to observe this fact in the overview of the home.

We thank the Friedmans for sharing their beautiful cottage with us for our perfect Maine vacation
