The bright and spacious living room offers comfortable furnishing with panoramic views of the water. The media room is equipped with a flat screen TV monitor with a DVD player and XBOX 360 with Kinect connected to high speed internet for those rainy days.
A large deck faces Pemaquid Harbor and is the perfect spot to relax in an Adirondack chair and watch the boating and lobstering activities on the harbor, or to catch a beautiful sunset. A well-tended lawn surrounds the house, with annual and perennial gardens in bloom during the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons adding to the charm.
You are about a mile away from the jewel of the Midcoast, the Pemaquid Beach, with its wonderful white sands. We look forward to another stay at your place
We come back to this area every fall from Arizona. It is a great escape from our "Warm" summers. Your place was just great. It was very clean & comfortable. We hope to get back there again next fall.

More than we expected
We are three couples in our sixties and have done an annual trip to Maine for about five years in a row. We always like to stay at different places so we can get a real feel of the coastal Maine.
This cottage was perfect for us. Great location, view and the cottage (really a home) was wonderful. A wonderful central location to so many different restaurants and attractions.
Beautiful bedrooms (we love the ceiling fans), two nice full baths and a kitchen that looks out over the water with everything you would need.
Definitely one of the best places that we have stayed at.
Beautiful and Rejuvenating Vacation Spot
We very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely home right on the water. The view is very pretty and the long piers add an interesting element to the scenery which the birds also seem to like. We enjoyed watching the sea birds each day from the deck and saw herons, kingfishers, osprey, cormorants and seagulls. The hammock down by the water was a big hit and provided a very relaxing spot to read.
The neighbors were very nice. The woman, I forgot her name, who watered the plants was very friendly and took good care of the flowers. Being a plant lover I particularly enjoyed the many different planters of colorful flowers which adorned the property. How did you get those begonias by the front door to grow so large and beautiful?
We found the bedrooms and beds comfortable. One of the sleep number beds control units didn't have a working display which made it a little tricky to adjust for those of us unfamiliar with this type of bed. It was a minor nuisance that didn't detract from our overall enjoyment of our vacation.
The kitchen is bright and cheerful and is very well equipped. We enjoyed having different choices about where to eat our meals -indoors or outdoors. It was nice that there were two outdoor tables so that you could vary your view and move depending on the position of the sun.
The house is nicely decorated with pictures and pottery. We found at the nearby craft co-op a little pottery pig similar to the one at the house which we scooped up to bring home as a reminder of our stay. We are already looking forward to returning again to this little peace of Maine!
A Peace of Maine Heaven on Pemaquid Bay
We were so sorry to have to leave this beautiful place! The home was excellently equipped. We appreciated the roll-away bed, the thick fluffy towels and the charming decorations. The neighbors were friendly and helpful. We saw a bald eagle the last morning we were there.
We made many trips to the lighthouse as well as the colonial fort around the corner. We had a wonderful breakfast at the Cupboard Cafe, within walking distance. We had a fun time on the wildlife kayak tour with Maine Kayak as well. Everywhere one looks there is a photographic moment. Provisions are readily available in Damariscotta at a beautiful Hannafords grocery store (including the excellent Wicked Joes coffee) if you miss Trader Joe's in Portland. Be sure to head to Pemaquid Seafood across the bay from the house for the quintessential Maine seafood feast. We had a blast on the Puffin Boat tour out of New Harbor with Hardy Boats. We had 4 groups of guests during our stay and no one wanted to leave. We would return to Peace of Maine and hope too in the future!
Best Vacation Ever!
This house is wonderful! It's very clean and in great condition. The two upstairs bedrooms share a full bathroom and one has an amazing view out over the water. There is a den with a small tv that can accommodate one or two of the provided cots. The large family room has lots of windows overlooking the water so who needs a television? The kitchen is very well stocked with plenty of pots, pans, dishes, bowls, silverware, and cookware. Everything you need for a lobster dinner can be found there.
Somethings you might want to bring are a portable stereo, camera, and fishing gear as well as plenty of sunscreen and bug spray.
It has no dock of it's own (the ones in the pictures belong to the neighbors) but kayaks could be launched from the shore around high tide. Any other time, there are boat launches just down Huddle Road at both the public dock and by The Contended Soul.
Great bike riding abounds too! Be sure to head over to Long Cove Point Road and visit the tidal pool at the Rachel Carson Salt Flat Preserve.
Wonderful, Well Appointed Getaway!
My family of 4 (kids 4 & 1) recently returned from our early season vacation stay at "A Piece of Maine" and have nothing but glowing praise all around. The cottage is immaculately clean and beautifully furnished; it's abundantly clear that the owner's put a lot of thought and attention into every detail. Beautiful scenery from the deck area and a well manicured yard punctuated our relaxing stay. We are counting the days for another visit next year.
New Harbor / Pemaquid area attractions: 1. Pemaquid Lighthouse. Perfect spot for a picnic and clambering on the rocks. Listen to the crash of the ocean surf. Climb this historic lighthouse (chosen from among all the picturesque spots in Maine for the back of the Maine State quarter). 2. Pemaquid Beach Park. Beautiful sandy crescent beach, a unique spot in Midcoast Maine. Equipment rentals, changing rooms, bathrooms, showers, and snack bar. Come watch the silvery flecks of mica in the surf. 3.
