About the property

4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, ten acres, waterfront on Quilcene Bay, hot tub, kayak

Your own very private retreat on ten wooded acres with 500 front feet of waterfront on warm summer swimming Quilcene Bay!!! The home-cabin is also known as The Quilcene Bay Hideaway by our many regular guests. This is a one of a kind vacation rental with privacy, waterfront, breathtaking setting and view of the Olympic Mountains.

The Quilcene Bay Hideaway is an enchanting three story chalet home with beautiful pine wood walls and ceilings. Each of the three floors has it's own bedroom and bathroom making it a great place for multiple people to spread out and have their own space. The master bedroom feels like a cool tree house-it has a queen size bed. The main floor bedroom has a queen size bed. The lower level bedroom has a double bed and a set of bunk beds too. Our new fourth bedroom bunkhouse has a queen bed and a double bed. We also have a playroom with another queen size bed and a hideabed so more guests can join in the fun.

There is a large deck overlooking the pristine bay, many resident seals, wildlife, Mount Walker and National Forest land. You will feel miles away from it all in this somewhat 'untouched' area yet you are only four miles from the quaint town of Quilcene and a 30-40 minute drive to the booming area of Port Townsend.

We have no end of things to do at The Quilcene Bay Hideaway. There really is something for everyone here. We have a hot tub built into our deck. Just step in and see what it is like to take in the great outdoors and fresh air. We have trails to walk, foosball, ping pong, and even a climbing net through the trees that is just too much fun and not just for kids.

Do you love the water like our family? We rent kayaks to explore the pristine bay. Talk about getting a great view of seals, otters and wildlife. You can kayak across the bay to National Forest land and visit our families favorite cove-you can only get there by water. Our family swims in the bay during the summer months. We have a swim float dock that we swim out to and swim back for fun.

At night we take a night walk. We have a long winding driveway up to a quiet country road-my kids and I have always brought our flashlights and go for our night walk. It's been our special way to end the day at The Hideaway for years.

Our December guests get to enjoy a fully decorated cabin. It has been a 'highlight' for years. Just driving up to the white lights is pretty magical in itself. Some of our guests go to the permitted areas to cut a Christmas tree in this special area. All seasons have something to offer.

We have spent years exploring the area. For the outdoors enthusiast the area offers so many great hiking trails, mountain biking, rivers, waterfalls, beaches, mountains and more. Port Townsend, Sequim, Port Angeles, Brinnon, Port Ludlow, Poulsbo are all great day trips.

Our vacation rentals are pet friendly. We are huge animal lovers. All profits from our rentals go toward our homeless animal farm which consists of mostly horses. If you have a child who would like a horseback ride we offer riding for children at our Sequim area stable.

Hope you can come and enjoy one of our rentals soon!!

About Martha Vaughan

Martha Vaughan the owner has three children and lives in the area. Martha opened up Blakely Hill Farm animal rescue farm in 2000 and has continued with her daughter Shelby working mostly with horses that have been neglected, abused or just basically thrown out.

I opened up my vacation rental business in 2004 to help fund the animals as it was a slippery slope you might say.

After years in the insurance industry this was a choice for me.

Martha Vaughan purchased this house in 2005

Why Martha Vaughan chose Quilcene

i spent years shopping for this particular location and i do mean years. I am a swimmer. I wanted salt water that would warm up in the summer months for swimming. I also wanted the home to be private and have space to bring friends and family. i found it all at this property and more. i do believe Quilcene is one of the most beautiful places in the Northwest.

What makes this house unique

I think the setting is so special. It just looks right out at the water, forest land, wildlife and it is so private. It really is a place for 'renewal'.

Still Talking About It

  • 5 of 5

Stayed back in April 2012 and are still talking about the wonderful time we had on such a playful and relaxing estate. While it is out of our way (for us), it is certainly worth the journey.
