The private studio is cozy and comfortable in our NE Seattle home overlooking Lake Washington. Guests will have complete privacy in their room and access to their private bath. In addition the shared laundry and mini-kitchen area gives them access to a microwave, sink and fridge for light meals. I have listed the space as accommodating 3. If you are traveling with children and open to having them sleep on the floor with an airbed we can make some arrangements. I will not accept rental for more than 2 adults in the space.
The guests will have access to the private entrance of basement bedroom (step down a basement stairwell of 9 steps), shared laundry area, private bath next to the laundry area. During nice weather the guests can come up to the outdoor deck area and relax with the views of Lake Washington.
There is plenty of street parking for your car.
Interaction with Guests
We are parents of two active 9 year olds and depending on the time of arrival of the guests, we are happy to meet and greet as we live upstairs. The unit is self-catering and has a keyless entry so guests can come and go as they please during their stay.
Matthews Beach neighborhood is a super quiet and friendly neigbhorhood located in NE Seattle. We are minutes away from the largest and best hospitals like Children's Hospital and University of Washington. We are only 15 to 25 minutes away from the heart of the city as well as accessible to many local parks like Greenlake and Magnuson Parks.
We are steps away from public transit with city bus #75 on Sandpoint Way which is less than a block away. #75 goes University District and Lake City area to give you access to other major bus lines in the city.
Other Things to Note
We are a family of 4 with 9 year old twins and a pet dog - Sigmund. They are happy and busy kids. The space for rent is away from their typical daily life and they are at school during the day or out and about during the weekends. On weeknights, they retreat to their bedrooms on the 2nd floor of the house by 7:30 p.m and on weekends by about 8:30 p.m. Since the room is in the basement and we live upstairs, please expect normal family activity. We will be respectful of your privacy.
The dog is not allowed in the rental space and if outside he is in the fenced front yard which is not accessible to the rental area or entrance.
Hi! Welcome to our home. I am Archana and originally from India and I live with my husband and twins who are 9 years old. We are an active family and super involved in our local community and public school. Our kids are scouts and we are routinely out hiking, biking and on the nearby soccer fields. I love to cook a bunch, travel a ton and take too many photos of both food and landscapes. Our kids have been to far off places like the Cook Islands and we think travel is sometimes more educational than just reading text books! My husband is a busy IT professional and is an avid biker and mathlete.
While we enjoy traveling we consider Seattle the best place to live and raise our family. So come visit us and get to know our fantastic city.
Archana purchased this house in 2012
Our property is a great in-city getaway. Close to Matthews Beach Park, biking trails and nearby University and Hospitals
Private retreat with full laundry facility to use. Key-less entry to check in whenever you arrive.
Was a very nice, clean room and we enjoyed our stay. Hosts are very nice and quickly took care of an issue we had.
We arrived very late, around 2 AM, and even though the lights were on, we had a hard time 1) seeing the house number 2) figuring out where we needed to go. After walking around with our phone lights, we figured out that we had to go through a large wooden door, down an alley and then across the back yard to find the stairs leading down to the door. It wasn't horrible, but we did feel like we were trespassing!
Once in the room, it was exactly as advertised, except the door that led from the bathroom to the laundry room was sticking very badly and made a horrible noise every time we opened and shut the door. We noticed there was a door leading to what looked like an office and that the light was on but just figured it hadn't gotten shut off. Since the main door was making such a horrid noise (and we didn't want to wake up the owners) we just left the door cracked open - assuming (!) that everyone was asleep. Wrong! The man of the house pushed the door open, and with a surprised expression, asked if we were staying the night! I think communication between the owners could be improved. Maybe a sign on the door when there are guests expected?
Would we stay there again? Probably not, but the bed was comfortable, and with the doors locked it's secure (and well hidden!, the bathroom was clean and set up very nicely. There was a coffee pot, microwave and small fridge.
The space was very clean and well kept. It was perfect for two people. And Archana thought of every necessity or commodity that guests would need. Thank you for the stay!
The studio apartment was perfect and very comfortable for our 8 night stay, and the shower and bathroom were roomy with plenty of hot water. We were able to use the washer and dryer in the common area along with the fridge, coffee pot, sink, and dishes. Thank you so much for the welcome basket with coffee, creamer, sugar, and a few munchies too! Your instructions were perfect and our communications in advance for questions were answered very quickly and helped so much with our plans. Your home and location are beautiful, peaceful, and easy to find with easy street parking, and low traffic. Being close to downtown and the Northgate Mall area was a convenient plus. We even enjoyed nights with a full moon and view overlooking the lake. Thanks so much, this was exactly what we were looking for ... J & B from Montana.
This space is just as advertised. Be prepared to entertain yourself by bring your own audio visual device. The short periods spent here made me glad to have Net flicks on my phone. Seating is sparse and uncomfortable for reading or relaxing. A nice reclining chair would be a wonderful addition. Lighting is also not conducive to reading. The bed leaves something to be desired for comfort. However if you are looking for a place to crash between activity’s this is great. Clean, quiet and conveniently located to North Seattle area
