This area makes you feel like you're on an island but with all the accessibility to all the daily comforts of city life.: Hospitals, restaurants, stores, movie theaters , city Park and beach, ideal for little ones. Minutes to the Oceanside through Tavernier Creek.

Relatively large domicile, the provided kayaks were very nice, location close to amenities was excellent, great for couples looking for downtime as opposed to nightlife, Barbara's recommendations for local joints were excellent and spot-on.

Memorable Stay

My husband and I, and our two teenage boys, traveled to the Keys for the first time and had a lovely stay in this quaint home! Everything was as promised with beautiful sunset views, comfortable beds, and kitchen and bath essentials. We really enjoyed our time on the back patio watching the kids kayak (provided), barbecuing, and of course taking in the beautiful sunset views. There's a great local coffee shop and bakery for decadent morning treats and plenty of amenities nearby to make things easy: grocery stores, liquor stores, gas stations, cute shops. We loved the neighborhood, which was nice for taking walks and strolling out onto the jetty to explore sea life and coral. All and all a great location. We even took a day trip to Key West and found the drive to be beautiful!

Wondefful family getaway

The house was very clean and inviting. It was very roomy for my wife and I and our 2 boys. So nice being by the water so see those beauitiful sunsets. can't wait to come back next year as it was a great facmily home and get away

Leaves a lot to be desired. A shame because good location and nice community

Upon arrival, we met the owner. She had to retrieve her own dog from the property. She had left that dog running loose while being on the road. Based on her explanation of a pet fee, she explained it is put in place in order to treat the property after a pet has been in the house. We guess that doesn't count for her own dog. Next, she made a point to tell us that the master bed was the least comfortable in the house. Let me tell you, both the master bed and second bed were extremely worn, uncomfortable and in need of replacement. The edges of the mattress were so worn, that you roll off if you get to close. The sheets continually came off the corners while you were sleeping. They were so thin and did not have enough elastic to hold. The middle bedroom smelled horrible of mold/mildew. The house was filthy. We had to go out and buy a broom and cleaning supplies. You think that a broom would be available in a house that is completely tile floors. We had to clean the kitchen floors, refrigerator and counters. We had to clean the toilets, tubs/shower and bathroom sinks. We had to sweep every floor coming up with piles of sand/dirt in each room. It is obvious this was not done before we arrived. We experienced ants all week in the kitchen and family room. We went out and purchased ant traps. But the ants were imbedded in the walls, so they were virtually ineffective. Not to mention the roaches and mouse in the kitchen! There was a wasp nest in the porch area and a bees nest on the side of the house. I told her I was highly allergic to bees and did she have any spray. She didn't have any but didn't offer to take care of it either. So we had to. The kitchen is not properly stocked. We went out and purchased pots, pans, toaster, paper plates, plastic cups and utensils for our use during the week. There was a few pots and pans and a toaster but they were so gross (and had dead roaches in them) we wouldn't use them. Minimal plates, bowls and cups. The utensils that were there were rusted. The listing stated that there was a washer/dryer available. However, the washer/dryer was located outside and not covered in any way. We brought less clothes than necessary for a week with the plans to do wash during the week. The washer was half filled with rain water and there was a very active bees nest directly above this unit. This washer/dryer unit was dangerous and unacceptable. Minimal outside furniture and that too was dirty. I could go on and on.

Owner's Response: I am proud to say that I am the manager and owner of the property. First and foremost ; before KEYS are given to the renters , I do a thorough walk-thru with the renters to make sure that it is not only to my satisfaction but most of all to THEIRS. I was appalled to read such a review. The walk-thru went quite smoothly and got great compliments from the renters along the way. If the home was unacceptable when the walk-thru was done it would have been addressed.. That is the main reason for the personalized walk-thru with the tenants., It is simple logic; no need to say more. As far as the pet fee;I am the owner and not the tenants. The pet fee is just what it stands for; (like when you go to a resort and they charge you extra person fee or pet fee) it is to the establishment's discretion. The house is fully equipped with pots, pans, plates and utensils. Many of the kitchen ware are still in original cartons since I buy them often. I do not supply plastic kitchenware and I have never stated such: Washer/Dryer are included in the property. It is common for laundry washer and dryer to be stationed outside of the house in the Florida Keys. The Washer and Dryer were fully installed by a professional Electrician using all the proper electrical supplies needed to run the washer/dryer outside safely. As far as critters roaming the house. The house gets fumigated periodically by a professional. There was a bee hive starting to form on the outside, side of the house but not in such close proximity to where it would hinder anyone. I did show her and she did not think it was a big deal since it was on the side of the property and only a few bees were hanging around. Hence. the bee situation was been taken care of. As far as tiny ants, I saw non while I was there and my previous renters never stated anything to me. However, I must acknowledge that when it rains a lot and it did during their stay there. (Neighbors told me) crittiers such as tiny ants will be seen sporadically. However, none were seen during walk-thru. As far as the beds I've never had any complains. I have a very nice pillow-top mattress in one room and the other one has a mattress cover with a memory foam insert. This was a family of 6 adults so I don't really know their sleeping arrangements. Lastly, I make it a point to have open communications at all time while having renters and a Handyman on standby for any situations that may arise. never did I receive a call from them,

The best family vacation in a long time the beautiful view from the dock watching the sunset with the hubby enjoying a great dinner on the dock as the kids played and splashed in the canal and to awake to some of the most beautiful fish next to the floating dock out back very spacious house and kids had the time of their lives so happy to enjoy this week we spent at this house
