1 bedroom, full bath, queen bed, dining room w/table, kitchenette, full size frig., induction cook top, microwave, coffee grinder and maker for brewing the famous kona coffee, wifi, cable tv, off street parking, coin operated laundry, gazebo with bbq. It is between Kahalu'u Beach (snorkel beach) and Magic Sands beach, both are within walking distance if you want to relax on the local beaches. There are 2 transit systems running on Alii drive making them very accessible. Fall asleep at night to the sound of the waves crashing the coast. Also just a 2 minute drive to Keauhou Shopping Center which has grocery store, drug store, post office, restaurants, movie theater, farmers market on Saturday mornings and more. A 5 minute drive to the other direction is ocean front downtown Kona. It also has shopping, restaurants and historical sites. You can come just to relax or be as active as you want. The island has all the water sports available from swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, kayaking, and big game fishing. There are many sites to see by tour vans or go explore on your own. You have the observatory on Mauna Kea, Place of Refuge, tours of the coffee farms, macadamia nut farms, volcano, lava tubes, lava flows, waterfalls, historical sites of where the kings and ancient Hawaiians lived and much more. The island also has some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Watch for the green flash as the sun goes over the horizon in the evening.

My wife and I grew up on the coast of southern California where the ocean was a big part of our lives. We decided to make a move to the Big Island to enjoy the great year round weather, warm water, healthier and slower lifestyle.

We bought this property because it was beautiful, in the same wonderful neighborhood we were living in and close to the most popular beaches in Kona. The owner had taken such good care, it was designed to take in guests and we saw it as a opportunity to continue making it a place that can be enjoyed by visitors wanting to experience the Kona lifestyle, something we get to live everyday.

What makes this studio unique

It is so close to the ocean, you can hear the waves crashing on the lava rock at night. You can walk down to the beach to watch the sunsets.

Very good value, tidy, and near two great beaches

I stayed here by myself, April 20 through the 26th. It was more than adequate for me, with all the necessary items to prepare meals and to relax after long days in the ocean. It is near Magic Sands (La'aloa) Beach, where you can body board the shore break all day long, or take a break and watch others get tossed around in it. There's a small cove right before you get to it that is great for snorkeling. Or, you can walk the other way on Ali'i Drive and go to Kahaluu Beach Park for some snorkeling. This condo is also a great spot from which to launch an expedition to the southern part of the island, which holds many marvels.

There is enough here to cook a meal. No stove, but an induction hot plate, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, and refrigerator were adequate for my needs. About a mile south there is a grocery store. Some of the cabinetry is a bit worn looking, but clean and adequate to the task. Lots of storage if you decide to bring a large wardrobe. Bathroom is small, but has everything a person needs. The bed was comfortable for my exhausted body at night. There is a nice little parking lot in the back for you, and some very personable chickens( no roosters!).

If you want the hubbub of Kailua, which can be quite fun, you'll probably want to drive, but if you want to be in a less busy local neighborhood this will suit you.

I would not use the word quiet to describe this place. Ali'i Drive is very present in the aural atmosphere. There are no actual windows, just screens and louvers, which makes for a tropical, cool atmosphere in April, but there is a bit of traffic on Ali'i. It didn't bug me very much, but some people probably wouldn't be able to abide. The building itself is not insulated for sound, so the upstairs neighbors were apparent, but not overly boisterous. Again, it didn't bother me, but if you're used to very quiet places, this may not be for you, or bring earplugs.

David is a good guy, who takes good care of the property, and I imagine would be on the spot were anything to go wrong, which it didn't for my stay.

Personally, I feel this place is what I expected. I have rented various condos on all the islands in this price range, and this one ranks among the best. It was clean, well enough appointed, and in a convenient place for a beach bum such as myself. But if you're used to deluxe accommodations , don't expect it here. It's a very good value in this price range though.

Lots to offer in a great location

David was very welcoming - with some lovely fresh eggs, use of snorekelling gear and a clean, well thought out property with offstreet parking and just the righ l;evel of facilities. We could self cater - but were also close enough to amenties so we could eat out too. Definitely recommend.

A Perfect Place to Stay

The location of this place was perfect. It is just off Ali'i Drive. All the shops are down the road. Within walking distance of a beach and short drive to another. The place was clean and cute with a kitchen with cooking facilities and dining set. The other room was just perfect for two. No air conditioning, but not needed. The ocean breeze kept it very comfortable with ceiling fans. Parking available. Very peaceful. The birds do wake you up in the morning.

Convenient beach adjacent stay

David's vrbo was a comfortable place to stay while visiting the Big Island. the apartment is conveniently located near beaches, shopping and the airport. David was very welcoming and would recommend for anyone looking for a place in Kona.

Clean, spacious and comfortable, great value

Dave is a great host, he's always around tending to things and his quiet chicken flock (no roosters). The unit is all one could ask for, a good location and memorable find for the value in Kailua. The only possible criticism, and it's a nit, is the traffic noise on Ali'i road, but hardly a deal breaker considering the experience of staying in a real Hawaiian neighborhood.
