River front! Home has 4 parking spaces
Thanks to the owners of the Waterfront Home on the James River for a wonderful few days on the river. The location is really great, right on the James River and so much to do in the area. The home was very comfortable for us and our two dogs. We enjoyed our stay!
We had an amazing time at The River House. Looking forward to our next vacation here. The house was very clean and perfect for two couples. Thanks again!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend in October 2016. The house was very cozy, comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well stocked although we weren't able to find a toaster. We brought our kayaks and spent the majority of our time on the river. There were two large canoes that we could've used with a variety of other river toys that would be perfect in the summer (not so much for our fall getaway). That part of the river is relatively calm and we had no issues getting around and fishing. My boyfriend ended up catching quite a few small mouth bass. The area is rather quiet with little traffic which is exactly what we were looking for. We spent one morning driving along the blue ridge parkway and found a nice trail to walk for a little extra adventure. Highly recommend stopping along the parkway and getting a glimpse of the views. All in all we had a great trip and I would definitely recommend this house.
Overall a great weekend,
The weather cleared up and made for a better stay!
The property was easily located in this quaint little town. The river and mountains are
something to see! We especially enjoyed going to the Peaks of Otter a few miles down the road
Breathtaking views of the mountains and the surrounding areas! Enjoyed going canoeing and the swing bridge too!
Our host Lance was easy and friendly to talk too. Thanks for providing us with fire wood for the pit, it was nice to sit around at night and enjoyed the starry night sky. The home was clean and ready for us when we arrived. My only complaint is that we didn't have much as for cookware and serving bowls, I do understand that these items get easily abused by guests but a simple upgrade would be nice for people that like to cook.
We made due with what was provided and didn't let this take away from our stay.. I still made some great dishes to eat for my family and friends to enjoy! We totally recommend this place and would come again.
Thanks for having us.
This property gets 2 thumbs up on location. We absolutely loved the view down at the river. Everything was clean and the owners are easy to work with and very accommodating. The dart board was a bonus for the kids as well as the horse shoes in the yard.
The boys fished with dad for hours and we all enjoyed tubing and rafting just out front of the house and also through an outfit less than 15 minutes away, where there were perfect size rapids and flow. I'd definitely return to this area.
My family and I had great time at the property! The home was comfortable, clean and very convenient to the James River Water Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway and the local towns. I already miss sitting on the porch and watching the James flow by!!!
Home is on the James River .5 miles upstream from springwood bridge. This area is extremely popular for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, floating, relaxing. The home is on the upper James River water trail- 45 miles of pristine river that allow anglers, paddlers, and family to get back to nature. For video of the area google : upper James River water trail, many of the pictures and videos were taken in front of our home.
