About Gini Smith
My mother bought this chalet in the early 90's and it has been a favorite spot for family getaways. It is now being passed down to me and my family. We also have several rental properties in Florida where we we owned and operated a family resort for over 50 years. Making memorable vacations for families is what we do.

This area was just too beautiful to pass up. We have many friends in the area. Murphy is full of Florida folks getting away for some mountain air.

We had a great time at the cabin. It was very clean! Wifi was great, and we enjoyed the fire pit! Views of the mountains in the distance were beautiful and the sunsets made it even better! The host had great communication and was very accommodating for our family escaping from the hurricane. Thanks so much !
Amazing is an understatement!
We will be back very soon. I cannot express enough how much fun we had. This is the perfect location . Beautiful views . I can't stress enough how happy I was there! The house is clean and well taken care of . Very private !! You must rent this!! Words cannot describe the views from inside and outside the house . The pictures are nothing compared to what the house really looks like! I want to go back!! 💗💗💗
If you are looking for a private getaway with amazing views of the mountains, this cabin is for you. In the mornings wake up to see the "smoke" rising from the mountains and in the evenings relax on the deck while enjoying the sunset. There is a view of the mountains for almost every room!!! The owner was very responsive to any questions from booking to throughout the stay. The location is great for outdoor enthusiasts, so many activities to choose from: motorcycling, hiking, kayaking, rafting, mountain biking etc. The only slight negative was the water pressure in the master bath; I recommend using the downstairs bath for showers. This did not take away from our stay though we had a wonderful weekend. We will definitely be back!!
Hi Thank you for your review.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The deck is my favorite place to relax and the view & sunsets are amazing, so are the stars at night. You are right there is so much to do in the area! Thank you for letting me know about the shower upstairs, I will have my maintenance man look into it.
We would love to have you back as guests.
Perfect cabin for a wonderful getaway with the family
Enjoyed a few days with our family at this cozy little cabin. Despite the rainy and overcast weather conditions, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The owner was very responsive prior to our trip - quick to respond to any questions we had. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and had all of the necessary accommodations to make our stay pleasant. The view from the cabin was breathtaking! We definitely consider this place a favorite!
Beautiful views comfortable inside loved the rocking chairs on the patio
Clean and well maintained. Upstairs tv was not connected, but we used the main tv while there
Murphy NC Hummingbird House
We enjoyed our stay at the Hummingbird House. The house and the views were very nice, better than advertised. We had everything we needed for our stay. The bed we used in the loft was very comfortable. It is a lovely area and very quiet. We visited The Fields of the Wood and several other areas while we were there. We enjoyed the scenery. There were several things that we did not like, but they did not spoil our overall experience. The living room furniture was not comfortable to us, one wooden rocking chair and a couch that was very hard to sit on without the cushions sliding out. Both of the shower heads were the hand held type and had adjustable holders which we could not keep at the angle we preferred. They both pointed straight down and were hard to use unless you like the water falling on the top of your head. We never did really figure out the lighting wiring, although we managed to get the lights on that we wanted. There seemed to be several different switches controlling the same thing. We also wanted to use the fireplace to get the chill out of the house, but could not get it to work. The instructions sounded simple, but I could not do it. There was an instruction page provided, but did not exactly match the setup. There was an off and on switch in the instructions that I never found. Again, these were inconveniences that were a little irritating but did not spoil our stay.
