While staying at the mountain home, sun yourself on the big rock or 'rock hop' in the river. Float down the rapids to the big bridge. Maybe you like to fish? Fish just off the driveway in the Rocky Broad River. Or maybe you need some quiet time, just you, your loved one, sitting on the porch or on the big rock soaking your feet in the refreshing river. Sit and listen! What do you hear?

We enjoyed the serenity here., the calm and peaceful setting. Porch was wonderful, sitting and looking at the river, even while it raged after storms. Great amenities (big kitchen), individual room temperature controls, several tv's. We opted to park across the road due to heavy rains - glad to have that option - driveway a bit tricky. Thank you for sharing your home with our "pack" - human and canine.
This was a decent place to stay. The kids loved being able to play out by the creek which was right outside the door. The major drawback.....dust. If you have allergies to dust, you might have problems. There is quite a bit of dust as well as cobwebs and the basement is very musty (maybe because it was cold?). There are lots of ladybugs that have taken up living inside but the kids liked seeing them. The driveway was steep and if you stop while ascending you might have problems getting out onto the road (but this was mentioned).
The location of the cabin is really good. The town of Black Mountain is very quaint and we loved playing tourists. If you like hiking, go to Chimney Rock. It's a great hike. The town of Chimney Rock also has a couple of really good cafes. Asheville is about 30 minutes away and was nice but we liked the town of Black Mountain better.
The cabin is very nice, well worth the challenge of unloading all our baggage/gear. From the Driveway, the front door is a real challenge, and going through the basement obviously involves steps. We had several instruments, Christmas packages, over packed outdoor gear, food for Christmas Week-end. Not a big deal, we'll just prep a little better next time. Location is perfect, river is beautiful and very accessible, almost NO traffic in front of the house so walks were very pleasant. Just the right distance from Black Mountain, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock. WiFi worked good, no cell service was an unexpected GIFT! We will DEFINATELY return for a summertime stay.
We enjoyed our stay. Family from Asheville came over and visited. We had dinner and a early Christmas. House was perfect for getting together with everyone.
Absolutely wonderful get away. The cabin was perfect for our family vacation.
Lovely cabin right on a small river. The cabin has everything you need for a nice weekend and it is very family friendly.
The kitchen is fully stocked and the living room is cozy. The beds are comfortable and bathrooms are clean and updated.
