'Wright's Cabin' offers a "one of a kind" Asheville Vacation in a serene, private setting. The cabin was hand-built by Mr. Newton Wright & wife, Lissie in the late 1800's, using trees from the surrounding forest. Their efforts produced this Very charming home, (and property) which was completely Restored in 2010.
Husband, wife & 9 children worked their small farm from this 1 bedroom log home. Out-buildings & barns, (from the farm) remain intact & preserved . (Some buildings are not accessible but provide fantastic photos).
The cabin has been featured in local magazines,
national wedding publications, The Fairview Town Crier & The Asheville Citizen Times,
(chosen as Asheville's 'home of the week' July, 2012).
The Cabin features 1 bedroom (downstairs) with queen bed and a 2nd floor loft with 2 double beds.
*NOTE...Loft is up a rustic wood staircase, totally private, but not enclosed with a door. (Loft is the whole 2nd floor). (See photos of loft and living room for clarification).
Antique chandeliers, reclaimed White Pine floors & vintage furnishings provide authenticity... Top of the line double- pane, thermal windows, new kitchen, central a/c, and high speed internet make it comfortably-modern year around.
Absolutely perfect 'romantic retreat' for a couple, a family, or a small group of friends. This cabin sleeps 2-6. Very easy drive to all area attractions... 11 miles (15 minutes) to Asheville & Biltmore House, 15 miles (25 minutes) to Lake Lure & Chimney Rock,
17 miles (25 minutes) to Black Mountain.
Relax on the leather sofa in front of a wood stove fireplace as you enjoy the ambience of this hand- hewn, (solid white oak), log home. Wright's Cabin features a cozy country kitchen & modernized bathroom. The kitchen features granite counter tops & 1940's era crystal chandeliers. Dining nook was hand-made from 1850's Tennessee church pews.
Outside, (WATCH VIDEO), take a stroll along 800+ feet of Trantham Creek, ( The creek can be heard from the entire property). Walk in the adjoining 3 acre field to enjoy a mountain view, or hike the additional 4.5 acre slopes behind the cabin, (our property extends all the way to the next street above). At night, gaze at the stars from the field or toast marshmallows on the outdoor fireplace. There are a few antique out-buildings, including a wagon barn that has been converted into a creek-side entertainment pavilion. There is a historic double crib barn featuring full dove- tail cornering. This bldg provides GREAT photo-ops, (please do not explore it's interior).
A very special, romantic setting. Close to everything...

We had a great stay at this cabin! Lots of space outside for kids to play, and very cozy & authentic inside. Will definitely stay here again!
Fun weekend getaway
Completely enjoyed our long weekend in this beautiful cabin and property. Loved the history. Well stocked. Owner easy to work with. The caretaker, Roger, is a jewel - he dropped by after we got settled to see if we needed anything. We felt truly welcomed and cared for during our stay. Kids had a blast running around, swinging, playing hide and seek, having an Easter egg hunt, playing kickball and wiffleball. Lots to love about this place. Would return in a heartbeat.
Great cabin and property! Thanks, Eric.
My family of five enjoyed our stay very much. Such a cozy cabin and nice property. My children played soccer in the field and splashed around in the creek. Location is convenient to Asheville and plenty around to see and do.
A beautiful and cozy historic cabin
We fell in love with this house as soon as we drove up. The owners have kept the decor to its original as closely as possible. Kids loved having the upstairs sleeping loft all to themselves. The property itself was wonderful, with a little creek, a rope swing for our child and lots of room to run about. The beds a very comfy. We were really sad to leave!
Best Family Christmas Vacation!!!
My family had the pleasure of staying in this 120 year old cabin during Christmas and it could not have been a more wonderful experience! Thanksgiving morning my husband and I decided we wanted to take a Christmas vacation. I emailed the owner and he responded immediately, something I was not expecting considering it was Thanksgiving. The pictures look amazing, but the cabin and property are even that much more spectacular in person. Upon arrival my children (two boys 9 & 12) were delighted to see the outside Christmas lights and all the Christmas decorations inside including a poinsettia, stockings hanging from the fireplace and a full sized decorated tree. My youngest who still believes in Santa gleefully said "oh yeah now Santa has somewhere to leave our presents on Christmas morning!" Roger the property caretaker could not have been nicer. He checked in on us and made sure we always had plenty of firewood. He offered helpful suggestions for some hiking and was just a very sweet fella. We bought muck boots for my boys & they spent hours exploring the creek that runs across the front of the property. We took a ton of family pictures because the cabin & property makes the perfect backdrop (we used the pictures for our New Years greeting cards). While you feel very secluded on the property, you are close to everything. 5 mins to grocery stores, gas stations & local restaurants in Fairview, 10 mins to the Biltmore (which was beautiful to visit on Christmas Day), 15 mins to downtown Asheville (tons of restaurants, stores & bars). While in DT Asheville we visited the Pinball Museum. I was surprised at how much fun my husband and I had (just as much if not more than our boys!). A must do! We stocked up on groceries at the Food Lion & visited a few local markets. We ate twice at The Local Joint which had amazing diner-style food. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed including a small washer & dryer, fully equipped kitchen and even a few DVDs which my boys enjoyed. The wood burning stove was the best! We made a fire in it every single evening. Outside there is a stone chimney where we made s'mores for dessert after dinner. We explored some hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway and hiked Chimney Rock (amazing views). The hiking was great, but just sitting on the porch swing listening to the rushing creek & sitting by the fire in the evening were my favorite things to do. We were sad to have to leave this beautiful property!!! We will be back!
Great cabin and peaceful property close to anything you want. Was not happy to leave but plan to return as soon as possible.
Ideally located!! Only10.5 miles (15 minutes) to Downtown Asheville, 15 miles (25 minutes) to Lake lure & Chimney Rock, 17 miles (25 minutes) to Black Mountain, 4 miles (10 minutes) to Blue Ridge Parkway, 2 miles (5 minutes) to groceries, restaurants.
