About Lori and Ben Byers
Ben and Lori are natives of the area and know the area well. We love our beautiful "neck of the woods." Ben holds a B.S. in Environmental Science and has worked to save and restore log cabins and Lori has an M.Ed. in English Education, with a background in both teaching and tutoring, creative writing, and IT design. We are animal and nature lovers and look forward to sharing our home with you.
Lori and Ben Byers purchased this House in 2007
Why Lori and Ben Byers chose Green Hill
Lori's family owned land in this community for 100 years, the property is Lori's childhood home. When her great grandparents found the ancestral home place adjacent on Thompson, they came in a horse and buggy along a primitive dirt road. Our home was passed down through the generations and we are surrounded by family and friends' homes and land.
What makes this House unique
The home is located close to town (but not in town) and our area is a hub to jump off to horse events at the Tryon Equestrian Center, the beauty of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, home of Dirty Dancing and Last of the Mohicans films. There are also local sporting events such as high school baseball and football. The Owls Forest City baseball games are just a few miles away. Natural beauty surrounds the area, including Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, South Mountains, Tryon, Marion, and more. Hiking and biking on the Rails to Trails is less than a mile away. The home also features beautiful sunsets over the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Country feel but close to services. Spacious, relaxing, clean. Accessible and gracious hosts.
Comfortable beds, large kitchen with big dining table, relaxing living room. Lots of books and games. Huge shady yard. This was our second time and we will return.
Peaceful. Serene. Restorative. This high quality vacation paradise is loaded with amenities, ambiance and coziness. With a breathtaking view of the Smokey Mountains out back and natural foliage and landscaping, there is truly something here for everyone.
It is fully appointed with all the needs of home, including a WONDERFUL Jen Aire cook top, gas fireplace and enough dishes to host Easter Dinner for the family! The back patio area offers lots of spots for the Easter Bunny to hide his treasures, as well as being a blessed space to sip some Sweet Tea and enjoy the view.
Our grandkids enjoyed the fully stocked game cabinet, playing well know games and learning new ones. There is plenty of shopping close by and lots to do within close distances. We particularly enjoyed our day in Lake Lure / Chimney Rock, where our oldest grandson had a blast mining for gems and fossils. If you are a collector of things, your love will be fulfilled simply by all the cool stuff inside this wonderful old home.
We truly hope you will enjoy it as much as we did and recommend it to family, friends and weary traveler alike.
Thank you Lori and Ben for such a blessed vacation.
Warmest Regards to All-

Immaculate, warm and inviting. Amazing view!!
I would give Golden Hill more stars if I could! The house is so inviting and comfortable. It is stocked with all you need and more! It’s pet and children friendly in every sense of the word.
I would recommend staying here to anyone...and the view from the back yard cannot be beat!
Thanks again for such a wonderful place to call home while we transitioned down here!
We have been renting vacation properties for years but Gold Hill stands out above the rest. From my first contact with Lori I felt like I was talking to a friend. We stayed during a cold snap and we arrived after a long day of driving to a warm welcoming home. With every night of our stay below freezing we really enjoyed the fireplace! Lori and Ben have really thought of everything to make a stay at Gold Hill cozy and enjoyable and being able to bring our fur baby is the best! I'm already planning my next trip back.
Lori is such a wonderful and gracious hostess - very responsive and welcoming. The home is so charming and was a perfect homebase to return to during our visit. Very clean, well-appointed and pet-friendly. Would definitely return.
Nicole, thank you and come back soon! You guys are welcome anytime and we truly appreciate how beautifully you kept the house! Happy new year!
