About Cathy Cox-Brakefield
We just celebrated our twenty-fifth anniversary, having moved to Blue Ridge, my hometown, in 2001, after spending most of our prior adult years in the Atlanta area. We lived in our first vacation cabin for two years and then moved into our new home on my family's farm just outside town. We have two grown sons who live in the Atlanta and Athens area. On the farm our babies are our two dogs, three cats, and three "fainting' goats. By the end of 2015, we will both be retired from long legal careers and focus our efforts on our three vacation rental properties.
Cathy Cox-Brakefield purchased this Bungalow in 2015
Why Cathy Cox-Brakefield chose Blue Ridge
This house was previously owned by a family friend. I went with a colleague who was house hunting to look at it. She decided that it wasn't for her, but I fell in love. The house is charming and in one of Blue Ridge's original in town neighborhoods, just steps from the excitement of downtown. Having hosted visitors for over two years at Cox Farmnhouse, I have a vision that couples and young families will love the option of.staying in the very convenient location within minutes of walking to shops, parks, restaurants, the library, and art galleries. The Swan, one of Georgia's last and longest operating drive-in theaters, is only a few blocks away.
What makes this Bungalow unique
With its original hardwood floor in the main living room, and charming cottage feel, this gem will be the perfect vacation spot for two couples or a family with up to three children. The living room is light and airy with a large adjoining deck for grilling and outdoor seating. The great room provides space for guests to cook, dine, and watch tv or relax while being in the same space. The lovely tiled sunroom just off the great room provides additional seating and dining space. Full laundry facilities with a large laundry sink and an extra toilet in the basement provide extra convenience.

We were in Blue Ridge over the weekend for our son’s wedding and some of the older adults stayed in this cozy and well-stocked house. Appreciated the abundance of towels and esp. washer and dryer, which were easy to operate. Nice quiet neighborhood just a short walking distance to downtown and since I love to hike I especially enjoyed the uphill climb on Depot St. Hope to return again soon!
Thank you. We think that uphill climb after dinner is the perfect way to prepare for sweet dreams. Look forward to having you back downtown with us soon.
Definitely will stay here again
Great location in a quite area and walking distance to shopping and restaurants.
Thank you so much for the nice review. Also thank you for being such considerate guests. Cleaning was a snap after your departure. We hope to have you back again soon.
Very convenient home to downtown Blue Ridge
Very convenient to downtown. I especially enjoyed the sound of the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway announcing its daily departure. Home is large and if you have a large group staying it would give you multiple places in the house to congregate without being on top of one another. About 2 blocks to downtown, but take note it is up and down a hill. Home has everything you need but I did bring my own Keurig Coffeemaker because I am spoiled and only like a certain flavor coffee. The bed, in the bedroom I used (blue room) was very comfortable. The owner, Cathy was very attentive and responded to all questions.
We just can’t figure out any way to make that two blocks downhill both ways! Ha! At least you walk off dinner uphill on the way back. Seriously, thank you for the nice review. Our place is deceivingly large but we can only accommodate 5 guests although those with family in area have hosted family gatherings here. Come back soon!
Great location and pet friendly
Very good location for us. Had everything we would need in the rental. The outside fenced yard work out well for our dogs. It was spacious, yet cozy. Very good hostess!
Thank you! It is a great location for in town activities, isn’t it? Hope you and your babies can visit again soon.
We had a blast
The location was perfect. We were able to walk to downtown and felt very safe. The house was nice and quite. The beds slept great. I would stay here again.
Charming, cozy and only couple minutes walk to restaurants and shops
House sits on a hill. Has a great sunroom overlooking tree canopies and mountains, perfect for reading and relaxing while listening to church bells, birds and crickets. The house is two blocks from Main street. Everything worked well (washer, drier, TV, hot water, etc). Very relaxing place to spend a week. I really enjoyed it, so did my wife and 2 years old son.
Thank you for your nice review. We are pleased that your family enjoyed our cozy downtown property.
Blue Ridge has a vibrant downtown with shops, bars, and restaurants, yet outdoor adventure abounds on Lake Blue Ridge, the Toccoa/Ocoee river, in the Chattahoochee National Forest (Appalachian Trail, Cohitta Wilderness Area, Rich Mountain Wildlife Management Area, and numerous waterfalls. Come enjoy one of the most ancient ecosystems on earth.
