Perfect weekend condo
This condo was perfect for what we needed! It was clean, comfortable and the location was perfect. It had everything we needed, and we were very happy with the condo and the rec center. The outdoor hot tub is perfect to top of a day of skiing. I will say, we had 5 people and I could see it being really tight with 10 for a longer period of time.
Thanks for having us! We'll be back.
Served its purpose - needs work.
This condo has three good things going for it - close to the bus stop and rec center, and the double bunks in one of the bedrooms. Beyond that it is very small and needs some work. The TV worked but we couldn't get any channels, the fridge ran all the time even on the lowest setting. It froze our fruits and vegetables ruining them. The towel bars in the "master" bathroom were either off or fell off during our stay.
The pots and pans are Teflon and all scratched which is not the safest for cooking. The pots, pans and dishes are a hodge podge of different types and some of the lids didn't fit the pots. The pans we did use had to be washed as they were all greasy from previous renters. So, we only used a couple of pans since we didn't feel like washing everything. The dishwasher is small and barely fits 5 dinners plates and glasses.
The fitted sheet did not fit the queen bed in the master bedroom and kept coming off during the night. When we stripped the beds as instructed for check out we discovered the sheet's elastic was worn out and non-existent.
If you want to know anything about Winter Park you are on your own. You will have to figure out which Lift line you are on (free shuttle) and the schedule. There is no information about local restaurants, shops or attractions. Most condos we have stayed in have a binder full of information specific to the condo and the local area. There are magazines available for free at many local places including the Visitors Center.
Prior to check out I did email Amy to let her know about the TV, refrigerator and towel rods. She replied that the towels rods continue to be a problem and the TV needs to be on certain settings and "I probably need to include some instructions for future guests". She said she placed a thermometer in the refrigerator for the next guests.
For our needs, we would look to stay somewhere else for future visits to Winter Park.
Perfect for what we needed
Great location, clean, plenty of sleeping space for larger groups
Nice weekend stay
First off - to comment on another visitor's petty review - Hi Country Haus condos were originally built in the 70s. Many owners have chosen to remodel and this unit was nicely done. To complain that the dishes/stemware/glassware were not from the same set is beyond ridiculous, IMO. The dishes are of better quality and released a microwaved egg without the use of butter (they are thick ceramic). My dishes at home fail at that. I sort of looked for the nit-picky items where photos were posted but maybe the unit had been refreshed since that visitor's review; as I couldn't find the issues.
My kids use a TON of toilet paper when we travel and I had forgotten to bring extra. The unit was well stocked and there was plenty of tp when we left.
We have stayed in another Hi Country Haus condo much further from the rec center and being right next door was convenient.
I like the more open feel of the kitchen/living room area of this unit. There was a regular coffee pot and a keurig.
The master bedroom has a queen sized bed with an attached small bathroom - toilet/sink/shower. A second bedroom has a queen bed. The third bedroom has a double over double bunk bed and a single over single bunk bed. The mattresses were comfortable but had plastic mattress protectors, which made the sheets slide off. Not a huge big deal.
This unit is an end unit, on the second floor of a three floor building. The people around us were very quiet; which I think was a first for any ski trip I've been on. It was hard to tell that someone was staying above us.
This unit is close to a few restaurants/bars and a new market/deli; on the Fraser end of WP.
The cleaning crew did a great job.
There was no secured internet for this unit but the rec center has internet, right next door. There was an unsecured hotspot but I needed to work and used my phone to gain secured internet.
Great stay and pet friendly.
Thank you for your response! We try to hit a home run with every guest but that is not always the case. We do take the feedback and try to improve as much as possible. I'll take a look at new linens as it seems that this may be needed and we did add Wifi this season, sorry it was too late for your stay.
Adequate lodging in Winter Park
We stayed in February 2018, and the condo was clean and in good condition.
There are beds to sleep several people, but overall the condo is fairly small. Not a lot of space at the dining table.
Wifi is not included, and there is no place to store skis/gear.
Did not get over to the clubhouse to see the pool/hottub.
You are correct, the condo is not a large condo. It can sleep up to 10 people if necessary but it definitely would be tight if it were 10 adults. It can easily sleep 4 adults in the two queen rooms and up to 6 kids in the bunk room. The dining table can be turned from the wall to sit 6 and 4 dinner trays are offered to accommodate more guests. We have added Wifi this season and will look into adding ski locks outside the condo for next season. We appreciate your feedback and always strive to make things better for our guests.
The location of this VRBO was wonderful and we enjoyed access to the Rec Center. The kitchen was nicely stocked with dishware and paper products. The lodging itself, however was not very clean. There was dog hair on the couch and couch blanket. The decorative pillow in the bedroom was soiled, and my four year old son got a glass sliver in his heel from the living room rug. This lodging is on the second story and the staircase is very steep with narrow steps. The next time we visit Winter Park we will stay elsewhere.
I am so sorry that the condo was not clean and up to par for your stay. That is obviously not acceptable. We will address the issue and make sure that this is not a problem in the future.
