About Meg Hubbard
I was born and raised in Benzie County. My husband and I had an adult foster care home -Frankfort Senior Care Home- with 12 elderly clients living with us. I took care of people for nearly 25 years. We currently own Bayshore Tire and Auto in Elberta. We don't get much free time but we spend all the free time we can get on Crystal Lake.
Meg Hubbard purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Meg Hubbard chose Beulah
This cottage is our happy place. I love how easy it is to get to everywhere we want to go. All the attractions are close by and easy to get to. We waited our entire lives to find this home on Crystal Lake. It was built by a student of Francis Lloyd Wright and you can see it in his attention to detail and love he put into this house. When I walk into this cottage my troubles just seem to melt away from my shoulders. I can breathe easier and even sleep better. I wake up in the mornings and have my coffee on the peaceful balcony and watch the quiet, calm lake and just breathe. I make a pitcher of iced tea and take it out to the beach along with my favorite book and read until the sun tells me it's time to jump in the lake or float on my float tubes. I usually end up in the kayak or on a paddle board watching the sandy bottom go by and counting fish. When we start to get hungry we bbq on the grill. In the evening we light a fire in the fire pit and make smores as we watch the sun set. Then we search for constellations and count shooting stars. Our beach is pretty private so I usually end up sneaking back into the lake for a midnight swim to cool down. Then we go sit in the balcony for a late night glass of wine. We go to bed and get lulled to sleep by the lapping of the lake on the shore line.
What makes this Cottage unique
When I stepped into the living room and saw the wall of glass overlooking the lake I knew this was our home. It has the wood functionality my husband wanted and the views of the lake and private beach I needed. I just have to take a deep breath of relief each time I get to stay here. I love the whimsy of the spiral stair case and the glow in the dark star stickers on the ceiling as i fall asleep. I love going to sleep to the sound of the gentle sound of the water reaching for the shore. My stress melts away there. The cottage has a washer and dryer so i don't have to lug our clothes around. I can see the lake while i do dishes - making even the chores easier. The basement has two large doors that open up under the veranda so even on a a rainy day you still get to enjoy the outside and we love to watch the storms come in. There is plenty of outdoor seating and an awning to protect you from the sun and help you keep cool. There is even a place to hang your wet towels at the beach.
