About Bruce Tapper
Dr. Bruce Tapper is a Clinical Psychologist who has lived on the property since 1995. He lives and practices in a separate office building on the same property. After growing up and graduating from college in New York, he lived in Southern California for 25 years until moving to Port Townsend. He currently lives with four little Maltese dogs and a friendly tuxedo cat, plays golf at the local course only a half mile away, and never misses the Port Townsend Jazz Festival every July.

Why Bruce Tapper chose Port Townsend

Tranquil and well appointed
A well appointed, tranquil view home. The family was comfortable and had a real nice time.
Spacious home with a view
Our family really enjoyed the spaciousness of the house.
We loved playing games in the living area and found ourselves staying up later than usual. The wood burning fire was a plus on cooler evenings as well. All the nice touches including fresh flowers, candy dishes, smores fixings and coffee were really thoughtful.
The view was spectacular. We hope to return.
Best vacation home ever!
We travel a lot and have stayed at many vacation homes. This is no doubt the best one. Perfect view, well stocked kitchen and plenty of other supplies that you might need during your stay here. Everyone loved the house including our dog. We will definitely return hopefully every year. Thank you Bruce for providing us with such a nice place for family time.
A private luxury retreat
This was our 2nd stay at HODL, and it did not disappoint. Dr. Tapper is a most gracious host, constantly making improvements to the already-amazing property and amenities. We enjoyed the stunning views, the luxurious furnishings, the fresh-cut lilies and roses, and the generously stocked, well-appointed kitchen and appliances. We even picked delicious peaches, tomatoes, and figs from the gardens. Loved the tranquility of the entry fountain. Binoculars and telescope provided for great viewing of eagles, herons, woodpeckers, finches, and crabbing boats. We didn’t get to enjoy the outdoors as much as we’d hoped due to the heavy smoke in the region during our stay, but there was still plenty to enjoy inside. Dining on the deck, lazy afternoons in the porch swing, and evenings in the beautiful new gazebo with fire pit and s’mores supplies will have to wait until next time! [Remember to keep kids and dogs well away from the fence and cliff just beyond.]
A Rare Gem
It is rare to find a gem like this, a place to gather with family and friends, to share a meal, to sit a gaze at a lovely view. Our stay was perfect in every way, the warmth of the woodwork, the art, the jazz. We love to cook and the home was well equipped to cook everything from a BBQ, to Coho Salmon, to Prime Rib. We were in town for our sons wedding, the home was perfect for hosting those we love. Thanks Bruce for tending to this house with care, it is a special place with a fabulous view of the bay,

Our Relaxing Stay in Port Townsend
The Discovery Bay home is very elegant and exceeded our expectations. Bruce provides many extra touches to ensure his guests feel welcomed. These include multiple vases of fresh flowers, candy dishes, a gourmet stocked kitchen and cold drinks in the refrigerator, to name a few. The water view is outstanding with many bird feeders placed around the home to make bird watching fun. We highly recommend this home to anyone visiting the Port Townsend area.
