The kitchen is the central area of the Cottage with a counter looking into the living room. With two skylights, natural light floods the house all day. Wherever possible, I have tried to make it sustainable. We removed all the old carpet, laminate flooring and linoleum (from the 50's) tile. The use of low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints was very important to me, as I did not want there to be any out-gassing. The exterior was light blue with turquoise trim. We repainted it a light gray and turquoise, and added a touch of Coral around the windows. I found a cool door that looks like it is from the 50's. The original concrete floors were repaired and shined. I had the kitchen cabinets refaced instead of replacing them. We also reconditioned the original wood windows. Wherever possible, I have used cotton and natural fibers. The lawn was removed with the "sheet mulching" process, and replaced with mushroom compost. It takes longer to remove, but there were no chemicals used. Sometimes I use vinegar on pesky weeds. Currently, the garden is a work in process, and soon it will flourish as the mushroom compost is super enriched. There are succulents (from my BFF's daughter's wedding), and other drought tolerant plants. There is an herb garden if you want to cook. The toilets and shower heads are low-flow. My cleaning service is allergic to chlorine, so I am thrilled to say that she is familiar with the cleaning and sterilizing qualities of vinegar and baking soda. We also use Mrs. Myers products. One bedroom features a comfy queen bed with all the pillows and blankets you will need, and French doors that lead out to the backyard. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a bathroom with a shower, and a garden window with my shell collection. It also has French doors that lead out to the backyard. The gardens are a work in progress. The desk in the living room is full of local brochures on what to do in Ventura and surrounding areas. I EVEN CREATED A CHARGING STATION FOR DROIDS AND MACS. I now have 2 adult bikes, one has a basket and there is a tool kit. There are a lot of amazing surf spots nearby including Ventura Point, Pitas Point and Rincon. There is a gas grill, a wood fire pit, a big screen SmartTV, blow dryer, portable air conditioner and lovely patio table and chairs in the backyard. There is also an Airbed for extra people, plus 2 twin beds. (There is an extra charge for more than 3 people). The kitchen has a full size gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, French press (you might find some coffee in the frig), a small Crock Pot,and plenty of cooking supplies. There is a full length mirror on the bedroom doors. The Pier is about 1.5 miles north; To the south is Marina Park and Beach which is a great kids beach. There is plenty of parking, picnic areas, a small zipline and a small tot sized ship for exploring. The bike path and state beach are about 4 blocks north. The Seaward business district has plenty of restaurants and only 5 blocks(beach blocks are short) to the south. (See the guide book in the 3 ring binder). Ventura is a not only a city, but a county with numerous cities and communities with their own personalities. There is great hiking in the hills. You can hop on the trolley to get downtown or the Harbor. Coral Cottage is a block to the beach. Ventura County Fairgrounds are about 2.5 miles away, Downtown has lots of restaurants and fun shops. We also have a live music scene and an artist community. Lastly, please enjoy your stay. Thank you for choosing Coral Cottage.

Why Donna Benton chose Pierpont Bay
I fell in love with Coral Cottage when I first saw her. She so reminds me of the first house my parents bought in the 50's. I lived at the beach a few years ago, and I plan to move into this house one day. Currently, I live about 3 miles to the beach. All of the neighbors are super friendly, the beach is not too hectic (except when there is an event going on). You can walk to just about everything and leave the car parked. If you want to go anywhere, take the trolley. If you want to get out of town, it is easy to get on to the freeway. There is so much do, plenty of shopping, relaxation, boating, whale watching, restaurants, art galleries and events, live entertainment, the bike path is a few blocks away, things to do at the County Fairground. You can find great produce at the numerous farmer's markets in the area.
What makes this Cottage unique
Mostly natural fibers throughout the house. Cleaning products: vinegar, baking soda, Mrs. Myers, Oxyclean, fragrance/chemical free products and elbow grease. No chemicals or pesticides in the garden.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Getaway during a swim meet...
We had a wonderful stay and Donna was incredibly helpful! My daughter had a swim meet nearby and we were able to easily navigate the distance and events while staying at this lovely home. Thank you Donna for sharing the cottage and making what could have been a stressful event, relaxing and convenient. The cottage had everything we needed and more. Kay's coffee and the walks to the beach helped fill the time in a fun way!
Donna is a great host. The cottage is cute, clean & comfy. It's just a short walk to one of the best beaches in Ventura. We had a great time. Thank you Miss Donna.
Great location and very comfy-had everything we needed for a relaxing stay close to beach.
Very comfortable and well maintained cottage-perfect for 2-4 people; walking distance to beach.
Thank you for your great review of Coral Cottage. You were great guests.
Hope to have you stay again.
Great house and location just as described.
Donna could not have been any more accommodating or easier to communicate with. She is a great host and had everything you could ever need available.
Great pet-friendly vacation rental
Spent 4 nights in Ventura last week and a had a very nice stay. House is well-located near beach, with restaurants and stores close by. It was clean and attractive, with a lot of attention to detail for guests. Bedrooms were excellent and we enjoyed the nice outdoor space behind the house. We did a little bit of cooking and baking and the kitchen had everything we needed. Parking was available in front of house. Owner Donna is a good communicator. Would happily stay here again.
Thank you for your kind review. I am glad you and your family had an enjoyable stay. You were excellent guests and any other hosts would be happy to have you stay at their property. I would happy to see you again. Please come back.
All the best,
Donna at Coral Cottage
Fun little house with everything you may need!
The kitchen is supplied with everything. Has a cute front garden and a back patio that we sat in and enjoyed a glass of wine. My bed was extremely comfortable. It is a short walk to the beach. Loved the place!
It was a pleasure to host you and your associates. I know you were busy most of the time, but glad you were to sit and have a glass of wine. Please feel free to come back again. Thank you for staying and thank you for the excellent review.
