About Donna Maltz
Aloha, from Donna and Kevin, the Host of Always In Season Farmstead. We have been coming to the island since 1984 and are finally full time residence in our gorgeous farmstead location. We ran the Fresh Sourdough Express Bakery & Café in Homer Alaska for 30 years and for 12 of those years we also ran A Memorable Experience,” an eco-friendly bed and breakfast and full service destination wedding location. We performed and catered over 100 weddings and accommodated people from around the world. Hence we now have our dream home and business in Hawaii. Always In Season Farmstead has enables us to combine our love for food, people and the planet into one. This is an awesome place to rest, relax, rejuvenate, get married, renew your vows, have a farm to table meal, take a culinary class and have some fun. I recently graduate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I have been trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on all my experience and this knowledge, I now enjoy teaching culinary classes, hosting wellness retreats, and coaching entrepreneurs and individuals choosing to make a change. One of my passions is to help others create a personalized “road map to health” that suits their unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals encompassing soil-to-soul solutions. We know how important hospitality is and we enjoy it. We love meeting people from around the country and the world and sharing all the magic that this island has to offer. So come for a few nights, a week, or longer, get married here, or renew your vows. We look forward to meeting you! Aloha Donna & Kevin

Why Donna Maltz chose Hawi
When we travel, we always look for the out of the way places for a unique experience. That is what you will find at Always In Season Aloha Cottage. We also look for Value, and this upcountry Paradise offers you magnificent landscaped grounds and an Executive Country Suite with a kitchenette, and outdoor Bath House. If you are ok showing, going to the bathroom and washing your dishes out side. It is very private. ~ and yes ~ a real toilette. It is truly awesome. This place is epic. Always In Season Cottage sits in a park-like setting with majestic views. This upcountry Eco-friendly property will take your breath away. We compost, recycle and are avid gardeners. At Always in Season, our home is powered by the sun. We are on three acres, yet it feels like 3000. Forest, pastures and ranch land surround us with a few other county homes in view. We had been living in Hawaii for ten years before we bought this property. We choose it for the fantastic view, cooler climate, and privacy. If you are looking for beauty in a tropical setting you will find it at Always In Season Farmstead. We love the fact that we can grow the best fruits and veggies here at this elevation. We also love the fact that there are very few bugs and so much beauty... we love the response from our guest when they arrive and the gratitude when they leave. We love that we are close to town, to the best swimming on the island, and to many great adventures. Kevin and I have been professional chefs for over 30 years and we offer our guests the opportunity to take a culinary class and or enjoy a Farm to Table Meal. This was a very peaceful and beautiful property and Donna was very friendly and kind to share with us some local beach access points that were incredibly beautiful. We loved the beauty of this area. The cabins were very very clean and the grounds were immaculate. The kitchen and sleeping area were well equipped and comfortable. This would be the perfect place to go to write a book or focus on a project without distraction! If you're wanting to be close to restaurants and shops, this probably wouldn't be the place for you but it's great for hiking and rejuvenating! Mahalo Donna!
Donna and Kevin are caring, helpful, informative, fun hosts!
Our place was very comfortable, quiet, and well-equipped with stunning views in a private, beautifully landscaped setting. Donna and Kevin suggested hikes, beaches, farmers markets, and events we may have missed. We would return in a minute for a longer stay with friends and family! So appreciate all!
Delightful, kind, interesting, funny, on top of being wonderful clean and respectful guests. We are so looking forward to your return!
Big Love and Aloha
You’ll be back for more!
We returning every year. It’s the only one of 15+ Big Island cottages, which we stayed in for the past 5yrs, that we keep coming back to. Quiet, relaxing and wonderful hosts.
Next time we are staying for a month... lovred the property, convience to town and beaches. Loved it all
Best Part of our Trip
We loved the outdoor shower, abundance of citrus and avocados, the wake bird songs, ..... and OMG the rainbows.
Donna and Kevin were super hosts....
We're already booked for next year.
A lovely property with orchards and elegant landscaping. Friendly, caring hosts.
Linda and I had a wonderful and comfortable time in Hawi, especially in your lovely spot. The grounds are beautiful and our room and dining area cozy. We enjoyed the orchard and beautiful landscaping, the outdoor bathroom and shower, which put me in mind of my first home in Vermont which had an outhouse whose only protection was a roof on four corner-posts. We were touched by the lovely vases of flowers in the two rooms, and enjoyed a most comfortable bed and the desk under the window where Linda worked on her paintings and journal. We were sorry you were away most of the time as we would have enjoyed getting to know you – next time! In any case, we would recommend your bnb to anyone visiting the area.
Thanks for the heartfelt review. Appreciate all your attention appreciating the details describing Always In Season Cottage. Kevin and I enjoyed meeting you both and look forward to your return and sharing more of North Kohala with you. Big Love D&K
Hawi, is known as North Kohala’s biggest little town. It is the bicycle turnaround for the annual Ironman World Championship held every October, the best whale watching coastline, delicious eateries, brilliant artits and musicians, organic farming, unique shopping opportunities, wonderful alternative healers including massage therapists, acupuncture, naturopath’s, herbalists, yoga therapists and more . This charming historic town is situated on the northern tip of the Big Island rich with rich history and culture. The Climate is a bit cooler than the hot coastline and we get our share of refreshing, revitalizing wind, which keeps the air some of the cleanest in the world. A few miles north of Hawi is the fun historic town of Kapaau, home of the original King Kamehameha I Statue. Here you will find Kamehameha Park, which offers free use of great tennis courts, a public swimming pool and wonderful children’s playground. There is even a small user-friendly golf course for a nominal fee. Continue driving east on Highway 270 and you’ll literally come to the end of the road at the stunning Pololu Valley Overlook where you can enjoy a spectacular view and hike down to the valley. Keokea Beach Park is not to be missed as a wonderful place for picnic. A few Miles south of Hawi are my favorite swimming and snorkeling spots on the Island. We will have to guide you to get to some of them. Mahukona Beach Park is my favorite place to whale watch and swim. If you want to fish, we can send you in the right direction. There are many historical sites and parks along the coastline to enjoy. Kawaihae is 17 miles away and offers great dinning and music at the Blue Dragon Restaurant, or you can enjoy Café Pesto’s cuisine. This is also where one of the islands most used harbor resides and where the old style Canoe teams launch their boats. We have a great Farmers Market every Saturday under the majestic Banyan Tree. Terrific Art Galleries, excellent restaurants, and endless entertainment await you in the quaint villages of Hawi and Kapaau. Guests can go on energizing hikes using the nearby trails. Kohala Zipline and other fun Eco Tours are 5-10 minutes away. Mahukona Beach Park and spectacular Pololu Valley are just a 15 minute drive away. Always In Season is a 1 hour drive from the Kona Airport and close to just about anything this magical Island has to offer. We love assisting our guests with their island vacation. There are also wonderful class's and events at the Kohala Village Hub, Yoga in several places, Check at GoKohala website.
