About Patricia Rubel

This property is owned by 3 members of one family in Spartanburg SC. plus a doctor friend & another friend from Ohio. We all use the house throughout the year, the remaining weeks are available for rent. We have enjoyed going to Harbor Island for 27 years.

Patricia Rubel purchased this house in 1987

Why Patricia Rubel chose Saint Helena Island

The house is located such that we have a wide ocean view together with an unrestricted view of the marsh. The house was purchased after reviewing plans for the new Pelican Point area, when the island was being developed.

What makes this house unique

We chose the location with the best views of ocean & marsh, also it is easy to walk to the beach and the Beach & Racquet Club with it's facilities.

Great House! Would stay there again!

  • 4 of 5

Just got home from Harbor Island, 31B Pelican Point! We all loved the house....everyone from our 5 month old granddaughter to the older grands, son, daughter and in-laws to the slightly older grandparents!! The house had almost everything we needed for a perfect week at the beach! The bedrooms were spacious, and had plenty of closet space......the kitchen was very well stocked with glasses, dishes and pots and pans.......The views from the back of the house are spectacular! Beautiful sunrises reflecting on the ocean! Our beach access was damaged from the hurricane, so we had a bit of a walk (not too bad) to get to the beach, but hey......I contribute part of that to LOSING weight on vacation! LOL! My only complaint was the mosquitoes........they were terrible.....so bring plenty of insect repellent! Patricia was wonderful to work with! I highly recommend this house, and would definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review & glad you had a great time. We have not visited since the hurricane, so we have not seen the damage to the beach access, I guess you cannot have it both ways, the sand dunes in the 220yds distance to the beach helps protect the house from storms. but obviously can suffer during a storm. It is a pity mosquitos were bad at that time but did not seem to have had too much effect on your vacation. Frankly we have never been bothered much by them. Thanking you again. Regards Patricia Rubel

Dated...but rental price is hard to beat.

  • 3 of 5

Pelican Point nice location to both the beach and the pool area. Our needs were adequately met. Nice stocked kitchen with big pots and pans. Cooked our own food only ate out one night at the "Dockside" Restaurant in Beaufort. Our 4 grand-kids (2 sets of twins) the girls age 7 and the boys age 3 loved the communal pool. The boys had great fun in the pool just their size only 1 1/2' deep!

Owner's Response: We are very pleased you all enjoyed the vacation. & glad to hear you were able to cook all the meals you needed. with adequate facilities. We are gradually improving the facilities after we were hit hard by the hurricanes just over a year ago. As you say, the rental price is hard to beat. Thanking you again. Patricia Rubel.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your excellent review, We had a lot of damage due to the hurricane, but have renewed and rehabilitated a lot of features in the house.. We intend to keep it in the best condition we can. & still have some improvements we intend to make. You are correct in saying that the views from the porches are very good, & we think we probably have the best all around view at Pelican Point. Thanks & Regards. Patricia Rubel

Wonderful family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at pelican point. The beach wasn't crowded at all and just a short walk from the house. The house was very spacious and accommodating. The pool is very nice and also has a playground right next to it. Overall we had a great time!

Owner's Response: We are very pleased that you liked the house, it's close location to the ocean & the many amenities in the area, but it is also possible to have a quiet vacation if you so desire. We had a lot of roof & internal damage from the hurricanes & have done much renovating. We are very pleased everything went well & you all had a great vacation. The locals here say "come & see us."--please do. Thanking you. Patricia Rubel

This was a great property! There are beautiful views from every window and porch!

  • 5 of 5

The location of this home was perfect. It was a short walk down the boardwalk to an uncrowded beach. All the rooms were large and comfy with more than enough room for the 10 people in our group. The views are amazing no matter where you look. There is a perfect sunrise view and a great sunset view as well. You have an ocean view on one side and a marsh view on the other. We loved it! The owners were great to work with and super nice! We were thankful for the available beach chairs at the property. There is even a backyard where the kids could play! Plus the laid back atmosphere of the island allowed for them to ride their bikes around as well. The kids also enjoyed the beach and racket club where they were able to play basketball and tennis. The pool was nice as well, though a little chilly in April. We really enjoyed our trip and hope to visit this property again!!

Owner's Response: Thanks very much for your positive review, & we are glad you enjoyed your stay. we hope to see you back again in the future.. You were the first visitors after we had repaired the house following the storms, & we were apprehensive that there might be some deficiencies we had missed, but apparently not. We also note that the hurricane had not torn up the beach. I thought we worked together very well in the planning stages, which is very important. Best Wishes. Patricia Rubel

Wonderful Trip

  • 4 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay at Pelican Point on Harbor Island! The owner was attentive to our every need, and went above and beyond to ensure that our time spent in this vacation property was truly expceptional! Though the house itself had a few "wear and tear" issues, it was still perfect for what we were looking for in a vacation property! So, if you are looking for a comfortable home with exceptional service this is the place to stay.
