About Karen Gelowitz

We are your hosts, Karen & Paul. Paul is a recently retired electrician and I work in the real estate industry. Paul has owned the condo for 15 years and I have recently become part owner. Now that Paul has retired, he has lots of time on his hands, so we decided what a perfect way for him to keep busy was to start the vacation rental. I work in administration/accounting at my office, so I am better dealing with all the paperwork that comes with being an owner, while Paul handles all the other chores. We are new to the vacation rental business so its a learning curve for us, and hopefully we are on the right path to ensure all our clients are comfortable staying in our suite and have a great experience visiting Victoria.

Why Karen Gelowitz chose Downtown

Paul bought this property before it was built. He saw an opportunity to buy a waterfront condo in downtown Victoria, and jumped at it. He purchased the condo with his cousin from Port Angeles and initially they rented it out as a nightly rental but it was more then they could handle, so they rented it out month to month. I came into the picture a few years ago, and his cousin decided he wanted to sell his portion of the condo, so this is where I stepped in. Best investment I have ever made. I work with people who have vacation rentals and after asking a lot of questions, we decided this is what we should do with the condo. A decision we don't regret.

What makes this condo unique

The most unique part of this condo is the Roof top patio. A perfect spot to watch the sunset, or have a glass of wine and enjoy the view. Also watching the activity in the harbour from the living room with the floor to ceiling windows. The other thing is the secure underground parking. This is definitely a bonus for this property.

Love, love, love!!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We couldn't have been more happy with the condo along with its location. This place is located far enough away from the tourist's beaten path to make it enjoyable. We will definitely be staying here again.

Great location

Loved the view and rooftop garden which essentially doubled the size of the flat. Easy walking distance to just about everything downtown. Quiet building, but some night noise from the Canoe across the street. Easily drowned out with a little white noise provided by the range hood fan. Washer dryer were an added bonus as you can pack less clothing for longer stays. Owners are friendly, accommodating and punctual. Very good communication.

Small but perfect

Good for any single person coming to Victoria who is okay with a smaller area. Easily accessible to downtown and area. I would recommend to any friend coming alone to Victoria for a few nights and wanted to be by the action!

Charming condo in great location

We loved the well located efficient condo. Great view. Walking distance to great restaurants.. water taxi down the block. The bar, restaurant across the street was fun with dancing and music on Thurs-Sat. We put our earplugs in and slept just fine. Paul was a very welcome host. We plan on returning in the future.

Beautiful view, convenient location.

We loved the fact that Paul was there to let us in and see us away. It was perfect location to walk the harbour and ride the water taxi. And to have a parking space was a bonus. We would have loved the rooftop deck, but the weather was too cool.

Very clean and secure.

Enjoyed the Canoe club bar next door.

Best VRBO ever!!!

Karen was a delight to work with! I had to change the dates of my original reservation & she couldn't have been more accommodating! Was nice that I was met at the apartment building, she showed me where everything was, how to get up to the lovely rooftop private space, and how all the keys worked.

The unit itself was super clean, so comfy, had everything needed to make a great trip! Wifi was super fast & reliable, dedicated service so it's also secure. Murphy bed was quite comfy & easy to put up. Lots of nice towels, beautiful deep tub! Nice large closet, lots of hangers!

And the VIEW!! I literally could just sit on the comfy recliner and watch the harbor all day long, and some days I did! There is always activity in the harbor (even sometimes at night!) and can't forget about the fun of the float planes flying right overhead since it's on the top floor!

Location could not be any better!! Easy & cheap from Airport to get the YYJ Shuttle, was $44 CAN round trip. Tell them when you get to counter that you are going to Swan's, but ask driver to drop you off on the corner of Swift. It's your street, just a block away from Swan's and the driver will most likely appreciate not having to drive around the block to get to Swan's. (Just be sure to tip!) Return to airport, call for pickup at Swan's, about 5 minutes away, easy peasy!

So close to China Town! I really enjoyed Fan Tan Cafe! But was a surprise when I walked in, walls/ceiling are black with lights in ceiling like little stars, Picasso type prints on walls & nice jazz music playing! Great Chinese food! I loved the Spicy Veggie Combo Plate and Deep Fried Tofu with sweet chili sauce-be sure to ask for it extra crispy!

I also loved JAM for breakfast, quick walk there! Their Veggie Bowl (hash) was huge and delicious! Took leftovers home, bought duck eggs at the Victoria Public Market (when you go in, store on left) to put on hash the next day or two!

So easy to get to Butchart Gardens, go to visitor's center by the inner harbor & buy bus tickets, (bus schedule ) then bus 75 in front of Public Market (~8 minute walk), ~40 mins later, drops you right off at Butchart.

Nice walk down to Inner Harbor and Fisherman's Wharf! Lots of great places to people watch!

Overall can't imagine a better place to stay! And I just loved Victoria itself!! So beautiful, so easy to walk around, surprises around every corner!
