  • Amazing place for an easy-going family get-together

"We just finished renting both the chalet & the cottage for a week in late September to hold a small wedding (17 people in attendance). We were able to have the ceremony on the property (in the garden near the cottage) and then enjoy a week relaxing with family and friends. It was absolutely perfect for our needs: spacious, affordable, very private, with incredible views (we saw orcas from the property 3 separate times in one week) and a very easy-going, reasonable, flexible owner. The cottage is newer and fancier than the chalet, but both buildings have great views and were built thoughtfully in tune with the surroundings. The cottage is great for writing, yoga, and feels very peaceful and luxurious. The chalet is great for large, easy-going groups who don't mind a "lived-in" feel; some bedrooms are fancier and have better views than others, but the house has so much space everyone was able to relax and fully enjoy. Our group loved the whole property - one family member already arranged to rent it again next summer! Big kitchen and tables for family meals and board games, several decks, a hot tub with amazing views, many nooks and crannies to escape to. Pender Island has a lot to offer - we spent hours at Brooks Point and could have spent more. The summer farmer's market on Saturday is popular. We went hiking, kayaking/stand-up paddle boarding, visited various beaches...but really most of our time was spent relaxing with family and friends in the chalet. It is not easy to find a property this big on the Gulf Islands for this price. I know because I looked very hard! Excited to go back next summer."

  • Perfect Getaway

"My wife and I, and some friends stayed here for a reunion. My wife and her friends lived on Pender in the early 80's and this was the perfect base of operations for our stay. Comfy rooms, great kitchen, beautiful deck, and that amazing view! We spent long lazy mornings sipping coffee and remembering old times, and great evenings belly laughing over tall tales. I found a geocache at the nifty little beach almost the doorstep, we also bookedWhat a relaxing, comfortable place to stay. I would come back here in a minute."

  • Terrific for families - highly recommended!!

"We echo all of the other positive reviews on the site. The house is perfect for several families, with lots of different areas for gathering - the kids could watch TV/play games downstairs, while the adults socialized upstairs. (We had four adults and three kids, and never felt crowded.) The kitchen is very well set up. Everything was clean and well-organized but not fussy. It felt like staying at a friend's house (albeit a friend who owns a spectacular home on an amazing island.) The location also deserves a mention - we were able to walk to the disc golf course and several different viewpoints/beaches with ease. It was a short drive to the farmer's market / grocery store. Finally, Pam (the owner) was a terrific host, even though she is located in Ontario. She made sure that we had all our questions answered, and was always friendly and accommodating. Overall, a wonderful experience."

  • Stylish, comfortable and convenient

"We loved our three-week stay in this well-designed, bright and cosy one-bedroom apartment situated in a quiet cul-de-sac. The queen-sized bed is really comfortable and the heater is very efficient. The large shower head is a real luxury, as is the heated bathroom floor, and there are plenty of fluffy towels. It has a full kitchen with a large amount of cutlery, crockery, glassware, pots and pans. There are generous pantry provisions to welcome you. The Sidney shops are a short walk away, either via the main road or by the waterfront. The bus to the ferry or downtown Victoria is at the end of the street. It is so conveniently located. There is even a great local fish & chip shop a 5-minute walk away. Tara, Dan and the girls are lovely welcoming hosts. They were on hand if needed or just for a chat, but never intrusive. We were visiting my Mum, who lives a few streets away, and definitely plan to stay here during every future visit."
