We loved staying in the area close to where our mother/grandparents lived.
This property was wonderful for our needs. Nice to find almost everything we needed readily available. We loved the furnishings and decor. Reminded us of stopping by to see cousins. Need to be aware that soap was available at the bathroom sinks but not in the showers. Need to have more toilet paper particularly in the "common" bathroom, the bathroom available to the most rooms and therefore used by the most people. Found the flashlight but it didn't work. Also there was finishing solution for the dishwasher but no dishwasher soap. There was dish washing liquid so we just washed the dishes by hand. We really loved the "homey" feeling to the house playing games and even had a marshmallow roast before the rain set in. Also saw a family of wild turkeys!!
Incredible historical mountain cottage perfect for large family getaways on the Blue Ridge
We had an amazing experience staying at Laurel Lodge in Little Switzerland. The cabin is situated in a very convenient location close to mountain attractions like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Little Swiss Village, Crabtree, Linville and Grassy Creek Falls and within easy commute to bigger attractions like Grandfather Mountain, Boone, Blowing Rock, and Asheville among other worthy destinations. The lodge feels secluded but is within minutes to Walmart for all of our grocery needs.
Our group loved the quaint and unique decor of the lodge which was obviously the culmination of a lifetime of summer family vacations. The garden and grounds were beautiful in late summer and perfect for young children to explore. The mornings and evenings were cool and crisp in mid August with a few showers here and there to remind us of the fact that we were in a wild and wonderful wilderness area. We kept the many windows open all week and never felt the 95 degree heat and humidity the foothills were experiencing. The view from the porch was a stunning spot to sip coffee or a local brew and there was plenty of seating outside for everyone to gather comfortably.
This is definitely an older home with all the quirks and charm that comes with age. The layout is perfect for a family or two or a group of friends to gather in the summer months and can easily accommodate 10 or 12 folks as long as some are willing to share the "bunk room" which has 5 beds. The remaining bedrooms are a queen, two twins and a king suite.
The lodge is situated in between the Blue Ridge Parkway and Highway 226a, so sometimes traffic sounds of passing motorists could be a bit loud. Also remember this is an older house and doesn't have all the bells and whistles of new built vacation homes! For our group, neither of those things were a problem in the least.
Laurel Lodge absolutely was the highlight of our 8 day stay in the mountains. We hope dearly we can continue to return there and create more amazing Little Switzerland memories of relaxation and adventure.
Wonderful Lodge With Breathtaking Views!
The Laurel Lodge is perfectly perched on top of Little Switzerland and boasts some of the most spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Located seconds away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, with easy access to nearby Spruce Pine.
The Laurel Lodge has plenty of beds for all of your family and a big kitchen in the middle. We enjoyed our stay there and you will too!
Annual motorcycle trip
We were supposed to be a group of 6 but the hurricane kept 4 from coming. My brother and I did make the trip a day later than planned. This was one of the best places we have stayed in yet, and it definitely had the best view. Access to the Lodge was perfect for motorcycles. I highly recommend this Lodge for anyone and larger groups as well.
Comfortable , large home with view
Very comfortable, lovely home with a lodge flair. Beautiful view at 3500 feet elevation. And truly grand weather. We were able to open the windows and enjoy the great sleeping weather as well as hiking weather. Loved Crabtree Falls, Roan Mountain, and Mt. Mitchell. Everything we needed was at 38 Laurel Lodge.
Laurel Lane, Little Switzerland,NC
Melissa was great and made our trip a perfect. We lived in Little Switzerland 40 years ago and this was our first vist for an extended stay. Took our kids and grandkids, and had a great time. This old house was perfect for 10. Good to see Old friend , Dirt.
So glad you enjoyed your stay in Little Switzerland. This is truly a beautiful place if you are looking to be directly on the parkway and the views are amazing. It was a pleasure working with you. We look forward to your return visit. Best to you.
