Great Location new Carrollton and Canal, and only 100 yards from the Streetcar. One Hundred Year Old Historic Family Home. Hardwood Floors, 10 foot ceilings, Two Decorative Fireplaces, Leaded Glass.

There is a Queen size bed in front room of Double Parlor. The center room / living room contains a Smart TV and a Sofa that opens to another Queen bed that is perfect for a couple of children.

The 24 foot long kitchen has lots of space for a family to gather, and yet another futon sofa. This one features a new 10 inch futon mattress. The kitchen door closes to create a cozy sleeping area.

This is a great place to lounge with the family, or snooze while the kids watch movies in the living room.

The bathroom is off the kitchen It is small, but squeaky clean. It features a ceramic stall shower, sink and commode. Also off the kitchen is a hanging area for your clothes and a cubby cabinet with extra towels and cleaning supplies.

We have twenty restaurants within a two block walk. Within the same area are a national pharmacy, two major supermarkets, three urgent care centers, two bars, three banks, two day spas, and a dry cleaner.

About Pat & Melissa

We are a married couple 'over 50' Pat works as a Travel Tour operator (Costa Rica), Melissa is a medical professional at a local hospital. We love New Orleans and are excited to share it with visitors. Melissa is from here and Pat came in the late 1970s. We know our city very well. We fully embrace the quirky culture of New Orleans. We love the local music scene, the festivals, and (most of all) the local food! We are longstanding members of an 'underground' Carnival krewe, and we march in the annual Krewd de Vieux Mardi Gras parade. We are happy to share our vast knowledge of New Orleans with our guests.

Why Pat & Melissa chose Mid-City

Location! MidCity bills itself as 'The Heart of the City'. It is convenient to everything. The Canal Streetcar stop is only 100 yards away. This is one of the safest neighborhoods in the city. It is easy to hop the streetcar to the French Quarter, or within a half mile of Jazz Fest. Close to City Park and I-10.

What makes this Apartment unique

Lots of Space for a family to spread out. There is a new queen bed in the front bedroom. This is actually a double parlor, which is extremely common in New Orleans. The second room doubles at a living room, with a Smart TV and a DVD player. The large sofa folds down to another queen bed. Perfect for a couple of kids. This rental features a fully equipped kitchen, that is 24 feet long. There is another new futon sofa here, with a 10 inch mattress. This is fine for another couple, or teens that want their own space. The full bath is off the kitchen. Guests in the front room have to pass through the corner of the kitchen to access the bath. The kitchen also featrues Stainless steel appliances and lots of prep space.. With two supermarkets only two blocks away, you can save a few dollars by making breakfast and lunch at 'home'. This is a free standing building in the owner's backyard. Lots of privacy and very secure.

      • Main bedroom is the front room of a very large double parlor with a stained glass and leaded bay window. The bed backs up to original double doors and faces a beautiful decorative fireplace. This room features a new gel foam queen mattress, dresser, and a Pack N Play on request. The second bedroom is actually the living room. This space is open to the master. The sofa folds down to a comfy futon bed, that is ideal for a child or two. There is also a new queen futon sofa in the huge kitchen. This area is more private, and could work for another couple or teen that wants privacy. The futon features a new 10 inch mattress. See kitchen description.

                                                      Lovely older house full of dark wood and tile along with eclectic art. Clean and comfy. Right off the streetcar line. Melissa’s wild garden is wonderful. Two downsides: couch in the living room is extremely uncomfortable and aged. And, as stated in a prior review, the air/heat unit is extremely loud. If you are a light sleeper, you will be disappointed. Fortunately for me, I could turn it off as the weather was perfect.

                                                      This is the second time we've been guests of Pat and Melissa and we really enjoy our stays at their property. This time, we came for Mardi Gras. We're not tourists exactly, I'm an LA native and visit my family often, so the usual requirement to be near the French Quarter doesn't apply to us (I prefer to AVOID the Quarter generally), however, it's a straight shot down Canal on the streetcar to get there. In any case, Mid-City is, well, in the middle, it's easy to get to whichever part of NOLA you desire from there. I'd absolutely recommend staying at this Mid-City rental. Quiet (when it's not Mardi Gras, of course! Everything is bumpin' during Carnival!), easy parking if you have a car, easy to get around without a car, great restaurants and bars (12 Mile is my personal favorite), and then the unit itself is beautiful. All the old school charm of a creole cottage but still modern and comfortable. Both AC and heat were required during out stay (crazy weather) and both worked just fine, bed is supportive-no back pain or aching, bathroom is super cute! The kitchen is huge and has everything you could possibly need. We were just two adults, but I could see this unit being very comfy for a family with kids with the futons available.

                                                      My sisters and I stayed here for Voodoo Fest 2017. The Mid-City residential location off of N. Carrollton Street was perfect and the house is walking distance from Winn Dixie and several coffee shops and restaurants (we highly recommend The Bean Gallery for coffee and Katie's Restaurant for brunch). The sleeping arrangements were comfortable -- one queen in the bedroom area, one sofa bed in the living room, and a queen near the kitchen. The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed. Pat and Melissa were so friendly and helpful, and gave us all the insider tips and recommendations.

                                                      We enjoyed our stay and found the place clean, spacious and well stocked with everything we needed for us and our toddler. The location was an easy walk to city park and the street cars. Pat was very accommodating and gave us lots of helpful information for our stay.

                                                      The location really is the best thing. That's not to say the accommodations weren't nice. The apartment was clean and cozy with plenty of character. Back to the location, I parked my car and it didn't move again until I left. The neighborhood was safe and definitely quiet. You are within a very short walk of several restaurants. Shout out to Blue Dot Donuts around the corner. The Canal St streetcar stop is a short walk and runs all night in both directions. It is also a great way to meet the locals who seemed quite friendly and patient with out-of-towners who have never been on a streetcar before. Definitely would stay here again.
