Lazy Lehua Cottage was lovingly built in 2004. The idea for Lazy Lehua Cottage was to make it a special place for guests to stay, dream, and regroup. Focus was on putting as much character, charm and soul in to it and making it a whimsical, beautiful place for everyone to enjoy. Trees were hand cut and property cleared only enough to put the Lazy Lehua Cottage in its perfect place. The beautiful Ohia trees that unfortunately had to be cut down were used for the posts on the lanais giving it, its whimsical cottage look that blends in well with the rain forest. In keeping in the spirit of whimsical, some of the furniture throughout the cottage was hand crafted; coffee table, bar top and headboard on bed all using local, exotic and native woods. Our property is unique as we use our home often and we visit frequently so it is kept in immaculate condition! We know you'll feel the magical spirit of the house when you stay here.

About Stacey - Owner/Manager
Lazy Lehua Cottage has been a succesful vacation rental for over 10 years. We recently had the opportunity to purchase this property from the owner and are execited to continue to offer our home as a vacation rental. We live in California and have been coming to Hawaii for many years. This home is used as our own personal vacation home and is kept in immaculate condition. We fell in love with the Volcano community with it's beautiful rain forests, cool weather and morning sounds of singing birds. Volcano and its community has much to offer and we hope you enjoy our home in the rainforest as much as we do.

Why Stacey - Owner/Manager chose Volcano
I have stayed at many vacation homes in my travels. Our home was built as a full time residence and since we only stay at our home part time, we have decided to share our home as a vacation destination. We love Hawaii and the cool weather that Volcano provides after a hot and humid day at the beach. The 3 things we hear most from our guests at Lazy Lehua Cottage, (1)"The pictures don't do it justice, it's much better in person", (2) "We wish we would have stayed longer" and (3) "The Lazy Lehua Cottage was our favorite accommodations during our stay on the Big Island". Come see for yourself!
What makes this House unique
Our proximity to Hawaii Volcano National Park, 2 short miles to the entrance. Mauna Loa Estates is a very quiet and safe community. The home was built so that the rain forest surrounds the cottage which provides the ultimate in privacy. The beaches...you have your choice of tide pools for snorkeling, black sand beaches for turtle watching or the white sand beaches in Hilo. It is a unique opportunity to be able to visit all these beaches from one central location. If you are looking for true Aloha and to live the Hawaii life, this is it!

Great escape to the rain forest
This is a great little cottage set in the rain forest. It was so peaceful, despite the nearby volcano. Stacey was great about keeping us appraised about the recent volcano activity, even offering to do a full refund if we chose to cancel our reservation so close to our arrival. We never got any ash fall or vog while there, even with a major eruption at the main crater. The trade winds kept that at bay. We did feel some small earthquakes. No sweat there, as we used to live in SoCal. Unfortunately, the national park was closed, so we spent much of our time at sites near Hilo. If you are a morning person, then you will love waking up to the sunshine. Not so much for night owls such as ourselves, as there were no blinds or drapes on the bedroom windows. There was no sleeping in for us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, even with the volcano acting up.
Delightful cottage in a quiet forest
We loved the Lazy Lehua! It was such a great landing place after our flight to Hawaii. Our kids loved the bunk beds, hammocks, and Jacuzzi tub. Although Volcano National Park closed right as we pulled into town, we still had a relaxing time, in part because this little cottage is so well stocked and comfortable. They have thought of everything you might need! I really appreciated Stacey, who was great about staying in contact about the activity at the volcano before our stay. We felt well informed about the situation. We would absolutely go stay here again!
Our favorite vacation cottage!
Lazy Lehua Cottage has exceed all our expectations for a vacation stay. From careful and detailed preparation on how to get there from the owner to the wonderful location and the loving decoration of the cottage, we couldn't have wished for more! My teenage kids loved the hot tub, the fast internet, the hammocks and the relaxed feel of the house. Me, the mum, loved all the thoughtful little details, such as toiletry articles (when needing body lotion), bandages, plastic ziplock bags, spices, tupper ware containers, coffee grinder and fresh beans, hot chocolate and popcorn as evening surprise for the kids! We basically would have loved to just stay in the property and chill! And we did that one happy afternoon after checking out the volcano national park. Even found board games to play together! And listened to the Hawaiian music on the stereo! Unfortunately, with the increased seismic activity and lots of earthquakes ongoing, we had to cut our stay short. Stacey has been amazing in understanding my worries as a mum and in offering to not charge the room rate for the last day. We would definitely recommend anyone to stay here and would love to be back one day in the future - when hopefully Pele has quieted down her volcano;-) All the best to you, Stacey, and your lovely home!
Loved this place. So peaceful and well decorated.
Wonderful stay in LL cottage
Thank you again Stacey for sharing your home at Volcano village, we really enjoyed our 3 nights stay in this part of the island and did a lot of hiking with our two boys. Rain forest is really peaceful and your cottage is beautiful, inspiring and cosy. Few minutes and we were at the volcano park and we enjoyed everything we did and see around. We loved Bid Island !
Clean and nice
The house was as advertised and was modern and clean. It is very quiet and relaxing. Close to the Volcano National Park and not too far from Hilo. I would recommend staying here if you want to visit this side of the island.
Hawaii Volcano National Park entrance is just 2 miles down the road where you can view the lava at Jagger Overlook. Local Art Galleries, Skate Park, Winery, Golf Course and Country Club, Volcano Village Sunday Farmers Market.
