A lovely North Park property, close to restaurants, shopping, Balboa Park, downtown and the waterfront. The amazing wraparound deck and assigned indoor parking were a bonus. Rich was the consummate host ensuring our stay from check in to checkout was comfortable. He is easy to communicate with and quick to respond to our questions or issues. We stayed 2 months and Rich made us feel like this was our home. Thank you Rich for sharing this beautiful property with us!Alan & Sherry
I was here for an extended work assignment with the Navy and wanted a place close to Hillcrest/North Park for fun but also close to the Navy base for work. I got exactly what I wanted in this place. A beautiful 2 bedroom 2 bath condo that’s very spacious inside but also has 2 extremely large outdoor patio areas for even more room. Walking distance to dozens of restaurants, bars, the world famous San Diego Zoo. I was very happy with this rental and working with Rich was also very easy. I would stay here again and recommend it for anyone needing a long-term rental in San Diego.
The only thing missing in our 2 month stay was warm weather. Believe it or not it snowed in San Diego during our visit.
In spite of that we enjoyed our stay. Although the weather would not allow us to sit outside, the spacious patio was available on two sides of the living room. The kitchen was equipped with every utensil you would ever want or need and the underground parking was secure and easy to use. The property is centrally located for visiting the San Diego sites, and is within walking distance to the Zoo and Balboa Park. The living room/ dining room are well appointed and comfortable. Rich is an attentive and available owner and was very helpful in making our stay comfortable.
We would certainly stay here again.
Thanks Rich

Nice Pics; But Did Not Like the Condo
Found the furniture uncomfortable and the condo outdated. Mold/mildew issues in kitchen and washer. Internet equipment was outdated and service would drop several times a day.

I am sorry your expectations were not met with your first experience with VRBO!!
Regarding the furniture comfort, others have told me otherwise and I feel that way, too. The L shaped living room couch is great for watching tv and napping as well as the recliner. Maybe you did not know it was a recliner?
Outdated comment, I can tell you that I have intentionally made a point to have more than 50 photos posted and a walk through video so you have you will have the best awareness possible especially being that my condo is a long term stay with a minimum of one month with some staying five months or more. I definitely do not feel the condo is outdated. I am sorry you felt this way.
I was sad to hear that was mildew found in the detergent drawer of the front load clothes washer and that there was mildew in the dishwasher airline that has a vent at the top of the kitchen sink. Fortunately, these were both easily remedied right away.
My experience and others have found the internet speed and consistency to be very good. I wish I had known so I could have helped. You might have been using the wifi signal for the apple airplay that used for the for eight ceiling speakers, which is slow and old technology used just for the music from your apple products. If I had known, I would have told you to connect with the very high functioning modem router that delivers 100mb plus download speed with over 200 plus upload wifi wise and faster with the direct ethernet cable.
I hope your expectations are exceeded with VRBO going forward and not soured! I have been doing this since 2016 and have taken steps to steadily improve the condo based on feedback. Thanks for taking the time for your feedback and happy travels!
Rich has a beautiful, clean, tasteful, and extremely comfortable apartment which we were delighted to live in for a magical month in San Diego. Not only was the apartment beautifully furnished, but has reliable fast internet, great large flat-screen TV’s, electronics for playing music, automatic lighting, and a well outfitted kitchen. The beds and furniture are super-comfortable, and the the entire apartment spotless.
One of the best features of this apartment is a very private and amazing huge terrace patio which every room of the apartment faces and/or opens to. This enables window coverings to be open all the time with 100% privacy looking out onto the lovely patio. The patio has soft cushion furniture for relaxing, or napping on - as well as a dining table and chairs where we had breakfast every morning. In addition there is a BBQ, and the area is beautiful lit at night as well. We also enjoyed eating dinner in the garden as well.
The building itself seems very safe and secure. Location is wonderful right on the edge of Balboa Park for great hikes, walking, the tennis facility, dog park, etc. And, within a 5 minute drive we found excellent, reasonably priced lovely local restaurants. Shopping is a breeze with multiple supermarkets and Trader Joe’s within 5 minutes as well. We found the location very central and easy to get anywhere in town including being a very fast drive to Coronado and Mission Valley as well.
Our one month rental this year was superb, and my recommendation carries the most weight knowing we have already engaged for a much longer rental again for next year. You won’t be disappointed.
This two bedroom condo was everything we hoped it would be. The owner of the property, RIch, was open, honest, friendly, and competent and he provided us with everything one could possibly need. The condo was clean, well -stocked, and maintained in a most professional manner. The location, adjacent to Balboa Park, was ideal and was a wonderful base for walks throughout both Hillcrest and North Park. Rich was always accessible and a font of knowledge about San Diego and the region. I would very, very highly recommend this VRBO rental.
'Rich's place was in a perfect location for our purposes. There was plenty of room to work remotely in the second bedroom area. There is also an unusually large outdoor patio area.. Rich was accessible for check in and to help with any issues that came up. Thanks again for sharing your Balboa Park condo with us!
Our family has stayed in numerous vacation homes across the country and internationally. We absolutely loved Rich’s condo and stayed for almost two months!
From the moment you walk in the door the open floor plan and glass doors to the large outdoor space gives you a real sense of a large home. The outdoor space is so unusual for a condo, running along the entire length of both sides with seating areas, dining area, lovely plants and an outdoor fireplace.
Rich has decorated with attractive and comfortable furnishings from couch to dining area to porch to beds. There are several built-ins including a large corner desk in the second bedroom which worked well for our virtual working. Internet service and speed is fantastic as well.
The building itself has a beautiful open inner courtyard just outside the front door. The nearby elevator and stairs make for easy access. The condo is very convenient; it is only a short distance from the zoo, Balboa Park, golfing, specialty shops and groceries.
Rich has thought of everything to make your stay special. We arrived to fresh flowers and sparking beverages and a renters’ guide that can answer any questions.
We highly recommend this lovely condo!
What a house and what a host! Well Rich is not only a host; he's tripadvisor, yelp and googlemaps in human form! He helped us during our 2 months stay with virtually everything from where to go and what to experience. The flat is amazing, right in the heart of San Diego, close to everywhere! If you plan to work during your stay, the flat has amazing Internet and even a printer/scanner! Bedrooms are spaceous and very comfy! Amazing patio for relaxing during your stay. I highly recommend this accomodation!
What can I add that others haven’t already shared? Rich & his place are absolutely fabulous! My husband & I were there for a month to find housing as we are relocating to San Diego. A sentiment my husband and I both shared every day was, “why can’t we just live here?” The patio is amazing, I could live just out there. Lush landscaping surrounds the place and is frequented by hummingbirds, songbirds, squirrels, a hawk & 2 tiny fledglings hopped right up beside me & into my lap. There are multiple outdoor areas surrounding the unit to enjoy in both shade and sun. The entire area is so peaceful and quiet. No noisy neighbors or loud planes overhead, just peace & quiet. The location is the absolute best. You are on the corner of a road that will get you anywhere in the area quickly and a dead end street that backs up to Balboa park. We loved hiking through the park and taking in the scenery, it seemed we were a world away. The location is directly centered between Northpark and Hillcrest so you are close to everything. Rich is an amazing host and has left no detail untouched. Everything you need to know is in the binder in the condo, but if by some crazy chance it’s not Rich is just a text or call away. The kitchen is one of the most adequately stocked we’ve ever used, better than my kitchen at home. We cooked multiple meals in it and didn’t lack a thing. On nights you’re too exhausted to cook there’s ton of fantastic restaurants close by or just have Postmates deliver it to the front of your condo door. The shower in the master is absolutely fantastic! Amazing water pressure and hot water. The jacuzzi tub was also excellent especially after a day of apartment hunting. The master bed is also a high point. I am a VERY picky sleeper and have a Tempurpedic at home. I usually don’t sleep in VRBO’S or hotels ever but this bed was perfect. My husband & I both slept like babies. There is a ton of closet space to put all your stuff away in as well. The hall shower is a brand new walk in and my husband says it’s fantastic too. While we didn’t sleep in the 2nd bedroom nightly I did take a nap or two in there and that bed is great as well. It was great to have in unit washer and dryers too. We needed certain outfits more & were happy to have a place to wash clothes. The building is very secure & assigned garage parking is a huge bonus. We found by staying here that this was the area we wanted to live in permanently. I can’t recommend Rich & his condo enough!

Fantastic Apartment
I can’t say enough about Rich or his apartment. The pictures are beutiful but still don’t do it justice. Great location. The apartment is superbly appointed and Rich could not have been more responsive or accomodating. We were there for a month and that wasn’t long enough. When we come back next year this is the place we will stay without hesitation.

Luxurious condo practically inside Balboa Park
I recently stayed for a month at Rich’s condo in San Diego. I have been renting houses/condos for years with VRBO, and this was the nicest, most completely furnished place I have ever rented. The kitchen has everything you will need and then some. The beds and the living room are very comfortable. The patio is a beautiful place to eat, and hummingbirds are flying around in the bushes to top it off.
The condo is at the bottom of a cool canyon, directly on the north side of Balboa Park, where there are primitive hiking trails. The frequent #7 bus stops a couple of blocks away (one of those blocks is pretty steep), and we rode it to the sights of Balboa Park and downtown very often. A grocery store and the zoo are in walking distance from the condo.
Rich goes out of his way to make sure you are enjoying your stay. Thanks Rich for a wonderful time.

Great Long-Term Rental Across from Balboa Park
My family of four (me, my wife, and two daughters - age 9 and 10) stayed in this condo for five weeks. The brief summary is that we would stay here again. The photos represent the building and unit well and I agree with everything written by James B, except we did not spend as much time on the wraparound patio.
My wife spent the most time in the unit, as she worked "from home" while my daughters were at camps and I was traveling throughout California for work. She thought the location was great and the cross-breeze through the condo was perfect when the patio doors are open. We did find that the unit retains the heat generated throughout the day and made it warm at night. But don't worry -- this unit has air conditioning and we slept comfortably! The condo and complex was also secure, with electronic locks on all entry ways and automatic garage doors.
My daughters shared the front bedroom and enjoyed their space over the five weeks. They thought the bed was fantastic and slept well every night. The adjustable bed in the master is a benefit that my wife and I did not use, but I can see the value.
Aside from the amenities, the property owner, Rich, was very accommodating. For example, our flight was three hours late, which meant we did not get to the condo the first night until 2AM. We had an issue getting into the garage and Rich was available via phone the entire time to ensure we made it in safely and provide a different parking pass. He checked in every week and was very receptive to the positive and constructive feedback we provided.
I hope we have the opportunity to have a long-term stay in San Diego again and will be reaching out to Rich if we do.

Amazing experience!
I found the apartment and location to be perfect. My only regret is I had to leave. I loved the proximity to the park and the location in general. It was very easy to communicate with the landlord leading up to and during the stay, and the apartment itself was ideal. It was very well-appointed but also very comfortable and felt like home. I also took good advantage of the outdoor patio. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

Well-situated along the north side of Balboa Park
My wife & I stayed here with our small dog for the month of April. The owner was very accommodating to give us the dates we wanted. This was the first time we stayed in a VRBO rental where the owner actually lives there & vacates when it is rented out. We found that we don't prefer that - though lots of stuff was probably put away, there were still a lot of his belongings around. The unit was well stocked with dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, supplies & had great outdoor balcony space. But unfortunately for us, there was an unpleasant odor emanating from the master closet. We were never able to get rid of it all month long, no matter how we cleaned or sprayed it. We did not complain to the owner until just before we left because we thought it would be too difficult to move all of his clothing duffles out of the master closet during our stay. (He was very concerned about our discomfort & offered a few free extra nights stay.) Early in our stay we considered moving into the 2nd bedroom to avoid the smell at night, but the mattress in that room was way too soft. We would not stay here again.

I'm so sorry to hear about that you two were not extremely satisfied! If I would have only known about any issues early on, I would have contacted my on call handy man to assist. He could have removed the four Ikea Frakta Storage Bags that you believe were emanating a smell in the 12 ft wide custom closet and placed the ionizer in there. I am empathetic because I have a very sensitive nose myself. The only feedback I received was in the beginning about trouble with the garage door opener and that the unit is very lovely with great balcony space. If I had only known about this issue, my handy man could have removed the blue zippered ikea bags in five minutes and I would have even asked the property manager to switch mattress for you liked! I am sorry this stained your entire experience. I am empathize with you because I sensitive to smells myself.
As the owner, I would like to note a few things for anyone reading this review. I do live in this condo about 25% of the year (3 consecutive months in the last year) and as a result, there are bonuses to whoever else should stay here. There are many comforts and upgrades you would not find in another rental home. My condo is not a hotel, but a home rental. There are cabinets that are locked, but there are not personal pictures or or any clutter. Some perks that come along with renting my condo that you might find in most are the home stereo system with speakers in each room in the ceiling including the shower that can be used with your Bluetooth phone or iPad, a stereo unit in the dining are that can be used 1/8” jack, iHome stereo alarm clock for an iPhone and an adjustable bed in the master bedroom, dimmers in every room, a magic bullet blender, reverse osmosis water filter, access to two mountain bicycles, and more. I am assuming some or most of these items are not found in a house rental.
I am sad there were not highlights or nice features in the review about the condo being well kept, nice high ceilings, all conveniences, located steps from Balboa park and walking trails in the neighboring canyon, 1 block from a 25 tennis court facility, or just a few minutes from interstate 5.
I think both parties learned something. I believe it is best to communicate in the beginning of any relationship something that is turn off and a potential deal breaker rather communicating it at the end when it is too late. I wish this couple the best and I am sorry that your time was not up to your expectations in my home. Cheers!

Northpark Gem at Balboa!
I had the great opportunity to stay at the Condo neighboring Balboa Park for several months. The entire experience was incredible. The nicely appointed condo has two bedrooms (with memory foam mattresses), two baths, marble floors, state of the art stainless steel appliances, oversized whirlpool bath with glass enclosure, full size front load washer and dryer and I could go on and on. The wrap around patio is amazing! From a complete patio furniture set and two large sliding glass doors to the outdoor fireplace and lounge chairs, you will want to spend much of your time outdoors. Another little known secret is the penthouse barbeque area appointed with two upgraded stainless steel gas grills and covered patio area where you and friends can grill some steaks and enjoy the weather. The neighborhood is quiet and very private. The condo itself is located on the 2nd floor, but you wouldn't know it as the back half and patio is at the ground level with tons of shade trees and greenbelt out of the public view.
The condo is located across the street from the amazing Balboa Park, with tons of hiking and bicycle trails, museums and eateries to choose from. Also nearby are the Northpark and Southpark and Burlingame neighborhoods, each of which with their unique restaurants, pubs and architecture. Buona Forchetta, one of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego, is located within minutes.
The property owner is always a phone call away and sincerely wants you to have an enjoyable stay. He is always available to answer questions, provide helpful information about the area and will accommodate you in every way possible.
I can't say enough about my experience and only wish I could have stayed longer. This is actually my third long term stay in San Diego and this rental was my favorite. It was the nicest with a much lower price than the two previous. In my view, it was a tremendous bargain.
Happy travels!

Why they chose this property
Condo borders Balboa Park, close to downtown/beach/all the hip spots You’ll love this large long term (30 day min) condominium rental because it's everything you would want in a premiere condo Review photos- the photos say it all about this large beautiful unique condo Home of the one of the largest patios in San Diego. The patios are right outside your patio doors. The patio receives just the right amount of sun in the summer, but it is less in the winter months. The roof top Condo is great for full sun all year round.
Great for couples, seniors, business travelers, work from home... All are welcome!
Great location! About a block from the San Diego Zoo and close to Hillcrest and North Park happening areas. Can be at most places in under 15 minutes with easy highway access. Coronado and Downtown in ten minutes and the beach in 15 minutes. Walking in Balboa Park right next door.
