A marvelous find..
It's a given that the location and view are ideal. But what really impressed me was the warmth and house-pride that the place reflected. Thank you for that, Oscar.
The place was amazing. I happened to stay during a Nor’easter, but the place was cozy and even with the days long storm raging I felt safe and in comfort. I can’t wait to stay again. Thanks Oscar!
Relaxing vacation in magnificent setting
Wonderful private area. The deck overlooking the ocean reminds me the wonders available to us. The small house is lovely. Obviously Oscar has invested quite a bit to make the house welcoming to visitors. The walk to the beach was great for my dog and myself, a little long for my husband who has back problems I didn’t understand the circular stairway to the basement but it looked pretty. All in all I wouldn’t hesitate to go again
Waking up to the glorious view of the sun rising over the bay was one of the highlights of our trip! The house is comfortable and has everything you need for a pleasant vacation. Mr. Bookins was easy to work with, communicating to check on us via text, but never intrusive. And the home is a great base for day trips to the cape and Boston, as well as beautiful Plymouth. Thanks so much!
Literal Nightmare Arrival
I arrived at the property around 11:00 pm with my son and two daughters. The area was dark and there was construction equipment everywhere. We completely missed the house because it was so dark. We finally arrived and unloaded the truck and we had to use flashlights to find the property. When we opened the door, we immediately began to turn on lights. The back was well lit, but the front wasn't lit at all.
There were pillows on the bed in the master bedroom but none on the other bed. We looked in the closet and the extra pillows we found had what looked like blood and were stained a brownish color without pillow cases. I asked my son to go down the stairs to see if there was anything down there and all he found was a giant hole in the wall, insulation pulled out and the hole completely uncovered.
I walked to the door to walk out back and saw a note saying "please use other door, lock is broken and has been ordered from Italy"
When I originally made the reservation, I explained to Oscar that the reason for this trip was that this had been a very traumatic year for my daughter and that safety was THE MOST important factor in determining where we stayed. With the above mentioned factors, neither my children or myself felt safe. I sent a message to Oscar stating the facts mentioned above and requested a refund. I started looking for another hotel in the area for the next 3 nights.
Add all that with the fact that it was 90 degrees and the air conditioner wasn't working properly and my daughter, who had fallen asleep on the couch, woke up at around 1:30 screaming because there were 2 bugs crawling on her face, we quickly packed up the truck again.
Angela may have had a nightmarish experience but that was not induced by my property. If she were concerned that her children were emotional wrecks before getting to my property one would have thought she'd have timed her arrival at my property well before the dead of the night or telephoned and indicated her concerns and had us leave lights on. The property was available to her from early afternoon. Further, I had provided my phone number in advance of her arrival and instructed her to call me if any problems arose; never did and had moved out by the time I got her email. She afforded me no opportunity to address any of her concerns. Others should note that no guest preceding or succeeding her noted any of the property's alleged defects as game changers. Had she or her son never seen a crawl space entry in a basement? Bugs? Aren’t mosquitoes de rigueur for coastal areas this time of year? The damaged lock on 1 of 3 doors onto the deck meant it could NOT be opened by an intruder; the other four doors remained perfectly functional.
I regret Angela did not contact me by phone with her concerns and fears when they arose.
