About Rick Aquino

My name is Rick and my wife's name is Barbara. I have been a business owner for over 25 years, and my wife as an elementary school teacher. We purchased this property (brand new construction) in December 2015. We did not want to just buy any property in Marathon, but one where memories and dreams will be made. We selected paint colors and furniture to make it a very Keys feel. This home has amazing views of the Atlantic with beautiful waves and calming air. We continue to build memories in our Seas The Day paradise, but most of all we hope you share your memories and dreams with friends and families.

All Good!

  • 5 of 5

We have so many good things to say about this property that folks reading this are going to think we are relatives! Dealing with the owner, Rick, was smooth as silk. He was friendly, timely and respectful. He took care of minor items quickly and we only had a couple of minor items.

The house is in a perfect location. With sweeping ocean views along with a lovely swimmable lagoon the house is in a great space. Convenient to Marathon and Islamorada so shopping was easy. Yet the little neighborhood felt intimate and there were some very friendly and helpful neighbors. The immediate region around the lagoon were perfect for kayaking and snorkeling.

Immaculate would be the best word to describe the house. And well appointed so that meals were easy and keeping the home tidy was not a chore. The linens and towels were upscale and there were plenty of various cooking tools. Having a full sized washing machine and dryer, having a dish washer made living simple and convenient.

The upstairs awning was a victim of the hurricane but there is ample room with table and chairs under the house in order to be outside, yet in the shade. And the upstairs balcony was great for evening relaxing. There were several hoses which made it easy to take care of our saltwater covered toys.. We had equipment that needed rinsing frequently and the hoses helped a lot. An outside shower and a fish cleaning table completed the scene.

We did have two kayaks and used the boat lift to store them. That made it very convenient and avoided having to take them out each time we were out in them.

Extra special was the somewhat routine visits from manatees in the lagoon. As far as fishing the lagoon, I fed more fish than I caught but this speaks to my lack of skill! There are mangrove snappers and the occasional snook in the lagoon. Just not on the end of my line.

We are grateful that Rick allowed us to stay here. We felt at home and we were very comfortable. We will be back! And thank you!

Fisherman's Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We come to the Florida Keys every single year -- this is hands down the best rental house we have had. This is fisherman's paradise. You're on the ocean and can be in the gulf in about 3 minutes. You are < 23 miles by boat to all 3 of the "Humps" fishing areas that the Keys are known for. To accommodate the fisherman, Rick has a commercial-grade icemaker and a deep freezer for your bait in a nice sized room downstairs. Easy loading/unloading of the boat when everything is in that room. Also there's a boat lift so you can keep the scum line off of your boat. Any other time we leave our boat in the water for a week, pull it out and have to get it detailed. Theres a fish-cleaning station and hoses ready. We couldn't have asked for anything more except for better weather. 20 MPH winds kept us in-shore, but we had a blast! When I say that we caught 200 snapper off of the dock in the backyard, that is no exaggeration. Friendly neighbors brought us fresh bait and gave us tips on fishing/lobster spots. There's a beautiful island just on the other side in the gulf called Channel Key....I popped the question there to the lady on this trip--she said yes. A most memorable vacation.I can't wait to stay here again!! Did I mention that the house is less than 2 years old?? Rick, thank you for having us.

Clean - Quiet - Relaxing - Boater Friendly

  • 5 of 5

House was clean and fully furnished for everything needed for a relaxing stay in the Florida Keys. Rick was very responsive and helpful in making our stay perfect. If you like the fish or navigate the crystal clear waters in your boat this place is perfect! The boat lift is only steps from the back door, fresh water hook up for washing down your boat and reels, filet station for your fresh catch, Ice maker to fill your ice boxes and coolers, deep freeze for your catch and not to mention the schools of Mangrove Snapper that are easily caught while relaxing at the Tiki Bar!!! The only thing that could of made our stay better was more time.......

Perfect inbetween to Marathon and Islamorada

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location to set up camp for exploring both the northern and southern chains by boat AND car. We trailered our boat down and slipped it in the water across the street. When waters are calm it's only a quick jaunt south to Marathon, a couple more minutes up to Islamorada. Boat lift makes life pretty easy! Tons of fish and a manatee make their home in the cove.

Rick was very hospitable and provided a good deal of info for the surrounding area. Plenty of space to spread out inside if the weather turns sour. Ice maker kept our coolers full of cold beverages the whole week. All appliances are new and the tiki hut is the perfect place to start your morning with a sunrise and a cup of coffee or relax after a sun filled day on the water.
