The Mt. Baker Garden Apartment
Our home, a light-filled 1916 Dutch Colonial, now offers a fresh, private 775 square foot guest apartment complete with living room, kitchen, bathroom, and access to the covered porch overlooking the garden. This is a spacious 1 bedroom unit with separate areas to sleep up to 5.
You'll enter on the left side of the house by the garage and large tulip tree, one of the largest in Seattle. The stairs lead down to a private daylight basement apartment. As you enter, you'll have space to hang coats and remove shoes, and a cozy sitting area with a trundle day bed that can be used for two twins or a king size bed.
Enjoy your breakfast and prepare your meals in the fully stocked kitchen. After a busy day of sightseeing or visiting friends, unwind with a glass of wine in this cozy nook. Through the hallway you will pass a full bath and enter the living room. In the living room, enjoy movie night with the large internet TV (Netflix, Hulu) or catch up on work at the laptop table provided.
Finally, relax in style in your sunny bedroom overlooking the garden. Here you'll find a queen bed, dresser, dimmable lights, TV and large, bright windows facing the back yard. (Back yard is reserved for family use only). Enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine on the shared covered porch overlooking the garden. Our neighborhood is just a short walk down the street to Mt. Baker Beach.

This home is in a great location in the Mt. Baker neighborhood. It's 3.5 blocks from Lake Washington and Mt. Baker Beach (a sandy beach swimming area with a lifeguard and fishing pier in the summer), a 15 minute walk from the Mt. Baker Light Rail Station, and you can be at Pike Place Market in half an hour by hopping on the downtown bus that passes right in front of the house - the stop is just a block away.

Our home sits at the top of Dose Terrace in the Mt. Baker neighborhood, the first planned neighborhood in Seattle. With beautiful Olmstead Brothers parks, views of Mt. Rainier and Lake Washington, it's very easy to fall in love with Seattle from this vantage point. In fact, one of the brick pillars from the original guard house gates sits on the corner of our property.
The historic homes are beautiful, and the Mt. Baker Community Club offers classes and fun programs to the public. Check them out for yoga, pilates or Zumba just a 10 minute walk away.
You can walk to fine dining like That's Amore, or opt for one of 3 walkable coffee shops in the neighborhood. Heyday is a great addition to the neighborhood - a wonderful gourmet burger place nearby.
Cafés and restaurants are just a 10 minute walk or a very quick drive away.
If you're driving, you'll find easy street parking in front of the house. Downtown is just a 15 minute drive, and Bellevue is about 20 minutes away.
If you prefer public transit, light rail is a 15 minute walk and several buses serve the house. The 14 bus goes to downtown, and the stop is one block away. Another bus serves the U District and is down a hill about 3 blocks away. Uber is a quick and affordable option to downtown as well.
Other Things to Note
Please book our property with the understanding that this is our home. Our primary residence is upstairs, and we have two young children. Although great efforts have been taken to make the apartment soundproof, it is likely that you may hear us upstairs walking in the living room. Also, our laundry area shares a wall with your apartment, so you may hear white noise from the washer or dryer running during the day or early evening. All of our bedrooms are on the top floor, so you are unlikely to hear anything after 8:00 at night. Thanks for understanding.
We are happy to make a pack n play, high chair, games and kids' toys and books available for your use while visiting. Miss your crock pot or Instant Pot? We have some to share! Just let us know what you need when you book with us and we'll have it waiting in your apartment.
Although we would love to meet you, we work full time so we aren't sure if our paths will cross. If you see us upstairs, feel free to say hi!
Please remember that you will be staying in a home, not a hotel. Therefore, we ask that you treat our space with the same respect you would show your own. We travel often and have help managing guest services for our home while we are away or busy.
You will have a keyless entry code for the door based on the last four digits of your phone number, and you can self check-in anytime after 3:00 on check-in day. Our apartment is new (Sept 2016) and we use a professional cleaning service. Smoking is not allowed in the apartment or on the property. We do not recommend our unit for smokers.
