Cabaña frente al lago, a 2 millas de las playas del sur de RI

Entorno privado que bordea 1500 acres continuos de tierra preservada, a poca distancia del Santuario de Aves Kimball y el Parque Estatal Burlingame. Con vistas a 575 acres de Watchaug Pond - fabulosa zona para pescar, hacer senderismo, bicicleta de montaña y calle. Justo en John Vincent Gormley Trail y senderos interconectados de Burlingame State Park. Corto viaje en automóvil a Misquamicut, East Beach, Charlestown Beach, Narragansett y la Universidad de Rhode Island. Un poco más en coche a Newport. A menos de una milla del parque Ninigret: lanzamiento de kayak de agua salada, canchas de tenis, parque infantil y observatorio, sede del festival anual de mariscos, Rythmn y Roots Festival.


Construido en 1954 y mínimamente actualizado, cabaña simple con todas las comodidades del hogar: cocina totalmente equipada, lavavajillas, máquina de hielo, cafetera, olla de langosta. Sábanas y toallas bajo petición. TV con cable básico fuera de temporada, cable extendido durante las primeras semanas - reproductor de DVD, bajo demanda. Solo estamos equipados con Wi Fi durante los primeros meses.

The host was a great communicator--quick to respond to messages, clear in instructions about getting in, etc. The listing is pretty accurate, but tall people need to note that the door frames and some sections of the ceilings are low--my 6'3" husband did a lot of stooping. The place could use a good cleaning, but that may be because it's the end of the summer season and perhaps they've had a lot of guests. Nothing was really clean. We had to rewash any pot we used, for example, and there was just generally a lot of dust and grime plus several large stains on the living room carpet.

Perfect Location

It is a wonderful home. Impeccably clean! Located across from huge lake. Stocked incredibly just bring yourself and food. Host communication is excellent eexcellent.

Wake up to birds and lake view, cross the street and swim, lunch, drive ten minutes to beach, grill some fish caught on the breechway, watch the sunset, rinse and repeat. I’m already dreaming about next summer here!

Our stay was almost like home

A very pleasant stay with great views. A great space for a visit from local family & grandchildren. We were in our hometown for my class reunion held only 5 miles from this VBRO… it was so very convenient! Beautiful sunsets and sunrises right out the porch windows….. very relaxing. Just about everything you would need is there. We left you a 2qt pitcher as we needed one but are stocked with them at home. It was a good trip!

Stars Forever

Our stay on Sanctuary Road was just about perfect. The location was great; especially sunsets on the pond. Swim beach on the pond was warm, with no sand. We love both Charleston and Blue Shutters beaches. The house was equipped with everything we could want or need. The best part tho was the nights when the sky was clear. There’s a lot of stars in that sky! Also, if you fill the bird feeder, you will be rewarded with bird sightings!

Another wonderful stay

We’ve stayed at Liz & Todd’s place several times over the years & we absolutely love it. We cook/grill almost all of our meals & have always had everything we’ve needed. Liz & Todd are very responsive & kind. The property is always very clean & well maintained. The pond access across the street is just perfect for cooling off & relaxing. We often spend the days floating on the water. This year we brought kayaks & paddled in the pond as well as went to Quonnie Pond. The cottage is quiet & peaceful & definitely has everything you need for a restful vacation.

Relaxing and peaceful

The location was great! We kayaked on the lake, walked the dog on different trails (loved the Ocean View just past the Kettle Pond Visitor Center), and used the beach pass daily. The house was dated but better than the pictures and better than what we expected when we booked so absolutely no complaints!

Nice spot

It lacked the super clean feeling of a newer place, but it was pretty nice besides that. Nice beds, nice size, nice linens, nicely appointed kitchen (even though small and simple) and a great view of the lake. I loved the fire pit.

Relaxing, comfortable, quiet and serene

This was our first stay at this property. I must say the listing pictures do not do this place justice. It was cozy, comfortable, clean and well stocked with many extras. Fire pit and wood, grill, linens washer/dryer and a killer screened front porch to view the beautiful pond. It was perfect for us. I loved that we were on the Vin Gormley trail and that we could walk directly into Burlingame S.P. We found a lovely little beach that our dog thoroughly enjoyed. Down the quiet dirt road in the other direction was a boat launch and swim area. It was the most relaxing vacation we have had in a long time. The house is also in a perfect location to venture to Newport but away from the crazy beach traffic and crowds. We had such a lovely time!

Peaceful setting. Liked sitting on front porch, reading or crocheting. House overlooks the pond.

We had a nice stay. The grandkids really liked the bunkbeds, and playing board games. The home was well stocked with cleaning supplies and paper products. We brought our own, not knowing what was there but didn't even need to bring laundry detergent because there was plenty already. Make sure to bring your own condiments, etc, but there is a Walmart about 10 minutes away to purchase food and supplies. The beaches were in close proximity, most within 10-15 minute drive. We purchased a State beach pass online because the beach pass provided by the owner is only good for the Charlestown town beach. We wanted to experience all of the nearby beaches, so it was worth purchasing the pass(its good for the entire summer season). House is located on a dirt road directly across from the "pond", which is really the size of a lake. There is a boat ramp nearby and would be a great place to kayak, etc. The road had a lot of potholes which did make it difficult for bicycle riding, but in all fairness we arrived less than a week after the hurricane, which was also why the state park was closed for cleanup of fallen trees, etc. We had a nice campfire on our last night in the fire ring provided, roasting marshmallows and star gazing.

Great Lake access

My wife and three kids( 6,5,4) had an awesome time at the house. Great access to a clean lake right across the street with a beach down the road. Could probably spend the whole week at the lake but also has a beach pass to the town ocean beach was an unexpected bonus! Well stocked and we needed nothing to be comfortable and have relaxing vacation. Thanks for having us!

We both grew up summering in the area and have deep roots and lots of family in the area. We have an unimproved cabin on property nearby where we stay in the summer and spend our time in this cottage in the winter.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

The lakes on the north side of Rt 1 in South County are glacial kettle holes - in the glacial morraine - it is a very special place with beautiful pristine beaches nearby. Watchaud Pond is clean and surrounded by preserved land. Charlestown is very un-commercial - we love the peacefulness year round.
