Location, location, location. In the summertime, the open terrain becomes some of the best hiking and biking trails on the North Shore. You can access the trails at the home and go for miles. All the roads in the neighborhood dead end at trail heads. North National Park is walking distance to the house and offers Frisbee golf, ball fields, snowmobile rentals and much more. The Lake at Kings Beach is 2.5 miles away and has boat and kayak rentals. White, sandy beaches will remind you of being in Hawaii. Shopping and entertainment are here with casinos 3 miles away that will satisfy your thirst for nightlife. Crystal Bay Club is known for their music venues, and Cal Neva for their spa services. There is an abundance of restaurants and shops scattered up and down Kings Beach that will cater to your daytime or evening dining fancies.

In the wintertime… you are in the middle of the North Shore with easy access to the ski resorts. You are 10 minutes to the entrance of Northstar which offers a great all-around skiing mountain, along with a beautiful village with ice skating rink, shops and restaurants. Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley are minutes away and there is a short cut which eliminates dealing with traffic in Tahoe City. Diamond Peak and Mt Rose are 20 min away and offers less expensive skiing with specials and family pricing. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing are literally out the back door…and for those adventure enthusiasts, there is a multitude of snowmobiling rentals as close at 2 miles from the house.

This chalet style home with loft is great for large families or groups of friends. It has an open floor plan with 22ft ceilings with large windows looking out to the forest. Located in a quiet pocket of homes surrounded by forest land, you'll see more people out walking than cars driving by. All the roads dead end at trail heads that the forestry service maintains which allows unlimited hiking and biking in the summertime. In the wintertime, the front yard becomes a nice sledding hill for the kids. In the summertime, the kids will love playing in the meadow, and the hiking the trails

As you walk in front door, you are greeted by a large open living area called the 'Great Room'. In Tahoe we think cooking is a main hobby, so houses are built with open areas that comprise of the living, kitchen and dining room. You can cook and socialize at the same time.Your family or group will enjoy the spacious living area with sectional, scattered ottomans, and a wood burning stove with brick hearth. This faces a large HD Smart TV with Dish satellite reception. The dining area has a 10 top timber trestle table with benches and is perfect for entertaining at. The kitchen, surrounded by countertops, and barstools, overlooks the dining and living area, with lots of counter space and large enough to accommodate a number of chefs. The kitchen has another table in it with barstools, and ample cupboard space with all the amenities you may want or need during your stay. Off the dining area is a sliding glass door that exits out to a sunny wrap-around deck. The deck has just been remodeled with expansions and wrap around seating. Its great in both winter and summer. The deck and house sits low off the street, so you have privacy with a nice yard, and a meadow behind the house. Patio furniture and barbecues make the summertime outdoor activities worth looking forward to. Off the side yard is deck with forest views and separate deck with Hot Tub. You can soak in the tub for hours, enjoying the meadow views.

Down the hall from the living area, is a full bathroom, laundry room and two bedrooms. One room has a queen bed , TV, and has a sliding glass door that exits out to a private deck with a view that looks out to a the meadow the house sits on. The other bedroom, has a pillow top King size poster bed, TV, and meadow views.

Up the stairs are two more enclosed bedrooms, and a loft. The Master bedroom is large and has a King bed, and twin bed, TV/DVD and bathroom. The high A framed beam ceilings, and the triangle windows above the bed really makes this room special. At night you can see stars, and in the morning you can see the colors of the sky's sunrise. Off the Master is a alcove with twin bed, and another full bathroom with skylights. The loft is adjacent to this with 2 twin beds, TV,and doubles as a game room. There is a full size foosballs table that is a hit for children, and extra room to play cards etc. There is also a private 4th bedroom here with a queen bed and TV which shares the high beam ceilings, and towering windows.

Each room has a TV and is unique with European style bedding with 300 count sheets, extra pillows, plisse, bed throw, memory foam toppers and window coverings to give you the charm and comfort you'd expect from a mountain home. The furnishings compliment the 'Pine Lodge' decor. The open areas and high ceiling ,allow you to socialize with family or friends, without feeling closed in.

The house has all the amenities of home and more. Coffee service is provided for your first morning here. The furnishings are user friendly with plenty of seating for your family and friends. High ceilings with large wooden beams, triangle shaped windows, and mountain decor compliment the 'Tahoe' feeling. The location and amenities of this home makes this a great vacation home year-round.

Please note. The pictures were taken by a professional photographer who used a wide angle lens to view more of the different rooms which VRBO recommends.

Why owner/property manager chose Tahoe Vista

Lake Tahoe has been my playground for 20 years. With all the traveling I’ve done, there is nothing compared to the amenities and beauty the Tahoe basin has to offer. I purchased my first home here in 1992 and decided to share it with others when not in use. I now have many 5 and 6 bedrooms homes I offer for your enjoyment. Each have hot tubs, most with pool tables and in locations that allows easy access to the Lake and Ski resorts. They were purchased for vacation rentals and are designed to be user friendly with all the amenities of home. I have a full time staff that includes cleaning, maintenance and will respond within 24 hours for all your needs. Feel free to call me about my other homes, or to just to discuss the perfect ski run on the perfect day.

What makes this house unique

Love the location and all the hiking around the house. You can wake up, get a cup of coffee and walk right from the house to one of the many trials with lake views. A total Tahoe experience.

The neighborhood is surrounded by tall pines and unlimited hiking trails, yet Kings Beach with restaurants and shopping is right down the street. Great Lake front restaurants and always something to do. The casinos are 3 miles away with gambling, music and spa services.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks Sandy for accommodating my family. It was a pre-Christmas present that we will always remember. The cabin was really comfortable and loved the open living area and found the beds and bedrooms great. Kitchen was well stocked ( thanks for 2 coffee makers ) and enjoyed sitting at the dining table playing games. Kids used the sledding hill often, adults enjoyed watching them!

We hope to return sooner than later.

The home sits on a meadow and the roads dead end at trail heads. Tall pine trees with sights and smells surround the houses and the quiet sound of birds and the wind blowing through the trees is intoxicating. Located in the middle of the North Shore, there is easy access to any event or place you want to drive to in the Tahoe basin. The Kings Beach down the street fells like l being in an Hawaiian cove. Shallow water is safe for children and lifeguards line the beach. The State Park at Kings Beach has BBQ grills and picnic tables on the shoreline with lots of parking. In the wintertime, Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, Northstar, Diamond Peak, Mt Rose are all within 20 min to the house. Super easy access to all, with short cuts eliminating traffic to most. Enjoy skiing at a different resort everyday. The house is clean and well maintained. Many guests come back yearly and refer others to my homes.

The guest house was a fantastic place for us to spend a few days! It is perfectly located for exploring the region, including Emerald Bay, Squaw Valley and Incline Village. Great fishing and golf is less than 10 minutes away. The house is clean, comfortable, quiet and outfitted with everything you need to have access to the comforts of home. Sandy was exceptionally kind and welcoming and we really appreciated her hospitality, including early check in. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you -The Stewarts

Spacious home as described

  • 4 of 5

The home fit our needs and was just as described, we had a lot of fun. We did have to go buy some essentials that are typically available in other rentals I’ve stayed at, like toilet paper, tin foil, etc but otherwise it was great

Owner's Response: Im glad you enjoyed the house and had a good time. I get a lot of repeat tenants here who enjoy the comforts of this home. I provide all the basic essentials. 2 rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom, 1 roll paper towels, trash bags, laundry soap. dishwasher soap, body wash etc. I ask the maids to leave the extras such at tin foil, seasonings, wax paper that tenants may leave, but I don't provide that. There is a large Safeway close to the house to purchase anything you may run out of and need during your stay.

the house does not look anything like the pictures

  • 2 of 5

We stayed here for a family reunion and was was shocked at the condition the house was in. The place definitely needs some upgrades and a MAJOR cleaning. Bedsheets in upstairs room still had hair from another visitor. Everything seemed a little grimy. Towels seemed washed but air dried due to the roughness, extra blankets had a musty smell that made you feel like not using them, utencil had a film on them so we washed/scrubbed by hand and the list could go on. We had some friendly visitors (two dogs) which were cute but a couple of us began to have major allergy attack because we are assuming other guests may have let these pets in. We had dog hair on our socks. The pictures are deceiving and what looks like granite countertops are laminate, furniture is falling apart, sliding doors don't lock, screen doors falling off, hot water runs out. Definitely not worth the money.

Owner's Response: I’m disapointed the house didn’t live up to this reviewers expectations.. I have more pictures and description than most homes advertised on VRBO to help you make the right decision for your vacation. The most popular comment I receive in my reviews is how clean the house was upon arrival so I find this “anonymous” reviewers comments odd. I use a 5 star cleaning company that caters to only higher end homes. The house is typically cleaned a day before tenants arrival and my property manager checks the house after each clean. None of the linens or towels are used in the house from a previous tenant. All the beds are changed with clean linens including any beds not used. All the towels are washed and dried in the washer/dryer not hung to dry, and dishes are washed in the dishwasher. This house is located in a quiet, super friendly neighborhood with super friendly dogs that may visit when welcomed. The only way dog hairs could have been on their socks, is if reviewer let the dogs in. The cleaning company sweeps and mops the floors each clean and dogs are only allowed in the house with a pet fee. The countertops are not granite and were resurfaced 2 years ago. They are unique, hand done by a local artist and cost more than a granite counter top. All the windows and sliders have either locks or sticks in the door and some, both. Couch was new 6 months ago and furnishings are checked between tenants. The hot water heater is large enough to accommodate a typical group’s usage. This home has lots of charm and personality with many repeat tenants that look forward to being in the mountains. The furnishings, countertops, decor, neighbors and occasional dog visit typically compliment a guest stay here.

Seamless rental experience

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience. The location and building matches the description on VRBO very well.

Overall, the setting felt private but not isolated. The views and neighborhood were lovely. We found the whole cabin incredibly clean and had more than enough room for the 10 of us. The instructions about the cabin and area was very helpful; we were easily able use all the amenities and find day excursions within easy distance. We enjoyed the hot tub immensely.

The kitchen was very nicely outfitted, particularly with both tea and coffee makings. We made most of our meals at home by choice. Nice open living area with wood stove and big windows was well used. The kids LOVED the loft..and the adults loved having a separate area for them. The kids spent the days playing foosball and had no problems sleeping during the night while the adults stayed up playing cards.

Do have to comment on the beds: very comfortable. We appreciated having access to the property manager who lives a block away. She met us upon arrival and offered her assistance if needed. Very impressed with the beauty of Lake Tahoe and our stay here.

A great get away.

This house is in the middle of the Northshore and has easy access to all Lake Tahoe has to offer. 1.5 miles from the highway, getting around the Tahoe Basin is effortless. The drive around the Lake is breathtaking and you'll enjoy the different little towns that surround the Lake. . The house is in a quiet pocket of homes just up from the Lake at Kings Beach .All the homes here sit on a meadow with tall pine trees, and roads dead end at the hiking trails. Winter and summer they are used and maintained by the forest service. It borders the Tahoe Rim trail which is a destination for some with endless hiking trails you can access from the house. Brockway Summit is well know for its path to Tahoe City, and Watson Lake is worth hiking too. You can walk in the summertime to our neighborhood park, North National Park. The park encompasses approximately 124 acres of predominantly active recreational activities. An 18 par fitness course, ball fields, Frisbee Golf, playground are just a few options. In the wintertime they offer a nice sledding hill for tubing and snow fun. Within 20 min to all the ski resorts on the North Shore, Northstar in the closest and newest village. The village was modeled after Beaver Creek Colorado...cobblestone sidewalks, copper roofs and a multitude of restaurants and shops that line the 'square'. The square is an ice skating rink in the wintertime and roller skating in summer. The bon fire pits and outdoor bars are always there. Its a wonderful setting to hang out at especially at night. Skiing here is family orientated with lots of ski programs for all ages, and a pristine mountain that keeps a good grasp on good snow conditions. If your staying a week, I highly recommend taking advantage of the other resorts also. A bonus is from the house you can drive the back way to Alpine and Squaw Valley which will eliminate the morning traffic through Tahoe City. Both mountains have tons of excellent skiing, and mountain biking in the summertime. MT Rose is where to go for open terrain, Diamond Peak for kids and an easy day skiing. Both are 15 min to the house. In the summertime, Kings Beach just down the street is a State Park with lifeguard and lake toys to rent. The beach is the highlight with wide sandy beaches, and views you have to experience to appreciate. There are also smaller beaches up and down the strip for reading a book, and dog beaches for your loved ones. Brockway golf course in Kings Beach is a must for those that just want a good time. One of the top 9 hole courses in California, its known for its yardage and views. In the wintertime the course becomes a snowmobiling park. Tahoe City is 12 miles away and offers another nice city with shops, restaurants and outdoor venues. The Truckee River is our playground for fishing, river rafting, and bike baths to view all. A nice day is renting your bike in Tahoe City and riding to River Ranch. This is a river front restaurant with large outdoor patio at the entrance to Alpine Meadows. Here is where the river tours end and usually where the rafts have issues. You can spend the day here watching the rafters and enjoying their menu and drink. Between the location , amenities of the house, and your favorite family or friends, you'll have a great home to stay at while getting a true Lake Tahoe experience.
