  • Beautifully furnished scenic getaway

"My family and I enjoyed our Thanksgiving holiday in this wonderful retreat, just hours outside of DC. Waking up to the rolling hills of West Virginia provided much needed respite from the city. The well appointed kitchen and charcoal grill allowed to cook and share our meals together. Highly recommended!"

  • Perfect Weekend at Woodland Gem

"My family of 4 and another family of 4 booked the Woodland Gem together. We have children ranging from 16-6. The cabin is very spacious. Plenty of room for us to spread out but we also had plenty roomy when we were all together in the living and kitchen areas. The kids LOVED running and playing outside around the deck. Adults enjoyed the hot tub. We took a drive up to snowshoe mountain - views are so pretty. Driving out of Slaty Fork Farm is also very pretty. After returning from Snowshoe, we went for a hike around the cabin. It is great hiking but there are no trails that we could find. Be sure to bring the appropriate attire. We hiked down to the stream that you can hear from the cabin. Kids were able to come but they struggled with some of the steep hills. The 2nd night we were there it was so clear. The stargazing was just wonderful. We could see the milky way from the hot tub and deck area. Our son was in heaven and took some great pictures. If we do this type of trip again I would definitely return to Woodland Gem and HIGHLY recommend! One thing I would like to stress is that you will NOT have cell service one you pull onto Slaty Fork, so be sure you have the detailed directions. We drove our car but we did bottom out a couple of times. 4 wheel drive would be a MUST in the winter....but a car will do as long as there is no snow - just go slow. Amanda is fantastic to rent from! Communication was spot on. In addition the rental is very clean and one of our favorite things was that there were plenty of towels. We were in and out of the hot tub quite a bit and it was nice to be able to grab towels and not have a shortage. We also enjoyed the kitchen and washer and dyer."

  • Exactly as listed. Cozy spot. Slopes are right out the door.

"Building is clean. Gives you the rustic feel of a true ski lodge. I wouldn't hesitate to rent here again."
