Absolutely wonderful property. Unique, beautiful, and very comfortable. This house has everything you need for a great vacation. This was our 1st experience with renting floating home and we had a fantastic time. Everyone enjoyed playing on the boats and riding the bikes that were supplied, as well as spending time on the hottub on the roof. It was an easy drive into San Francisco and right near Muir Woods.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your kindness. We really do like happy renters!

4 girlfriends on a weekend getaway, we loved our stay. The pictures are accurate yet don't capture all the charm, This was very clean, neat, nicely decorated, made us feel at home.. We are amazed at how quite it was, very relaxing and comfortable. The owner was accessable, helpful and gave us great tips for shopping (Mill Valley); restaurants Fish, The Trident and we liked Le Garage. We would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The house boat was accurately described and the listing photos accurately reflected what we found. The property was clean and well maintained. The beds were very comfortable. We would confidently recommend this as a place to stay. The owners were very helpful. The boat has lovely views from the lounge and one of the down stairs bedrooms to the west. The upper bedroom has a view north east across the water. The house boat is located near the end of the pier, which is good because you feel closer to nature, but you do have to walk the pier. In fact you will find this a treat with plenty of plants and all manner of house boats to look at. There are carts available for moving cases and supplies from the carpark. We used the house boat's canoe to visit the seal colony which is about 1/3 of a mile away. There is also a paddle boat available. Tomy's chinese is close by on Bridgeway and very good. There are a couple of other restaurants also close by. Access to downtown Sausalito is very good and the US Engineers model of San Francisco bay is within walking distance and although not well known should not be missed. The Mollie Stones supermarket is in walking distance as is a West Marine outlet for the nautically inclined.. Access to the freeway is excellent and the Napa and Sonoma Valleys an hour or so away. We visited Castello di Amorosa winery near Calistogo in the Napa Valley. The owner of the winery built a large castle and it is really worth seeing. Muir woods which is close by is also worth a look. Then there is San Francisco, you can drive, bus, you can drive and park in downtown Sausalito, or cycle and catch the ferry. Walking the Golden Gate is an essential part of the visit. There is a carpark on the right side of the bridge and a walkway underneath. This is easier than the other parking areas. Things can get very busy around the bridge later in the day so best go in the morning. If all this sounds too much you can just relax watching seals and birds go past your window or from the top deck or pontoon. For a unique relaxing break and change in lifestyle we could not recommend this vacation spot more highly.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Peter, Thank you for the kind review. Doing a house exchange with you has been a fabulous experience. We hope we can do it again. Thanks for leaving Bateau De Reve so clean and perfect for us. Michele and Gabor

I would just like to thank Michele for working with us through all our postal issues back home, and sticking with us until we finally had our deposit back. Long story short: Michele issued a return of our deposit on this adorable houseboat as soon as we checked out. Due to a miscommunication with the Post Office and our tenants, we lost about six weeks of mail, Michele's check included. We never recieved most of our mail back...but, Michele ultimately cancelled the origanal and re-issued a new one, for which we are forever greatful. We thought that showed great character...just like the houseboat! What a great time...Thanks MicheleOwner response: Dear Alan and Sandra, Thank you so much for the kind review. It was so wonderful getting to know both of you during your month long stay. PLease come back again and maybe next time we can trade homes since I love Florida!

We just returned from a fabulous month on Bateau De Reve., We were thrilled to have loved the houseboat and location so much. It was so comfortable, with all the amenities one can imagine. The owners thought of everything. It is bright, cheery and very clean. We enjoy the outdoors so having bicycles a canoe and paddle boat to use was so much fun for us. I would recommend this to anyone looking for beautiful surroundings and a wonderfully unique experience. You will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Wendy, hanks so much for your kind review. I look forward to your next monthly stay. Michele

Words can't describe how wonderful this houseboat was for our month stay. We loved the uniqueness of the experience. The decor was warm, inviting, and whimsical. The beds were very, very comfortable. And, of course the view from the living area, float, and upper deck. We could see the Oakland-Bay Bridge and the tip of San Francisco! We spent hours just soaking up the warm sun on the float - and that was in December. The restaurants and small shops near the docks provided easy access to dinners when we didn't want to cook. I would recommend this houseboat to anyone looking for a unique and pleasurable experience.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Vicki, Thanks so much for your kind review. I am grateful that I was there to meet you and your lovely friends. Thank you also for leaving the houseboat so tiday when you left. I will await your next monthly visit. Warm regards, Michele

The pictures and descriptions don't do this charming place justice. Everything was perfect and the house boat was well stocked with everything we could need. The decor was so charming and welcoming. It really did feel like a little home away from home. The owners checked in with us, by phone, upon arrival, to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction. They left suggestions and information about local attractions and restaurants that were spot on! This was a great week for our family with plenty of "space" when needed and lots to do. I wouldn't recommend it for smaller children or anyone with mobility issues since there are lots of stairs and a bit of a walk from the parking lot (the bonus is you are far out on the dock with lots of quiet and beautiful views.) Couldn't have been happier with lovely houseboat. What a treat!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I was delighted that this lovely houseboat lived up to its advertising. Just spent a wonderful week here. It was charming, bright, cheerful and clean with a pretty view and many amenities including a gourmet kitchen, sunny porch, comfortable bedrooms. It was a great base in which to visit the San Francisco area as well as a peaceful refuge for tired travelers. We looked forward to returning each night and spent several lovely mornings enjoying the sun on the floating deck. Will be recommending this place to others heading west. Thanks Michele and Gabor.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Eileen, Thanks so much for the fabulous review. I am happy that you chose our special paradise for your stay and hope that you come back again soon. Michele

This Houseboat is truly a home, very comfortable and clean, with great amenities. The view is spectacular, watching the fog creep in over the hills and a wonderful sunset every night. The location is better than oceanfront, more interesting to sit on the deck and look at the surrounding houseboats and watercraft. Helpful hint: The Jacuzzi takes a LONG time to heat up so plan ahead.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Dear Robert, Thanks for the kind review. We enjoyed having you and your family as guests. I am so sorry that the hot tub took a long time to heat up. The guests before you were not supposed to turn it off! You probably saw the sign saying "Please do not turn off hot tub". Again, I apologize for that. It is usually war all of the time. Please come back again soon. Cheers, Michele

We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. One of my sons really appreciated the canoe, paddle boat, and bicycle (not all at the same time). We showed off the houseboat to various family members in the area that we were visiting and they were all envious of our great accommodations. We prepared several meals, mostly breakfasts, and had everything we needed at hand. My other son and his fiance used the hot tub almost every night. It was a great experience and we'll certainly consider it the best option in future visits.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Oh Ken, Thank you for your kind review. You were an ideal guest and I hope you bring your family back again. I am especially happy that your son loved the boats that we provide at no extra charge. Next time we will have 2 kayaks also. Warm regards, Michele

About the owner: We are a couple in our 50's who enjoy travelling the world and experiencing life in different environments. Our Houseboats are filled with teasures that we have collected during our travels. Bateau de Reve has a French flair and we have her stocked with lovely glassware, dishes, high end pots and pans and quality linens since this is our home when we are in sausalito (at least 4 times a year). Michele is a gourmet chef so the kitchen offers everything you need to make a fabulous meal!
Why the Owner Chose Sausalito:
We bought this as our home to live in forever but now we share her with others only while we are travelling.
The Unique Benefits at this House Boat:
The views are magical, they change hourly as the tide comes in and out and as the fog rolls in and out. We are located in a very sought after location on the dock in deep water. The decks offer ample outdoor space to enjoy the sun and the boats. Each bedroom has it's own level which offers the ultimate in privacy when the houseboat is full. The bathrooms are spacious and cheerful and the location is just perfect.
