Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2005

Bequia and I are fortunate enough to be able to split our time between our home in Montana and our Sweet little place in Todos Santos.

Our lives have been based around running rivers as whitewater kayakers, rafters and canoeists, as well as telemark skiing and snowboarding. For many years we owned and operated a sailing charter biz in the Caribbean. We both enjoy training in Aikido, the martial art of Harmony... And of course we love to SURF!

We found everything we need here in Todos Santos... Come see it all for yourself at Maritas Casitas and experience a great and affordable Authentic Baja vacation :)

Why the Owner Chose Todos Santos

We first came here on vacation to surf and warm our Montana bones in the tropical sun, but we realized what a truly special place Todos Santos is. Perfect climate, incredible natural beauty, mountains and ocean everywhere you look, surfing, sea kayaking, hiking, sailing, whales, everything we could imagine...so we took a chance, followed our hearts and built a little place to live out our dreams...

The Unique Benefits of this Beach House, One of Two Units

Maritas Casitas is in a quiet peaceful area, just far enough out of town to feel away from it all, but still only a 10 minute drive...Only 300 yards to a wonderful deserted beach...A 5 minute drive to a world class surf break...Stellar ocean views from every window...amazing sunrises over the 7000 foot Sierra de la Laguna Mounbtain range...palm trees and cactuses...great neighbors and friendly locals... We think you will love it- we sure do!

    • Great casita at a good price. We stayed there a month in Dec/Jan '09. All the basics you need for a beach-oriented vacation - and friendly owners are a real plus. Close access for leisurely strolls on the beach to watch the whales in season - or from the balconey! Also opportunities to help release baby sea turtles. Or buy fresh fish directly from the fisherman and cook it up with fresh lime. We had a great time - I'm still dreaming about our trip!

    • My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon from 2/15/09 - 2/20/09. The drive from Los Cabos was easy - and definitely not one that I would do in the darkness. Todos Santos is a great town, and even on our lame remembrances of high school and some college Spanish courses we were able to do what we wanted with little to no problems. The place is awesome - both in terms of the space and location. Listening to the ocean crash on the shore was a wonderful way to fall asleep at night. Waking up with coffee and eating Cheerios Manzana Canela in the rising sunlight on the third level was pretty swell too. Unbelievable star-gazing. Reading and falling asleep in the hammock worked for me too. We ate out about 50% of the time and cooked in the other 50%. Unbelievable how many choices this little town has. Fresh produce at cheap prices was a plus. Great shopping all around. Not much night life, and after long days enjoying the sun, we happily went to bed early. Dealing with the owner and manager was like asking an old friend if you could use his place for the weekend. Oh yeah ... it's the desert! Don't overlook that fact.

Alan and Bequia, I hoped my first trip to Todos Santos would be full of peace, tranquility, lush scenery and intoxicating warmth. I soon discovered that is just the beginning. This place has been a lovely dose of magic beginning and ebding with Maritas Casitas. When I return home I wont be able to skip on what seems like my very own private beach, do rooftop?palapa yoga, satisfy my sweet tooth at Peace and Loaf, ogle surfer guys at Cerritos Beach or battle the "bumpy ass road :) But I am leaving refreshed, relaxed, full of magic, and a vow to return and learn to surf (well)... Gracias, Hasta Luega Maritas Casitas! Love, Heidi

Aldo and Co. Thanx for the great space. Weather was pretty much perfect the whole trip. Whale watching was fun and very relaxing as well as the beaches we visited. Food was phenominal and plentiful (so many choices). Our faves were Ataxcon for breakfast, just about everyday (90 pesos for 2 people. cheap chjeap cheap!) "Mi Costa" for seafood (not a lot of Gringos) and Tacos Barajas for tacos and La Paloma make their own ice cream bars, yum! Anyway, had a great time, back to Portland, til next time... Jen and Keith

Aldo, Bequia and Marita- What a treat to find a little home here with you and rest in your circle of warmth and calm. So many lovely sunrises and sunsets on the roof deck, whales glimpsed, green flash, waves splashing send me to sleep. And we learn to slow down to Mexico time- up with the sun, down with the sun. We so enjoyed your company and friendship- felt very at home. We look forward to seeing you again, Thanks so much for everything! Love, Chloe and Liam

    • Fantastic! Accommodations were low key and perfect for relaxing and getting away from the Cabo experience. The shower and bathroom was worry free and the outdoor shower was wonderful. The stars at night sitting on the patio were amazing. We stayed in early November 2008, so there weren't many whales, but we did see some; and the beach was marvelous for walking and the surf was calm enough to bob in. We bought seafood from the fishman one day and cooked up a delicious dinner. We wished we had stayed longer, next time we will!

Beautiful, gentle, warm sound of waves, soft swish of palm fronds. Helps calm the blood, balm to the soul. Friends and warmth, song and talk stretches time like the sand on the beach. A good place to rest, to replenish. Thank you!

    • We stayed at Casa Marita in February 2008 and it was a terrific get-away from our long winters. The house itself has everything one would need for a comfortable stay. We loved all the outdoor space - ground floor patio, upper floor patio...and the outdoor shower was a favorite! Also it was so nice to be able to see the beach from all rooms due to the many windows. The beach is gorgeous and there were lots of times we were the only ones there. Too rough for swimming though so don't try it unless you REALLY know what you're doing! It was perfect for just relaxing and having some quiet time. In January and February the whales are all over since they're making their way up to Alaska, so it was fascinating seeing them jump and frolic. The casita is far enough from town that it's quiet and relaxing; yet town is easily accessible with a 10-minute drive. There are some terrific restaurants, cafes and shops (and even a lovely wine bar) in town - "up-scalish". A man on a prominent street corner regularly sells high-quality organic produce he grows in his own garden. There are also some very modest local places to eat, at bargain prices. The locals are extremely friendly and kind. Casa Marita is a great retreat and we hope to return soon!
