Top of the line luxury 2 bedroom beachfront. It is furnished tastefully, with high quality furniture, artwork and top of the line appliances. If you are going to Cartagena, Bocagrande is the place to stay. Preferred method of inquiry is by phone. Please - NO SPAM INQUIRIES, SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY, your time and my time is valuable. While my typical renter desires the unit for 7 days or more, I will rent for shorter periods of time for near term bookings. Edificio Palmetto is centrally located in Bocagrande, just minutes west of the Old Walled City (World Heritage City) by taxi. This unit is one of the newest on the market, furnished with high quality furnishings, American queen size beds, pillow top mattresses, comfortable L-shaped sectional in living area. February, 2011 removed the stereo and replaced it with a Vizio blue ray player (for CD's and DVD's linked to 32' LCD wall mounted TV by HDMI cable. Cable TV in primary living room. Cable, Internet and Local Telephone Service. February, 2011 new Vizio blue ray and Vizio TV placed in one of the two bedrooms. Plays CD's and DVD's. Security safe in closet in one of two bedrooms. You are renting direct from owner, not an agent.
This new to market 17th floor unit is direct ocean front, ocean front view from the living room and both master bedrooms. No curtain in the living room as it opens onto a large balcony; custom made drapes in both bedrooms.
Unit has large refrigerator, microwave, over and 4 burners on cooking surface. Unit has NEW on demand hot water system and it works. Always inquire if you are looking at other units about their hot water systems. Both baths are full baths with shower. More than adequate dishes, utensils, pots and pans for those who want to cook. Washer and Dryer added to unit September, 2009. Local Phone and internet.
Cartagena is an incredible city. In fact, Colombia is an incredible country and its citizens are friendly and unassuming. Spanish is not a must, but is extremely helpful.
The recent film, Love in the Time of Cholera was filmed in Cartagena; years back, Romancing the Stone.
The old walled city allows one to wander for days, viewing incredible architecture, world class shopping and great restaurants. To get a feel for the real Colombia, visit the old city and surrounding areas. To the west (by boat) you will find an island chain that has incredible aqua marine water, perfect for snorkeling or just boating. Many tour operators run to the islands or you can do as I do and rent a boat and leisurely cruise the islands and visit a variety of beaches (Playa Grande, Rosario Islands).
I was fortunate several years back to visit Cartagena with natives of Colombia. I was enchanted not only by Cartagena, but by other cities I visited, including Bogota. A visit to Cartagena and a stay in my condominium/apartment will allow you to relax and return home with stories to tell. You will be compelled to return as soon and often as you can.
Should you stay in my unit, I will provide as much insight as I can about Cartagena, the surrounding community, the building and my unit.
The unit is not restricted to adults (although that is my preference) however, Cartagena is probably more for adults than children. I require photo id in the form of drivers license and passports from all occupants. As I rent my unit frequently, payment is due upon the making of reservation; minimum 7 days rental (for near term booking, will now rent for shorter terms - inquire). Arrangements for keys can be made in a variety of ways, depending upon where you are traveling from and time and date of arrival. Typically, I send keys to you prior to your departure from your home city.

Why the Owner Chose CartagenaI visited Cartagena with two wonderful friends, both Colombian. They actually took me to a number of cities in Colombia as well as introduced me to the wonderful people of the country. I found Cartagena to be interesting, the people warm and friendly and the weather incredible. On the property next to the hotel I was staying, a trailer was on site and the developer was advertising units for sale. I was fortunate that the real estate company that was marketing sales of the units to be build had one english speaking sales person, and I was able to negotiate a contract long distance with her assistance. I don't regret my purchase at all.
The Unique Benefits at this CondoFirst and Foremost, you are dealing with a thoughtful owner, one who in furnishing the unit and maintaining has considered the comfort of others who might later occupy it. Before and while at my unit, I am available to answer questions and guide you as best I can, either in preparation for your trip or while you are already on site. In the morning have coffee on the balcony as the sun rises or walk on 2nd to Juan Valdez Cafe (the Starbucks of Colombia). Juan Valdez is a great people watching place. The unit is furnished with high quality furnishings and has after my viewing of some other units in the complex the best furnishings in Palmetto, with the exception of the penthouse. Full size, not Colombia size queen beds, custom drapes from the United States, custom fabric from the United States for the living room sectional sofa, chairs for the beach, an umbrella for the beach, a wide array of towels for the chaise lounges at the pool. For those who go to the beach, beach towels and an umbrella you are free to take from the unit and use at the beach. Excellent building security and management and friendly staff. Bocagrande is the place to be (the Old City is to be visited but in my view is not the place to stay) and this unit is central to Bocagrande, on the beach and within walking distance to everything in Bocagrande.

We just finished one month at Steve’s apartment and enjoyed our time there immensely . The view from the 17 floor living room or balcony is great, it’s almost like being on a cruise ship. The sunsets are beautiful. Steve provides a packet of very helpful local information and contact numbers for Maria who is the administrator for his apartment. The building is very well maintained and the staff friendly. The location is close to everything and a short taxi ride to the old city.

I was very happy with my recent stay at this apartment in Cartagena. Probably about the best location you could ask for in this city. Walking distance to everything you need, nice pool, beach across the street. Steve was able to accomadate me on short notice as the place we had reserved fell through, what a blessing it really turned out to be. Steve goes out of his way to make this a turn key experience for visitors, right down to hand written directions to all the local shops. Excellent food, but buyer beware as even some of the smaller restauraunts are expensive, make sure you check pricing before you set down. The beach isn't overly crowded and for the most part the vendors won't bother you much after you settle in. All in all if your gonna stay here bring a change of clothes and thats about it, everything else can be purchased or its already in the apartment. A no hassle vacation. I recently traveled all of Colombia and this place was by far the easiest and most comfy. As far as the city goes I'm a little biased towards Medellin and Cali, but I'd definitely say it's worth at least one visit to check out the old city and do some sightseeing. The locals were friendly and I never felt out of place even once. Don't dress like a typical tourist and don't lug around expensive cameras and jewelry and you will be fine, I can name 100 places I've been in the US that are more dangerous IMO. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone who wants to travel to Cartagena. Property was well maintained and it matched exactly to what was advertised. It accommodated the four of us confortably. Location was great just minutes from all the historical areas, restaurants, entertainment and shopping. Owner very reliable and friendly and sent a package describing every detail from arrival to the end of the trip, it was certaintly very helpful. We were in Cartagena for a week and we didn't have a bad meal. Great food and good service, I will recommend Cafe Santo Domingo and Cande among many others. People in general very friendly and we felt confortable traveling to the different areas. If we were to go back to Cartagena, we will use this listing again; it was worth it.

The best location, within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and the beaches. The condo was stylish and relaxing. The owner provides you with all the information you would need to have a good time. The complex itself is very clean. The photos accurately reflect the unit. I recently traveled to Cartagena and had the pleasure of staying at one of the nicest modern buildings in Bocagrande.It has all you could ask for, location right on the beach, great amenties, helpful hospitality and outragous ocean views.The owner Steve was wonderful and very helpful answering all our questions, also sending a awesome package of information needed for a perfect getaway trip.This was my first trip to Colombia and most definetly will not be my last.We look forward to another stay at this condo, when traveling back to Bocagrande. I have visited Cartagena many times and have now had the pleasure to stay at Steve's apartment for the first time. The 2-bedroom apartment is in perfect condition and fully equipped with everything a traveler would need. In particular appreciated was the laptop with free internet as well as WiFi in order to connect your own computer. The view from the 17th floor is stunning and the building is centrally located in Bocagrande. Most important to mention: Steve is a great host. Helpful, friendly and reliable throughout the whole rental experience, from booking until the end of the stay. I will return for sure. Best regards from Switzerland.

My husband and I spent four days in Cartagena, stayed in this beautiful condo and absolutely loved it. Place is exactly as described on website, wonderful view of beach and very close to all activities (restaurants, bars, shopping, etc.). Owner was extremely helpful and provided us with very useful tips for the condo, Cartagena as well as surrounding areas. Our experience dealing with the owner was just perfect! I highly recommend this listing!
Owner response:Cecilia and her husband's trip was scheduled such that their arrival was one day prior to my departure date. I suggested to them that rather than locate another property to stay for one night that they stay at my property the first night there, without charge. They arrived, went to dinner and left a gracious note and a bottle of wonderful red wine (that I have saved from my next trip). We met only briefly after their return from dinner and they are a wonderful couple. They were re-visiting Colombia after an absence of many years.

Forget everything you've ever heard about Colombia, and go to Cartagena now! The city is the best of old and new that Latin America has to offer. The downtown walled city has been beautifully restored and many excellent restaurants and bars have opened there. Don't miss the bar on top of the old walls overlooking the Caribbean at sunset -- it's spectacular. There are so many fun things to do and explore and the people couldn't be nicer. We spent 6 days in this wonderful condo in June. The location is perfect with an incredible view of downtown. No car was needed during this vacation - a taxi ride was only $5 to everywhere we wanted to go, and there are always taxis available day and night. The condo is new and very well appointed with granite countertops and stone floors. We are well-traveled, but were surprised at how unique and amazing the pool area was. The pool is on the second floor overlooking the Caribbean, and has multiple waterfalls and depths within the pool so you can sit in a chair in the pool itself. Frequently we had this entire area to ourselves. There are two master bedrooms, both with large private baths. The terrace showcases spectacular sunsets, and has a sweeping view of downtown. It's the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine or a beer at the end of the day. There is also a wide-screen TV with cable and wifi so you can keep in touch with the outside world if you like (we chose not to). There is a well-equipped grocery store within walking distance and there are many restaurants and stores for shopping in the immediate area. Surprisingly, I found some of the best souvenirs at good prices in the Hilton Hotel in El Laguito nearby. I highly recommend this condo for a relaxing and memorable vacation, and hope to stay there again in the near future.

This was our first experience using VRBO for a Colombia destination. We chose listing #213395 - what a pleasant surprise! We’re a couple living in Manhattan NY. Having been born in Colombia, and leaving over forty years ago, I decided to visit Cartagena this past September. Not knowing what to expect after being gone from my country for so long, we arrived with an open mind. We were impressed to find everything as it was listed in the VRBO description. The apt was very clean, beautifully designed with comfortable furnishing, fabulous views, and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Our experience with the owner was terrific, professional and amiable. He made us feel at ease - as we were staying at a friend’s home. We had great time in Cartagena, and our stay at this property made it memorable.

Myself and a buddy rented this 2 bedroom condo last winter, and it turned out to be in the perfect location. We had never been to Columbia, so were a little worried on where to be...perfect spot!! The unit itself was excellant, the bedrooms were seperated by the kitchen, front room and dining area. There was a balcony that had a awesome view of the ocean and beach down below. It was furnished real nice, and all appliances were in excellant shape and easy to run. There was a grocery store a couple blocks away, so we bought our groceries and ate most our meals in the comfort off this condo. Would definitely stay there again when traveling to Cartagena.
