The Toucan Stay Inn (but 3 can't)

Besides being on a gorgeous tropical setting, TSI is the newest rental property closest to the beach. WE HAVE AIR CONDITIONING!!! and a laundry room, maid service and spa services on request. The Toucan Stay Inn (TSI) is merely steps away from Playa Punta Uva... rated one of the "Top 10 Natural Beaches in the World" (says Outsider Magazine 2001). In addition to that fact, steps away from great "eateries", a convenience store and a Dive Shop (Water Sports Center) for suba tours, dolphin watching boart tours, kayaking, fishing etc...who could ask for more?

You want howler monkeys...you'll hear them...and enjoy them...and maybe even have fun with them...at the beach. Quite often they hang out in trees and throw nuts down to you.

The bus stop is right on our corner...or you can just take leisure walks or bicycle rides towards Manzanillo (the end of the road...and the start of Gandoca/Manzanillo National Park)

Other area activities could include the Butterfly Garden, the Iguana Farm or Chocolate Making Tour.

Just relaxing in either the shade of a palm tree on the beach...or on your own screened in patio...on a hammock...can make either a sunny day or a rainy day enjoyable.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2006

I recently retired from the "fashion industry". I've toured Costa Rica since 1999, but truly fell in love with this area. Don't tell everyone about it, please. My Spanish is not that good yet (really horrible, in fact) but the Caribbean Coast has more English speaking population than the rest of the country...much due to Jamaican influence...so a mixture of Raggae, Salsa, Calypso, along with good old Rock N Roll is the music fare.

I couldn't have found a better location to retire. I walk down the path to the beach each morning, with a cup of the best coffee in the world, and end my day with a swim...then float on my back and watch sky change colors during the incredible sun set. I walk back to my cottage, pick a lime off one of my many fruit trees, then squeeze it into a tall glass of Flora De Cana (Rum) and Diet Coke. I love to walk...and the road to Manzanillo is just gorgeous. Snorkeling the Cove and kayaking either the "point" (punta) or the sleepy river that meets the beach are two favorite activities.
The nightlife in Puerto Viejo (8 miles away) is nice to have, but the privacy, fresh air and total "comfy" feeling of the Toucan Stay Inn (but 3 can't) is one of the greatest "pleasures" of my life.

Why the Owner Chose Punta Uva

In my eyes, The Garden of Eden couldn't have been much better. The natural beauty of not just my property, but the entire area is overwhelming to me. On the property we have limes, coconuts, pipas, guanabana, water apples, cashews, aki, anon, bananas and other fruits growing..along with some incredible flowering plants. The place is surrounded by hibiscus hedges...and 3 sets of wooden entry gates. Two one bedroom air conditioned very large studio rentals will also be available.
The variety of SOME OF THE BEST FOOD I'VE EVER EATEN is incredible, with several of them within walking distance and others just several miles away. Sushi, Thai, Italian, French, Caribbean, Argentinian...and of course, Tico (local) food are all offered. I keep a book listing TSI's recommended restaurants, along with menues. A convenience store (PULPERIA) is located just a stone's throw away. Saskia, speaks German,Enlish and Spanish, is a great gal with a marvelous attitude on things. So,she'll fix you up with beer, wine and your grocery needs.
