Why the Owner Chose Cedar Flat
If you have ever visited Lake Tahoe, the answer to this question should be self-evident. Tahoe, we think, offers the perfect blend of unblemished wilderness and measured development. Fantastic area for winter and summer recreation, or just relaxing and taking a break from the stresses and strains of everyday life.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Even when we toured the property, and certainly now as owners, our home really feels like home. And we think that guests will have that same feeling. We have rented many homes in Tahoe, and that is the one element that has been missing: we have always felt like intruders in some way, which of course interferes with the ability to relax and enjoy the vacation. We have really tried to make our home one in which we, and visitors, can quickly forget that they are staying somewhere other than what they are accustomed to. Our home is, all at once, comfortable and broken in. No need is unmet, and there is no feeling like one must walk on eggshells to avoid damaging a pristine environment.
Owner's Map of Cedar Flat
We are a family of six residing in Berkeley, CA with strong Bay Area roots and a true appreciation for all of the wonders of California. It has been our dream for some time to own a second home that our family can return to year after year, and we were fortunate enough to turn this dream into reality.

Great Cabin!

My wife and I (and 4 friends) recently stayed here for a few days over the holidays. This is definitely a "re-visit" cabin. It has all the cool rustic qualities you expect in a Tahoe cabin, with the bonuses of modern amenities. Want to cuddle up in front of the wood stove, and maybe take a dip in the whirlpool? No problem. Or, maybe you want to sit on the couch, watch some DVDs (a large selection already in the house), hook your ipod up to the Bose stereo, and use the cabin's computer to surf the web? You could do that, too. Overall, it's a great cabin with parking for about 4 cars, well appointed, and located in a great location (across the street from the lake, and close to all the North Tahoe ski resorts). We'll be back for sure. Maybe this time during the summer for a mountain biking trip...

The cabin is very cozy and comfortable. We (2 couples and 2 small dogs) enjoyed the hot tub and cooking in the kitchen. There was more than enough space for all of us. The cabin was clean and well-maintained and had the little touches to make it feel homey. Access to the lake was a plus. Doug was very prompt in his replies and answering any questions, and we felt that it was reasonably priced. All in all, we had a great time and look forward to a return visit!

We (a couple and a small dog) spent the last few days of summer in this Tahoe cabin. We had a fun and relaxing time and enjoyed coming home to the the cabin at the end of a hard day hiking and mountain biking. The house is well located for some fun and unexplored hikes as well as being close to food stores and restaurants. The cabin was very comfortable, and the master bedroom was particularly nice to wake up in every morning. The hot tub became quite a theme, especially given the requirement to ease our aching muscles! Also, since we do not have a television is was quite a novelty to have a TV complete we a good cable package! The only draw back was the road noise, but we assume it would be much quieter come snowfall. Overall, we had an enjoyable and comfortable visit and would recommend the cabin to all.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this lovely, cozy cabin. It is perfect for a family get away. There are lots of games, books, and videos for kids. The kitchen is great for cooking and has everything you need to make a meal. We loved sitting in the hot tub and enjoying the stars at night time. It was very peaceful and relaxing. Plenty of space for a family get away. Also, a great deal for the price. I would also recommend eating at the Wild Goose - great restaurant - excellent food and service. The only draw back is you can hear the traffic noise from the highway when you are outside but inside it is very quiet. Overall, it was a great experience and would come back again and recommend it to our friends. Thank you, Doug!

Our family truly enjoyed our stay here - the house and its location were great. We were looking for a dog friendly home to rent and the cabin was ideal. As a bonus, it has an HOA with lake access. This made it convenient to head down and enjoy the lake. The owner is extremely responsive, promptly answering all our questions and confirming the details - somthing I found important when renting. The cabin was clean and maitained - we would recommend it to anyone interested in a property on the North Shore.

You won't be disappointed with this beautiful lake retreat! The Fontain cabin is fully updated and tastefully decorated to reflect the casual outdoor vibe Lake Tahoe exudes. Centrally located, you're about 15mins or less from either Kings Beach or Tahoe City. There's a forest service access road right behind the development, which we explored on several outings. As avid hikers, we found plenty of trails that were essentially void of people. The TRT is close by and easily accessed. Not into hiking? The private dock and HOA beach is a perfect place to swim. Our Lab loved jumping off the dock! I appreciated the communal sharing of spices and condiments...I loved not having to lug my own salt/pepper, mayo etc from home! It's all there folks. We just resupplied what was low...what can be easier than that? The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, pots and pans, and every convenience you'd want in your own kitchen. As an avid cook, I didn't have a problem whipping up some pretty fantastic fare. I hope I didn't convince too many of you to book...I want this place to myself! Oh, did I mention Doug is a quick replier to emails? Can't say that of the other owners I inquired to..he had us at "hello". Thank you Doug and Lisa for your outstanding hospitality!

I've rented several cabins/houses from VRBO over the last several years and this by far exceeds all of them and is very affordable for what you get. The cabin is a great of mixture old (not worn down) mixed with new decor and appliances with lots of eco-friendly touches. The cabin is well stocked with supplies and linens and this is the first time I've seen beach towels offered, which is nice for the hot tub too! The location is perfectly suited, couple minutes drive to either Tahoe City or Kings Beach. I certainly plan on coming back here and will strongly recommend this place to family and friends. The owner, Doug, was very helpful and answered all my questions promptly. Can't wait for another visit to Tahoe!

We stayed here over President's Weekend and the traffic from the Bay Area was enough to make anyone give up and turn around, so we were very grateful for this lovely cabin when we finally arrived. This is a great place for families; with tons of picture books and games on store, you don't need to bring much from home to keep everyone happy. The beds are super comfortable, the art work and decorating is tasteful, and there's nothing like relaxing in a hot tub while it's snowing on your head! Two thumbs up!

We love this cabin. We stayed here last year and couldn't wait to come back. Staying here is like staying at the home of a good friend, who happens to have great taste, and has gone over and above to make sure that your stay is as comfortable as possible; it feels like a home away from home. There is no shortage of things to do here after a day of skiing. Some of the things we loved: great selection of books (for kids and adults), the games, well-stocked kitchen, hot tub, the fireplace, and the proximity to Lake Tahoe. This cabin is a find.
