Spent a week here with my wife in early August to escape the Oklahoma heat for a while. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the house the perfect retreat for a relaxing stay. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The 20 minute commute to Durango and local attractions was easy enough. The house is well situated with pleasing views and plenty of privacy. The house is wonderfully decorated. We stayed during the hottest time of the year, and even though there was no central air conditioning (two small window units one upstairs, one down), we were able to manage to keep the house comfortable with little extra effort. Thanks again to the owners for making it available. Would stay there again.

Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Owner response: All our guests have liked their visits! Few homes in Durango have central air and most nights are cool. We have another window AC they could have used, and fans bring in the cool night air. On the iccassional hot days we recommend drawing the shades and closing the windows, and it's always nice in the shade or the high country!

Our son was married in Colorado recently and we used the house as our home base for a week of wedding and family acivities. Even though it is a little far from town we did not find this to be overly inconventient. The location compared to the airport, to which we made several trips, was good. It is a beautiful home and location. We entertained the bride's family one night with a cook out on the spacious deck and enjoyed both the pool and the hot tub on several occasions. The bride's family had a talented musician who played beautiful music on the piano in the music room. Members of our family went tubing on the Animas River, road the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gage, climbed Engineer Mountain, went to Mesa Verde, and braved Cascade Falls. We made good use of the kitchen as our family would rather cook for ourselves than eat out very often. The convenience of having a kitchen, washer/dryer, and lots of room with privacy in a beautiful, natural setting made this a great choice compared to staying in a motel or condo. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

We are two couples from the UK who spent a fabulous 8 days in Dan & Pollys home during Sept-09. We are fortunate to have travelled to many parts of the world (must pack more in !!), normally using vacation homes as a base. This home did not disappoint, it ticked all the boxes. Read the description of this home, it truly reflects what you will get. It is firstly their home with all the comfort and facilities you would expect in a home and much, much more. While they continue their passion for travelling you will have the opportunity to have an amazing base for a fabulous vacation. Chill out on the deck, soak up in the hot-tub ( great after a long day), barbeque or just enjoy a glass or two under a wonderful night sky. If like us you do your planning on what to do or see on your trip, there is so much on offer within easy reach, I highly recommend you bounce it off Dan & Polly. These guys have a passion for this region, they refined our plans with their personal recommendations. We only scratched the surface on what to see and do but what we did was a great experience, in a wonderful part of the world, thanks to their advice. We highly recommend this home. My husband and I stayed here for about a week during the summer of 2009 and it was PERFECT! The home was very comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked, and the view from the hot-tub was beautiful. The owners were very personable and easy to get in touch with via email or a phone call. We will certainly stay here again!
