Exactly as pictured
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Blanc that the cottage was exactly as pictured! Fiona, the property manager was there when we arrived and gave us a tour of the cottage and the grounds and answered any questions we had. The area is charming and we enjoyed exploring for the 5 days that we were there. We cannot give Fiona enough high praise for her recommendations and for answering our questions while we were there. Our unit was the one bedroom unit. I would love to come back with friends and rent the larger unit, (Rouge?) with friends one day.

Fabulous, Charming, Historical - Highly Recommended Property
My husband and I spent 5 nights in the Moulin de Malecoste Blanc apartment (1 of 3 apartments on the property). Our stay was absolutely fabulous. We were greeted by Fiona, the caretaker, who was wonderful to us. To welcome us, she gifted us with local wine, bread, and cheese. Fiona checked in on us numerous times bringing us supplies we had not had a chance to purchase. She made our stay very easy by - orientlng us to the area, making dinner reservations, and recommending local sites/activities. Heather, the owner, checked in with us multiple times via texts/emails to make sure our needs were met, also providing many suggestions that made our stay even better. This property is something out of a magical fairy tale - lush surroundings, beautiful flowers, historic buildings, wonderful outdoor spaces to relax in, and the lovely sounds of the stream. The apartment was super clean and well-stocked with necessities. Incredibly, it was even better than the photos show. Moulin de Malecoste is located in the delightful area of Lot with ‘a lot’ to see and do. We visited beautiful small villages with fine dining and unique shopping experiences. You can see some of man's earliest art work in nearby prehistoric caves. Activities include canoeing, hiking and cycling. We recommend this property without hesitation and hope to return in the future for a longer stay. Thank you Heather and Fiona for sharing this incredible property with us and helping make our 2023 France vacation an unforgetable adventure. Penny & Rea from Denver Colorado USA

Absolutely Perfect!
Moulin de Malecote was everything we expected and more. The apartment itself is so elegant and perfectly decorated. Fiona and Heather made it all so easy, between local advise on where to go and what to see and even bringing us a couple of beers as we arrived after the stores closed! The area is magical and well worth seeing. The closest town of Martel had enough restuarants and sightseeing to keep us occupied each evening. We spent our days touring different villages in the area. I highly recommend the area and this lodging made it that much more specials.

Very special
We had a really relaxing and stress free holiday in this beautifully and tastefully converted barn, made even better by the generosity and friendliness of Heather, Rad and Fiona. It was very special indeed, the best self catering place we have ever stayed in, having everything we needed and more. We thoroughly recommend it and are already planning a return trip. Thanks again all.

PEACEFUL LUXERY IN THE DORDOGNE COUNTRYSIDE
After many years renting properties in Europe, Blanc is by far the most well-appointed and comfortable home we've come across. Fiona met us as we pulled in the driveway, showed us around the house, and helped us get settled. There was a bowl of fresh fruit and a bottle of wine to welcome us. During the course of the week we heard from Fiona and Heather, the owner, checking in to see if our needs were met. We celebrated a wedding anniversary during our stay, and the day of our anniversary there was fresh bread and croissants outside the door, along with a bottle of Champagne! This region of France is very beautiful and unspoiled; there are so many historically significant sights within a short drive. Some days, however, it was hard to pull ourselves away. The surrounding property of Moulin de Malecoste is as lovely and picturesque as any bucolic French country painting you could find. This was our second trip to the Dordogne, and we hope to return again one day.

Heather & Rad are fun loving South Africans who realized a dream by ourchasing this 17th Century Mill in South West France in 2001 as a second home. They love everyting French and try to spend ss much time as possible there in between running their business in Johannesburg and travelling to different parts of the world for business and pleasure.
The Ancient old Mill is a passion, they work tirelessly upgrading, redecorating and improving. making this a very special home from home.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love for this 17th cent. mill because of its unique architecture and the potential it offered. The beautiful stone it is built from, the surrounding water and established secluded garden surrounded by open fields and woods. We loved this area because it is so green and lush with many interesting things to do and see. Each village is more beautiful than the next with castles, churches, caves, markets and historical sites all within a short drive, cycle or walk. In addition to all this... the 'cuisine' of this region is famous and one can dine out on foie gras, confit de canard and other Quercy delights wherever one goes in the area.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the peace and tranquility of our property but never feel isolated becasue of the close proximity of the surrounding villages and friendly locals who always welcome us with an inviting wave and smile. The cuisine and gastronomic delights a real attration in the many local restaurants in the surrounding villages. This area is great for hiking and cycling enthusiasts. We enjoy the many historical sights as well as the geographical places of interest like caves, rivers and lakes close to us.
