Bear Lodge Lakefront Log Cabin on Beautiful Moosehead Lake
- Minimum stay:Contact owner

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Come and stay in this cozy but luxurious log cabin and experience the great North Woods of Maine. The cabin, called Bear Lodge, is nestled in the woods and perched on the banks of Moosehead Lake. We (the owners) have gone out of our way to make this cabin a clean and comfortable retreat, with every possible amenity included. The open plan, fully equipped kitchen/dining room caters for cooking and feeding up to 8 hungry people. The living room is filled with comfortable chairs, a large sofa, antiques, a wood stove and a 40" flat screen TV with 100 satellite channels. There is a DVD player, a video player with several family-friendly movies and TV series to watch. A small woodstove will take the chill off of cool nights.
There is one queen bedroom on the ground floor, with a full bathroom. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with a queen bed and a twin bed, the third bedroom has two twin beds and a large TV with satellite. There is another full bathroom upstairs.
Sit on the screened-in porch and listen to the loons calling or quietly watch for deer and moose, or at lakeside with your fishing pole. The lake is a few steps away, where you can wade in for a swim. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent in Greenville and power boats can be rented at Beaver Cove Marina. The Marina is walking distance from the house, as is an Association beach area fully equipped with picnic tables, BBQ and children's playground as well as a swimming beach and float.
While in a small village of log cabins, Bear Lodge is completely private and no neighbors can be seen from the house. It is also very quiet. If you hear anything at night it will likely be the wildlife outside! The view from Bear Lodge is unsurpassed, with magnificent sunsets over Burnt Jacket Mountain.
At 42 miles long, Moosehead Lake is the largest body of water contained in one state. It is a pristine fresh water lake, where every effort is expended to maintain its wilderness integrity. The town of Greenville, ME is only 5 miles away with a great selection of restaurants, gift shops, outdoor equipment rental, a grocery store and a video rental shop. CA Dean Memorial Hospital is small but well-equipped, and is only 6 miles from Bear Lodge. Rockwood, ME and the ferry to Mount Kineo (once a Victorian spa hotel resort) are 19 miles.

Your home has every feature that provides comfort, convenience, and charm. We just wish the underbrush was not as high as it was because it blocked the view and made it difficult to walk down to the water. We enjoyed ourselves and would return again in the future. Thank you for having all the comforts of home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Unfortunately regulations - both state and local - prevent us from cutting most brush or trees in front of the house. But there are two very well-worn paths to the waterfront! The owners...

This beautiful home couldn't be more perfect! If you are looking for a wonderful HOME, rather than simply a rental, directly on the lake shore, with peace, quiet and privacy, this is the place. We began each morning with our coffee at lake's edge, watching the mist rising from the water and listening to the haunting call of the loons. We spent part of each day on the lovely screened in porch watching the sun on the water and hiking the trails around the lake. Every evening we cooked our own dinner in the beautifully appointed kitchen and then spent the evening enjoying our wine and visiting and relaxing by lamplight with a cozy wood fire burning. This home is immaculate and has every possible amenity. The rental process was simple and straight forward. The couple of questions I had when contemplating renting the property were answered completely, promptly and the check in process was efficient and simple. My first thought upon entering on the day of our arrival was that the pictures on the website do not do the property or the home justice. Some things are just hard to capture on film! :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

The house exceeded my expectations - the pictures did not do this place justice! The kitchen was well-equipped and I was way overpacked because I expected bare bones. Next time I can pack lighter. A 2-quart baking dish would have been nice for casseroles. The beds are super comfy and there were plenty of blankets. It felt like our "home" and not a rental. Our vacation was relaxing and we got to enjoy nature with all its wonders.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We LOVED this cabin/house. It was beautifully decorated, very clean, very comfortable, and had all the amenities of home. We loved having the deck for when we wanted sun, and then the screened porch for when it was hot and buggy...although the bugs were not bad this year at all. And we loved the view from the shore, and having that cute yellow float to swim out to. We did a lot of exploring and saw 3 moose, a few deer, several loons, and lots of birds. We love to kayak and did Moosehead of course, which wasn't too windy since this house is in a nice cove. We also did Prong Pond, which was lovely and just down the road. I would say our only complaint was that it was a little hard getting the kayaks in the water on the rocky shore. A small dock would be great. But we managed ok and that would not stop us from renting this property again. Thank you for a great week!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
